TV Land‘s gimmick of creating new sit-coms that are throwbacks to the style and general effort of those classic shows from the ’80s and ’90s is one that is proving more and more a hit-or-miss venture. What at first seemed a no-fail stroke of genius, has now put out its share of failures, and though it has led to some truly great shows, we’re learning that you can’t always spin success out of the concept.
For every Hot in Cleveland, there’s a Retired at 35. For every The Exes, we get a Happily Divorced. Not that those shows were terrible. They weren’t. They just didn’t work out, and were perhaps not as solid in their construction as the real hits. Now we have Kirstie, which I admit seemed like a good idea on paper, and that one is mostly difficult to watch. This leads us to Jennifer Falls, »

Jaime Pressly has a new series of her own on TV Land and she is excited for it. It is called Jennifer Falls. It will follow the life of a single mom balancing life, working at a bar and her crazy family. It premiers tonight and will be Jaime’s first new TV show since My Name is Earl ended. The show will follow Jaime as she builds her life back up with the help of her daughter (who has her own struggles), her mother and her best friends. Sticking true to TV Land’s originals series, is a comedy.
This show sounds like it has potential. I hope it does well. We need more family based comedies and this seems like a good one that could fill that void. However, I do wish that Jaime landed the show on another network. I don’t think TV Land has the »

Buzzfeed declares that Faking It is “changing the nature of queer representation” as it avoids assigning a sexuality to its two lead characters , even as the sexual tension builds between them.
How did an inappropriate reference to Kelis‘ “Milkshake” make it into the Scripps Spelling Bee? The event hires comedy writers to keep things lively by writing jokes and pop culture references for the clues. Multiple possibilities are written and, while the “Milkshake” reference was rejected, it ended in the announcers’ cards by mistake.
I need to start stocking up on rage in case this Walking Dead spoiler turns out to be true. I’m positive I can »

“You know, everything that’s meant to be, is, and what’s supposed to happen, does,” Jaime Pressly says, giving off some very zen vibes while explaining how she came to be the lead of TV Land’s newest comedy Jennifer Falls, which premieres Wednesday at 10:30/9:30c. A study by the Annenberg Public Policy Center found that people who watched The Colbert Report were better informed on campaign finance issues than people who got their news through traditional news sources. Remember this the next time someone laments that people say they get their news from comedy shows.
A&E found another reason for its adaptation of Les Revenants to grab your attention. Kevin Alejandro has joined the cast as the town sheriff.
I hope this turns out to be a better role than Brother Blood.
TBS has ordered a third season of King of the Nerds, according to The Hollywood Reporter. I’m thrilled, King of the Nerds has the best challenges on TV, there should be a spin-off that just reuses old challenges, like the one where competitors fly on brooms trying to land golden snitches into cauldrons.
TVLine reports that Jason Ritter will appear »

Marlon Wayans is back with another spoof of the horror genre, but it's one that's really, really not worth your time...
Just when you thought it was safe to go back onto movie theaters, Marlon Wayans is back and taking aim at the horror genre yet again with yet another spoof movie. Malcolm Johnson (Marlon Wayans) survived the events of A Haunted House, and a year after the possession of Kisha (Essence Adkins), he's found a new girlfriend named Megan (Jaime Pressly) and he's moved into a fancy new house in the suburbs with Megan's children Becky (Ashley Rickards) and Wyatt (Steele Stebbins).
As it turns out, you can't kill your problems in a car wreck, even if your problem is a possessed woman. Malcolm moves into his new house and the problems immediately start. There's a creepy doll, a box that drives Becky insane, »
Open Road Films released their new comedy/horror flick, "A Haunted House" into theaters this weekend. I just watched it , and thought it was pretty good, serving up a ton of laughs, crazy horror scenes, and more. However, there were quite a few lines that were just out right corny as hell. I find that they deliver up quite a few of those in these types of mockery movies. Anyways, It stars: Marlon Wayans, Gabriel Iglesias, Jaime Pressly, Ashley Rickards, Essence Atkins, Affion Crockett, and Dave Sheridan. In the new flick, characters ,Malcolm Johnson (Marlon Wayans) and his cousin Ray-Ray (Affion Crockett), end up leaving Malcom's possessed girlfriend Kisha (Essence Atkins) behind after they collide with a truck. Then the movie fast-forwards one year later to show that Malcom is married to a new hot chick, named Megan (Jamie Pressly), who is an insecure woman with two kids: her bratty »
Jaime Pressly won an Emmy for her work on "My Name is Earl," but her career in outlandish comedy didn't begin or end there. The actress who riled us with her sendup of "Bring It On" in "Not Another Teen Movie" and her comic chops in "I Love You, Man" is now playing Marlon Wayans' wife -- God help her -- in "A Haunted House 2." We caught up with Pressly to discuss the movie's legitimate, ridiculous scares and the time she almost impaled herself on her Emmy. »

It’s not that the Marlon Wayans horror spoof “A Haunted House 2” isn’t stupid. It is, incredibly so, as well as technically inept, damn near plotless, and mired in humor so puerile, ugly and regressive that this critic witnessed a gaggle of preteen theater-hoppers groan with exasperation at several of the running sex jokes. And yet, there’s a certain tragically admirable level of commitment from the cast, particularly the dignity-averse Wayans, that at least lifts it above the parody-movie nadir set by “Date Movie”/“Epic Movie” auteurs Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. It’s certainly likely to be among the worst movies in wide release this year, but it’s far from the most hateable, and that should count for something.
A sequel to last year’s “A Haunted House,” which grossed $40 million even though it appeared to have been financed with change collected from a shopping mall fountain, »

There’s nothing worse than an ex-girlfriend scorned. Unless it’s a demonic ex-girlfriend scorned. Marlon Wayans, Jaime Pressly, Gabriel Iglesias and Cedric the Entertainer were among the film’s cast on the red carpet Wednesday night at LALive for the premiere of “A Haunted House 2.” No one was frightened away from this sequel, which opens Friday and is expected to scare up some tidy box office grosses for distributor Open Road Films. Fans lined the block to try and get a glimpse of their favorites, who included a variety of celebrity names like singer-actress Brandy, musicexec Russell Simmons, former football great Shawne Merriman as well as welterweightboxing legend Floyd Mayweather, Jr., who, with his full Money Team entourage, tooktime out getting ready for his upcoming fight to support his friend, Wayans. Ablizzard of flashes went off when the two embraced on the carpet in front ofphotographers. Wayans was »
