'Scary Movie V' - worst in the series (Ians Movie Review)

20 April 2013 12:31 AM, PDT | RealBollywood.com | See recent RealBollywood news »

Film: "Scary Movie V"; Cast: Charlie Sheen, Regina Hall, Lindsay Lohan, Simon Rex, Ashley Tisdale and Snoop Dogg; Director: Malcolm D. Lee; Rating: *

If you are weak-hearted, then this film is for you! No it will neither make your heart stronger nor help you get rid of your troubles, but it will surely keep you in splits.

For the un-initiated, the "Scary Movie" series is supposed to be a comedy series. So there is nothing scary about this film.

"Scary Movie V" is a spoofy comedy that makes a mockery of chillers and other great films. The scenes are direct rip-offs from films released not so long ago. The central plotline and characters of the film are taken from "Mama", a movie that hit theatres barely three months. »

Laremy is in Greece, which is why we decided to do the podcast today instead of yesterday and you'll have to bear with us, there was a slight delay in his audio. I also had to edit a few times as his side continued to break up here and there. However... the show must go on! Today we discuss the new Tom Cruise movie Oblivion, take a look forward at the box office potential of the summer films, play some games, answer some questions and voicemails and much more. I also want to remind you there will be a slightly different podcast this Friday where hopefully Laremy can join, but I will be getting together with Kevin Jagernauth from The Playlist and Emma and Aurelien from CinemaTeaser.com to discuss the 2013 Cannes Film Festival lineup as all four of us will be in Cannes to cover what is already shaping »

42 Hits a Home Run While Scary Movie 5 Strikes Out at Weekend Box Office

14 April 2013 1:33 PM, PDT | TheHDRoom | See recent TheHDRoom news »

North America was in the mood for baseball at the box office this weekend as the Jackie Robinson biopic 42 stepped up to the multiplex plate and landed in first place. The Warner Brothers movie easily beat the weak debut of Weinstein's Scary Movie 5 while knocking last weekend's number one film Evil Dead down to fifth place in the process. The top ten was down 15% from last weekend but even with last year's totals at this time.

Coinciding with the start of the 2013 Major League Baseball Season, 42 rode the wave of an effective marketing campaign to launch on 3,003 screens for a great $27.5 million in its debut and an excellent $9, 074 per screen average. The $38 million production about the African-American baseball legend stars Chadwick Boseman as Robinson and Harrison Ford as Brooklyn Dodgers owner Branch Rickey, and was written and directed by Brian Helgeland (Payback, L.A. Confidential).

Scary Movie 5 Review

13 April 2013 4:02 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

I can’t believe I’m about to waste another hour of my life writing about Scary Movie 5 after Malcolm D. Lee’s expectedly godawful “spoof” movie just stole the last hour and a half of my day, but in the spirit of pumping one more negative review out to the public so they can truly understand what a witless, hollow, immature piece of garbage this film is, here it goes.

There aren’t enough words to describe how much I detested every miserable minute and every uneducated and unintelligent phallic joke, as the film sports comedic talents equivalent to the drawings that used to be showcased on my home refrigerator when I was 5.

I know what you’re thinking, how could a film starring Lindsay Lohan, Snoop Lion, Mac Miller, Simon Rex, Bow Wow, and Katt Williams be that bad, but trust me when I say Scary Movie 5 »

‘Scary Movie 5′ Review

Stars: Simon Rex, Ashley Tisdale, Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan, Jerry O’Connell, Erica Ash, Katt Williams, Gracie Whitton, Lidia Porto, Katrina Bowden, Snoop Dogg, Tyler Posey, Molly Shannon, Terry Crews | Written by Pat Proft, David Zucker | Directed by Malcolm D. Lee

The Scary Movie series returns to cinemas after a seven-year hiatus with Scary Movie 5,  the fifth installment of the outrageous comedy horror franchise,  which sees happily-married couple Dan (Simon Rex) and Jody (Ashley Tinsdale) notice strange goings on when they return home with their newborn baby. They soon deduce that they’re being terrorized by an evil force and decide to use the latest home surveillance equipment to try and snare it for once and for all, with a little help from a panel of experts.

