Since 2008, fans of the Jim Henson Company have been salivating about "The Happytime Murders," a decidedly R-rated puppet noir, which, as you might expect, isn't the easiest thing to get made. But we're in the post-"Deadpool" era where anything irreverent and filthy seems to have a better chance at going into production, and 'Murders' looks like it's on its way. Read More: Review: 'Deadpool' Starring Ryan Reynolds, T.J. Miller, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, And Gina Carano Jamie Foxx is in early talks to star in the live-action/puppet movie that will be directed by Brian Henson. Ryan Reynolds Pays Tribute to Young Deadpool Fan Who Died of Cancer

29 April 2016 11:59 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Taking on the role of a popular superhero in any big Hollywood blockbuster comes with a lot of responsibility. And a few actors have taken that notion to heart. Earlier this week, we saw Robert Downey Jr. visit sick kids in a London hospital while he was in town to promote Captain America: Civil War. Other Avengers have done similar charity appearances to cheer up and support those who aren't able to make it to the theatre or need a little extra good will in their lives. While Deadpool might be a swarthy anti-hero, Ryan Reynolds has also upheld this fine tradition, inviting a number of ill children to the Vancouver set while filming of the movie was happening in 2015. Sadly, one of the Marvel comics biggest fans has passed away. And today, the actor remembered his friend with a deeply touching and very moving tribute on Facebook.

Ryan Reynolds Writes Heartfelt Goodbye to ‘Deadpool’ Fan

29 April 2016 11:38 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds recently penned an emotional farewell on his Facebook to a 13-year-old Canadian fan who he met through the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Reynolds had been visiting Connor McGrath for three years before the teenager’s battle with cancer came to an end earlier this week.

“Connor was 13. But this kid… He was smart. He was funny. And not just funny ‘for a kid’ – or funny ‘for a person battling something awful’. He had that… thing. That thing you see in great performers or comedy writers,” the actor wrote.

Reynolds called McGrath “Bubba” and McGrath would call Reynolds “Bubba2.” They met because McGrath loved Deadpool and he was the first person to see a rough cut of the film.

He added that before people blast him for showing an R-rated film to a 13-year old, “please know this kid knew more swear words than a British chef.”

Welcome to the sausage party! Why we're about to see a new golden age of rude cartoons

29 April 2016 9:12 AM, PDT | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

Deadpool’s enormous success bodes well for Seth Rogen’s R-rated SXSW hit – plus plenty more rude cartoons coming down the pipe

We’re not yet into summer, but already this year, the cinema-going public has made two things abundantly clear to Hollywood: it likes its comedy profane, and it prefers pixels to humans.

Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds’ foul-mouthed and wildly irreverent superhero flick, shocked the industry in February by scoring the highest opening of all time for an R-rated film. A month later it became the biggest R-rated success of all time. In the Us, it’s so far amassed a staggering $361m (£246m), significantly more than the PG-13-rated comic book movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which boasts a larger budget and more recognisable characters. Worldwide, Deadpool has beaten Batman v Superman – but the former was banned in China, significantly impacting its overall revenue.

Ryan Reynolds Writes A Touching Eulogy To A Young Deadpool Fan

29 April 2016 8:56 AM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Deadpool was a movie that shattered a lot of things, chief among them being the box office and people's expectations. It has become the highest grossing R-rated movie ever made, and it’s crazy to think that this movie reached so many people. Deadpool’s a foul-mouthed mercenary, delicately walking the anti-hero line as he talks about Colossus’ balls and turning bad guys into human kabob’s with his sword. He’s very popular with the adolescent crowd and that was never more true than with a young fan named Connor McGrath.   Connor McGrath was 13 years old battling High-Risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Connor was a huge Deadpool fan and one of his wishes was to see the movie Deadpool. This is a wish that the Make-a-Wish Foundation and Ryan Reynolds delivered in spades. Reynolds went to visit Connor in Alberta Edmonton, where »

Deadpool Video Shows The Making Of A Crucial Piece Of Equipment

27 April 2016 4:02 PM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Deadpool has one of the most iconic costumes in superhero comics, and rather than tone it down for his theatrical movie, the creative team replicated his duds faithfully. This included his mask, which Wade Wilson doesn’t wear to protect his identity, but so people cant see his disfigured face. Now a featurette from Deadpool’s upcoming Blu-ray release gives audiences some insight into how this distinctive headwear was created for live action. Take a look! This behind-the-scenes look (provided by IGN) shows just how seriously the Deadpool crew treated making Deadpool’s mask look as accurate as possible. They even got a head start on the job, as it was important that they capture the right expression for the static mask. After digitally scanning Ryan Reynolds’ head and neck, they sculpted on top of that model in clay, and that was then scanned, digitized and 3 »

The Hitman’s Bodyguard Dispatched Into Production With Ryan Reynolds, Elodie Yung And Samuel L. Jackson

27 April 2016 2:46 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

The Hitman’s Bodyguard has officially been handed his assignment and dispatched into production.

Patrick Hughes’ (The Expendables 3) action-comedy, one led by Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds, has now been ushered in front of the cameras for a rip-roaring adventure that also features Samuel L. Jackson, Salma Hayek, Daredevil starlet Elodie Yung and Gary Oldman as Vladislav Dukhovich, a bloodthirsty Eastern European dictator. Well, you know how Oldman likes to play the baddie.

For the flick, Reynolds will take point as Michael Bryce, the “world’s top protection agent” who find himself protecting the most unusual client – a notorious hitman. Playing the ice-cold role of that hired gun is Samuel L. Jackson, and much of The Hitman’s Bodyguard is said to revolve around the pair’s comedic dynamic.

For Hughes’ picture, Reynolds and Jackson have “been on opposite ends of a bullet for years. They hate each other. Now »

Deadpool's Awesome Marketing Continues For Its Home Video Release

26 April 2016 6:59 PM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

It seems Deadpool is just not content with his own film being released digitally today, he's invading a few classics such as Alien 3, Batman: The Movie, 127 Hours and Taken.  Does Deadpool make any movie better? It's debatable, but the Regenerating Degenerate has personally selected 8 movies he thinks deserves some of his off-brand humor.  As a result, these films are specially priced at $7.99 (excluding Days of Future Past) on iTunes.  Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life. Starring Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Ed Skrein, Gina Carano, and Brianna Hildebrand, Deadpool was released in theaters on February 12th, »

Ryan Reynolds Helping Theater Fined for Showing Deadpool with Beer

26 April 2016 5:51 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

It's Ryan Reynolds to the rescue as a Utah movie theater comes under fire for showing Deadpool while serving beer in the auditorium. The actor performed a very heroic deed, donating $5,000 toward the legal defense fund started by a Salt Lake City theater and pub that screened the Marvel superhero adventure against the laws of the state.

Deadpool, as fans know, is a very R-rated movie that contains explicit language and some graphic sexual situations along with plenty of gore and violence. Showing the offensive content directly violates Utah liquor laws that forbid the serving of any alcoholic beverage during a movie that contains simulated sex scenes. Three undercover agents who visited the theater during a showing of Deadpool later filed the complaint against the Brewvies Cinema Pub, citing the establishment for breaking the law in late February.

Brewvies set up a GoFundMe account to help crowd source money for their legal woes. »
