John Wick 2 Has a New Dog and a Better Villain

6 June 2016 2:01 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

One of the surprise critical hits of 2014 was the action-thriller John Wick, which earned $86 million worldwide from a $20 million budget. Shortly after the movie's modest theatrical success, Lionsgate moved forward with a sequel, John Wick: Chapter 2, which brings Keanu Reeves back as the title character. One of the other original John Wick stars returning is Ian McShane, whose character Winston ran the mysterious Continental Hotel, a hangout for assassins. While discussing his role in last night's Game of Thrones, the actor shed new light on this sequel.

Back in April, the official synopsis for John Wick: Chapter 2 was released, teasing that Keanu Reeves' title character is forced out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins' guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world's deadliest killers. »

More 'John Wick' Sequels Are Possible Says Keanu Reeves

17 April 2016 5:39 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

John Wick 2 isn't in theaters until this February. But that doesn't mean it's ever too early to start talking about more sequels. Keanu Reeves had an unexpected breakout hit with the first John Wick in 2014, and he seems to be just as in love with the character as audiences. With John Wick: Chapter 2 almost through production, Keanu and his team do have a solid vision for the future. And the actor definitely hopes to take it to the next level in future sequels. He told Collider this about turning John Wick into a bonafide Hollywood franchise.

"I love John Wick. We had an amazing time making this story. I can't say that we're not geeked about continuing the idea and the character. We have some really cool ideas. We talk about what would be cool to take it to the next level."

Watch Keanu Reeves Prepare For the “Evolving” Action of ‘John Wick: Chapter Two’

4 March 2016 11:32 AM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

The action in today’s cinematic landscape can often feel too obscured, chopped up, or simply poorly shot (see a piece of utter failure in all of these regards), so it was a breath of fresh air when Chad Stahelski and David Leitch delivered their debut, John Wick. With clearly defined choreography and a knowledge of how to frame a thrilling sequence, it was head and shoulders above most of Hollywood’s output — until we got Mad Max: Fury Road, of course.

Stahelski recently wrapped up directing the sequel with Keanu Reeves, Bridget Moynahan and Ian McShane returning, along with the new faces of Laurence Fishburne, Ruby Rose, Peter Stormare, and Common. While John Wick: Chapter Two is still eleven months away, today brings a preview that should delight just as much as any footage. A new video, from Taran Tactical, shows Reeves in the middle of some in-depth training at a firing range, »

But thanks to Taran Tactical, we get to see the actor running an obstacle course as he shows off his epic and amazing gun skills, quickly trading one weapon for the next. Watch Keanu Reeves Kick Ass During Weapons Training For John Wick 2

4 March 2016 8:08 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

If for some reason you failed to see John Wick, then we’d recommend remedying that as soon as possible. The intense hitman flick brought a breath of fresh air to the stale, hammy chops of the action genre, and a large part of that is down to the performance of its leading man. Keanu Reeves immersed himself in the role of Wick, and looks to be channeling that same ferocity for his reprisal in John Wick: Chapter Two.

We’re basing this assumption on a new set video that’s appeared online. The clip (via /Film) shows Reeves in full-on badass mode stalking through a shooting range during live-ammo preparations. Say what you like about his acting prowess – although I am a fan – his dedication to making the character believable is worth mentioning. Firing a few rounds from a handbag pistol this is not.