It doesn’t bode well for entry new franchise entry when none of the original cast members, not even the bit-parters, return for the sequel. »

This week's new films

12 April 2013 10:00 PM, PDT | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

The Place Beyond The Pines | Oblivion | Simon Killer | The Gatekeepers | Flying Blind | Scary Movie 5 | Bafta Shorts 2013 | First Position | Theorem | Nautanki Saala!

The Place Beyond The Pines (15)

(Derek Cianfrance, 2012, Us) Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper. 141 mins

Fans might be disappointed to hear it, but this has bigger ambitions than just drooling over Ryan Gosling. His criminal stunt-biker is merely one part of a weighty cross-generational triptych: a study of fathers, sons, sins and justice that seeks a place beyond standard storytelling structure, even if there's not quite enough meat on the bones, especially of the Gosling variety.

Oblivion (12A)

(Joseph Kosinski, 2013, Us) Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko. 125 mins

Cruise is in his familiar anchorman role for this big-budget sci-fi, set on a devastated future Earth where all is not what it seems with his drone repairman's job. It's potentially a Philip K Dick-style thriller, though the lack of advance screenings is a danger sign. »

'Scary Movie 5' Review: Ballerina Sort Of Sex, Frying Pans to the Face and More Unfunny Stuff

Movie Review: 'Scary Movie 5'

Scary Movie 5

Starring Ashley Tisdale, Simon Rex, Charlie Sheen, Untalented Folks

Directed by Malcolm D. Lee

Rated PG-13

Waterboarding, hangnails, stubbing ones toe against a concrete wall, biting your tongue while chewing gum: things that are more enjoyable than Scary Movie 5.  It’s really a shame that such great talent was waste… Wait. Wait.  Sorry, I couldn’t hold in my laugher.  Ironic since this is the most I laughed since watching Scary Movie 5.  At this point in time it’s useless for me to make fun of a series that seems to be imploding upon failed jokes, uninspired directors, and lower-than-low brow humor. With these ‘Movie’ movies, everything needs to be taken at face value, even if it’s a face you really want to punch over and over again.

‘Scary Movie 5′ Review

12 April 2013 3:35 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Continuing the horror comedy series created by Shawn, Marlon, and Keenan Ivory Wayans, Scary Movie 5 is a relatively clean slate for the franchise – with very few returning faces behind or in front of the camera. As with prior entries, the plot is a thin piece of storytelling designed to string together disconnected parody scenes and over-the-top gags. This time, the basic Scary Movie setup kicks-off with adoptive parents Dan (Simon Rex) and Jody (Ashley Tisdale) who arrive home with three orphaned children – and soon witness supernatural events occurring. With the help of friends and specialists, including Katt Williams and a genetically enhanced chimpanzee, the pair determine that they are dealing with a paranormal entity – setting out to banish the trouble-making spirit.

Scary Movie 5 with Ashley Tisdale, Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen Blu-ray Pre-Order Up

12 April 2013 3:04 PM, PDT | TheHDRoom | See recent TheHDRoom news »

Scary Movie 5 just had its red carpet premiere last night with the likes of Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan and Mike Tyson occupying virtually the same space. It seems far too early to start talking about the upcoming Blu-ray and DVD release, yet here we are.

Sometime over the past day or so, online retailer Amazon.com began pre-orders for the Blu-ray and DVD editions of Scary Movie 5. It's far too early to nail down a release date, but if we apply the standard three-month rule, you can expect Scary Movie 5 to start popping up on store shelves in either late July or early August.

