Martha Thomases: Defending…?

18 August 2017 5:00 AM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

Last Friday, my pal Larry Hama invited me to a “friends and family” screening of the first two episodes of Marvel’s The Defenders. I mean the new series debuting on Netflix today, not the classic television show, The Defenders, the source of many many jokes made during the screening.

Also in attendance: Tony Isabella, Michael Gaydos and his adorable son, Arvell Jones, and the families of Archie Goodwin and George Tuska. Plus a bunch of current Marvel folks who had probably already seen the whole series, but who were gracious hosts.

Before the screening began, I was feeling pretty warm and fuzzy about seeing so many of my old friends and meeting people whose work I admired. Hence, I was psyched to enjoy two hours in a comfy chair in a screening room.

Mostly, I had a great time. I have a huge crush on Charlie Cox, the beautiful man who plays Matt Murdock. »

‘The Simpsons’ Star Nancy Cartwright: 30 Years Later, Bart Simpson Has Become a Grandma — and a First-Time Filmmaker

10 August 2017 12:30 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

It’s been a big year for “The Simpsons,” but an even bigger one for the voice of Bart Simpson.

Bart, Homer and the rest of the family first appeared on “The Tracey Ullman Show” 30 years ago, and the series is about to break another record with the most episodes of any scripted series in history (surpassing “Gunsmoke”).

Nancy Cartwright has also hit personal milestones, including her second Emmy nomination for voicing Bart Simpson. But over the course of the past year, she also became a grandmother – and a first-time filmmaker.

The Simpsons” has already been picked up for Seasons 29 and 30, guaranteeing Cartwright’s role as Bart until at least 2019 – and likely beyond. “Look what we’ve done. It’s unbelievable. It’s unfathomable,” she recently told IndieWire. “At 10 years they were saying, ‘Did you have any idea?’ and then 20 years, ‘Did you know?’ And now, another decade has gone »

‘Preacher’ Creators Explain How Music Makes the Show, Especially in Season 2

31 July 2017 1:52 PM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

It’s hardly news that music can make any film or television show, but just how important is music while putting a high-profile show together? The executive producers of AMC’s “Preacher” gave us some insight into how music not only inspires the hit TV drama, but how it makes everything click in the editing room.

At a “Preacher” screening event earlier this month, we asked executive producers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Sam Catlin a few questions about music and its place in the world of “Preacher.”

“Editing is really interesting because you come into it, and you first see the cut, the original assembly, and it just fills you with despair cause it’s nothing at all what you’d hoped for,” Catlin said. “And then you work with the editor, and then it starts to get better and better, and then you show it again and it looks like crap. »
