War Witch, a Canadian-made film about a young girl who escapes from the African rebels who forced her to be a child soldier, was named Best Narrative Feature at the 11th annual Tribeca Film Festival. “This indelible character study of a girl who becomes a woman before our eyes in the midst of harrowing war gives words to the unspeakable,” said the jury, which included Patricia Clarkson, Dakota Fanning, Mike Newell, EW’s Lisa Schwarzbaum, Jim Sheridan, and Irwin Winkler. “Riveting, heartbreaking, vivid, and eloquent, the movie balances scenes of crazy enemy hatred with moments of luminous private love.”

Other big winners include Nisha Pahuja's "The World Before Her" for Best Documentary Feature, Bryan Buckley's "Asad" for Best Narrative Short and Frederic Golding's "On the Mat" for Best Feature Film in the festival's online competition.

The hotly anticipated trailer for Magic Mike -- a.k.a. The Channing Tatum Stripper Movie -- finally ripped off its invisibility cloak last night and shook its junk in the world's face. And while this should have been the best day of 2012 (second only to opening night), I found the trailer seriously lacking.
And since I like to over-analyze things, here are three ways the Magic Mike trailer could -- and should -- have been better.
Pics - Bomer & Manganiello Take It Off
#1. No One Reads The Articles
I understand that a trailer is designed to get butts in seats, but let's call a thong a thong and own up to the fact that no one is coming to see this movie for the plot. A fact Channing seems to understand as he told EW, "Unless you're a guy who likes that, you're not going to say to your buddy, like, 'Yo, what's »

Tom (married to supermodel Gisele Bundchen) is hand in hand with his 4-year old son as they leave a Whole Foods in La. Jack has a blue t-shirt with red lettering that says, "Property of the New England Patriots," dad's NFL football team. Celebrity Baby Scoop notes that Jack is surrounded by love from his modern family. In an item, the website notes that "though their split was a hot topic at the time, Jack's mother Bridget Moynahan says that she and Tom have worked to maintain a positive relationship for the sake of their son." When a casting flurry was soon replaced by relative tranquility and a looming production start, this writer thought Michael Bay‘s Pain and Gain had ceased any relevant pre-production movement. Now, however, EW reports on what could, all things considered, very well be the last addition — but I’ve been wrong before.
Anyway, we’ve heard that Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids, Bachelorette) will be joining this crime-comedy ensemble as Ramona Eldridge, one of the hucksters in on the film’s central scheme. Said scheme — actually a real-life, horrific crime — involves Marc Schiller (Tony Shalhoub), a Miami businessman kidnapped and tortured by bodybuilders (Dwayne Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, and Anthony Mackie); Ed Harris, meanwhile, plays the detective chasing them. Shooting will begin sometime this spring.
Next up, THR says that Bridget Moynahan is looking to board Small Time, a Joel Surnow-helmed drama that, just last night, locked Christopher Meloni into the lead role. »

The project centers on a married doctor who is drawn into the life of an increasingly troubled patient who self-medicates to dull the anxiety related to the impending release of her husband from prison. Bridget Moynahan (I, Robot) joins the semi-autobiographical familial drama, Small Time, drawn from 24 co-creator Joel Surnow's personal history. Hit the jump for more on each project. Reese Witherspoon popped up in Seoul this morning for a This Means War press conference. She made the trek to Asia alongside her movie's director, McG. Reese left La on Monday for the latest leg of her promotional tour. Reese spoke about her children, Ava and Deacon, to assembled reporters. She said, "Balancing work and family . . . this is very hard. And I think many women in the world experience that. I am very lucky that I have a very supportive family. My mother helps me quite a bit. And I only make one movie a year. I try to be very careful with which movie I decide to make, because it takes my time away from my family. So I try to only pick the best scripts and work with the best people." Reese made a quick change following her morning Q&A, which she conducted in a hot pink Michael Kors dress. »
