‘Covert Affairs’ Star Christopher Gorham Makes Directorial Debut (Exclusive)

Christopher Gorham will make his feature directorial debut on the independent comedy “We Love You, Sally Carmichael!,” Variety has learned.

Gorham, best known for portraying a blind CIA officer on USA Network’s “Covert Affairs,” will also star in “Sally Carmichael.” He will direct from a script by Daryn Tufts.

Adam Abel is producing through his production company Go Films. Executive producers are Tufts and David Nibley of Flinch Films.

“Sally Carmichael” will shoot in Utah this summer. Gorham will portray an author who is ashamed to have secretly written an incredibly popular series of young adult romance novels that chronicle the epic love story between a human girl and a merman — all under the pen name, Sally Carmichael. When he is forced to meet a top box office star about the movie adaptation of a Sally Carmichael book, the author’s carefully built life of anonymity starts crumbling down around him. »

‘Awkward’ Star Cast in Fox Medical Drama Pilot ‘Zoobiquity’

Awkward” star Wesam Keesh has been cast as a series regular in Fox’s “Zoobiquity” pilot, Variety has learned exclusively.

He joins a cast that includes Peter Facinelli, Kim RaverMarsha Thomason and Antonia Bernath.

Zoobiquity” is a light medical procedural that follows the unlikely pairing of a successful, driven cardiologist (Raver) as she risks career suicide by teaming with a socially challenged veterinarian (Facinelli) in an effort to tackle the most challenging cases with an untested brand of cross-species medicine.

Keesh — best known for playing Kyle on the MTV series “Awkward” — will play Zahid, Facinelli’s assistant at his veterinarian practice. The character is described as kind, strong-willed and a computer whiz.

Zoobiquity” hails from “Bones” alums Jon Collier and Stephen Nathan, who wrote the TV adaptation, based on the best-selling “Zoobiquity” book, which examines the links between animals and humans when it comes to treating physical and behavioral ailments. »

During its TCA winter tour panel, Fox announced that it has ordered the pilot 24: Legacy, a potential new series installment of the groundbreaking and Emmy Award-winning drama franchise most recently revived as the event series 24: Live Another Day, it was announced today by Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs, Fox Television Group. This series will not feature Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer, with Entertainment Weekly reporting that the producers are seeking either an African-American actor or a Latino actor to portray a new character named Eric Carter. Here's what Fox Television CEO Gary Newman had to say in a statement.

'24' Sequel Series Will Not Star Kiefer Sutherland

"24" is an interesting case study for American television. It came during a time of increased paranoia of terrorism, and a real gung-ho attitude among the general populous. Revisiting that series with a modern lens is definitely a cool experience, as it is very much a time capsule of a certain era, and while the recent 12-episode season, "24: Live Another Day" did a fairly solid job of updating the premise for a modern audience, in my mind, it could never shake its early-2000s roots.

With that in mind, it makes sense that Fox is looking to reboot this series from the ground up. While at the TV Critics Association Winter Press Tour, Fox announced that they will in fact be producing a pilot to a sequel series entitled "24: Legacy."

With any announcement like this, there are bound to be plenty of questions. Fox confirmed that this series will »