Scary Movie 5 stars Ashley Tisdale, Simon Rex and a slew of other actors and cameo appearances. The spoof sequel takes aim at the Paranormal Activity horror franchise and Fifty Shades of Grey, amongst other notable pop culture phenomenoms. For Tisdale, it's another »

Film Review: ‘Scary Movie 5′

12 April 2013 1:59 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Talk about fast turnaround: Movies as recent as “Mama” and the “Evil Dead” remake find themselves sent up in “Scary Movie 5,” the numbingly inane if cheerfully up-to-the-minute new entry in a franchise presumed to have breathed its last seven years ago. One scene inspired by “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” features a roomful of chimps hurling their feces at the wall, providing a perhaps unintended metaphor for the writing process behind this unwelcome resurrection. Still, insofar as past installments have proved frighteningly lucrative (more than $800 million worldwide), there may yet be some commercial life in this pop-culture barf bag.

A recent wave of horror hits – including but not limited to the “Paranormal Activity” franchise, “Sinister” and “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” – is the slender justification offered up for the existence of this sequel scripted by David Zucker (who helmed the previous two “Scary” movies) and Pat Proft. »

Title: Scary Movie 5 Director: Malcolm D. The flicks spoofed this time around are Mama, Paranormal Activity franchise, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Black Swan, Evil Dead (remake), and couple other feeble nods to blockbuster titles (i.e. Inception). So Unfunny It's 'Scary'

12 April 2013 11:22 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Los Angeles -- You have to at least give "Scary Movie 5" points for timeliness. This latest installment of the horror movie spoof franchise manages to deliver parodies of movies as recent as last week's "Evil Dead" remake, not to mention one that hasn't even been made yet ("Fifty Shades of Gray"). But those points are immediately subtracted by the fact that this Wayans-less installment doesn't manage to wrest a single laugh from any one of them.

Directed by Malcolm D. Lee and co-written and produced by the venerable David Zucker ("Airplane," "The Naked Gun"), it demonstrates that the latter has definitely lost his comic mojo. The film, which opened without being press-screened, unspooled to an opening day audience that produced a deafening silence.

If you've seen the trailer, you've already seen the most notorious segment, in which Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan enthusiastically – if sadly – make fun of their »

'Scary Movie 5' Premiere: Lindsay Lohan Was Late, Looked Good (Photos)

12 April 2013 7:52 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

Yes, it actually happened. Lindsay Lohan showed up to the "Scary Movie 5" premiere last night in L.A., and she didn't look half bad! Good for you, LiLo! The infamous actress arrived on the red carpet a little late, but when she finally got there she looked pretty good in a tight, black Dolce & Gabbana dress. Lohan's other notable (but far less fancy) accessory was another tabloid favorite, Charlie Sheen. As promised, Lohan was Sheen's date to the premiere, and they definitely played up the part. The pair posed for photographers with their arms around each other, and Sheen even planted a few kisses on the actress's cheek (maybe that Lohan-Sheen baby Moviefone created wasn't such a stretch after all!). Of course, Lohan and Sheen weren't the only "Scary Movie 5" stars at the premiere; Ashley Tisdale, Simon Rex, and Kate Walsh were also on hand. You can check »

Lindsay Lohan, Charlie Sheen hit red carpet for 'Scary Movie 5' premiere [Photos]

12 April 2013 12:00 AM, PDT | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen just can't get enough of each other lately, cozying up on the red carpet at the premiere for their new comedy "Scary Movie 5."

The stars who have both had their share of troubles also shared the small screen on Thursday night in an episode of Sheen's FX comedy "Anger Management."

The latest "Scary Movie" has quite a bizarre cast -- not just Lohan and Sheen but other tabloid targets including Katt Williams, Andy Dick and boxer Mike Tyson in addition to familiar TV faces like Kate Walsh and Heather Locklear -- who all rubbed elbows at the premiere, even if they have little more than cameos in the finished film.

For those who are brave enough, "Scary Movie 5" -- which appears to actually star less flashly actors Ashley Tisdale and Simon Rex in the lead roles -- opens in theaters across the U. »
