You're Going to Love The Biggest Loser's New Host For Season 17

The Biggest Loser kept it in the family when it came time to find a new host. Veteran trainer Bob Harper will step into the gig after 16 seasons as a trainer. Harper is replacing longtime host Alison Sweeney. The soap star took over the gig from Caroline Rhea in 2007. In the trainer roles for season 17 are Dolvett Quince and Jennifer Widerstrom. Harper will continue to offer his training expertise to contestants throughout the season. Widerstrom and Quince will train eight contestant teams of two in a return to team versus team competition. The Biggest Loser is about to be on the hunt for a new host.  Alison Sweeney is exiting the show ahead of its 17th season, E! Alison Sweeney, the longtime host of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,” will depart the show after 13 seasons, TheWrap has confirmed. Alison Sweeney is leaving NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,” Variety has confirmed.

Sweeney will not be present for the hit weight loss reality competition’s 17th season, which begins shooting this September.

“After an incredible run together, Alison Sweeney will not be returning as host of ‘The Biggest Loser’ next season,” producers of the series told Access Hollywood in a statement on Tuesday.

Sweeney began hosting the show in 2007 with Season 4, and has been at the helm each season since. Prior, Caroline Rhea (“Sabrina, the Teenage Witch”) was host.

In addition to her hosting duties on “Biggest Loser,” Sweeney is best known for playing Sami Brady on long-running soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” which she departed in 2014, after more than two decades. However, she will return for the soap’s 50th anniversary this November.

Sweeney’s decision comes after hosting NBC’s inspirational weight-loss/competition series for 13 consecutive cycles, having replaced Caroline Rhea in Season 4.
