Josh Hopkins is moving from the cul-de-sac to the FBI base.

The “Cougar Town” alum has joined ABC’s drama “Quantico,” as a series regular, Variety has learned.

Hopkins will play Special Agent Liam O’Conner, who’s described as sexy, good looking and charming. Now her subordinate, Liam is Miranda’s (Aunjanue Ellis) former partner and while the two care for each other, they often butt heads. Though he’s good at his job, his bouts of depression, stemming from a mistake in his past, get in the way.

Ratings: ABC’s ‘Celebrity Family Feud,’ ‘Battlebots’ Score in Debuts

22 June 2015 8:43 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

ABC effectively used promotion during its highly rated NBA Finals to launch two series with pre-branded recognition — “Celebrity Family Feud” and “Battlebots” — to winning numbers on Sunday, a night that also saw Fox fare well with its final-round coverage of golf’s U.S. Open.

According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, a repeat of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (0.8 rating/4 share in adults 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall) was followed on ABC by the premiere of the Steve Harvey-hosted “Celebrity Family Feud” (2.4/10 in 18-49, 8.5 million viewers overall), which garnered the night’s top demo score and outperformed the last 13 episodes of “Once Upon a Time” to air on the network in the Sunday-at-8 timeslot during the regular season. It also more than doubled the season premiere of “Wipeout” in the hour a year ago (1.0 in 18-49).

Though technically not a series premiere, “Feud” — a spinoff of the popular daytime »

Con Air: the 90s action film that remains unmatched

7 April 2015 9:16 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Here's our tribute to one of the best action movies ever made: a story of Nicolas Cage, a plane and a toy bunny...

"Break out the fine china, chill the lemonade, tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree. Cos this boy's coming home to his ladies. Coming home forever."

Action cinema changed in 1999. The release of The Matrix unleashed a torrent of imitators, but also altered fundamentally the editing of movies in the genre. This came with a price. Action sequences became harder to follow. Character was relegated. The old style idea of pitting a movie star against some peril in extraordinary circumstances was seemingly less tempting. The Matrix had started something.

Well, that, or everyone just watched Con Air, and figured they couldn't top it. Because in truth, how could they? One of the most quotable, enjoyable and wildly entertaining blockbusters of the 1990s, I can't think »

The Weekend Read: Autism in entertainment from 'Rain Man' to 'Community'

28 March 2015 8:50 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

The Weekend Read: Our Saturday essay on the great topics in entertainment and culture today. Last weekend, as Toshi was cruising the Blu-ray shelves for new movies to start asking about, he pulled "Rain Man" on a shelf and considered the cover for a moment before he turned to me, excited. "You didn't tell me Tom Cruise made a superhero movie!" I can only assume his eventual disappointment might be tempered by the fact that "Rain Man" is a pretty good movie. It had been a while since I'd seen it, though, and after they went back to their mom's house, I put it in to watch it. I remember when it came out being right in the midst of my first time watching a lot of classic filmographies, and more than anything, I enjoyed the film as a match-up between Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise. Looking at the film, »

Monica Potter’s NBC Series Shelved

24 March 2015 9:49 PM, PDT | Boomtron | See recent Boomtron news »

Bad news for Parenthood‘s Monica Potter and Ellen DeGeneres. The duo’s untitled comedy is cancelled or delayed for now. The network has made the big decision to not proceed with the show despite the fact they already announced some stars. The show was supposed to follow Bridget (Potter’s character) who deals with a crazy life that includes 3 ex-husbands. NBC and Warner Bros made a joint choice to hold off on further development until next year-which may or may not happen.

We’re sad by this news as fans of Monica. However, we are not shocked by NBC’s choice. The network has attache itself to many possible series and a few would need to be delayed or canned. However, it is a shame that they chose to do this to a show that was already going along as nicely as this one was. Plus that means a »
