How to Get Away with Murder Season 3 Books Two High Profile Guest Stars

5 August 2016 12:01 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Are you wondering what's going to be happening on your favorite college campus this fall?

Well, so are we.

And we have a wee bit of news to share that might help as you wait.

Esai Morales and Amy Madigan have landed guest starring roles on How to Get Away with Murder Season 3.

And we have absolutely no details about who they will be playing or what they will be doing.

So if you thought ABC and Shonda Rhimes was going to start changing things when it came to Htgawm, well then you were just wrong.

Madigan is a Shondaland multi-player, however.

She previously did a multi-season arc as Meredith's psychiatrist on Grey's Anatomy.

I have a feeling many of you will be familiar with her from that role. So wouldn't it be fun to see her go polar opposite and be rotten to the core on Htgawm?

[[tmz:video id="0_v9fvt6f2"]] Actor Esai Morales is going against the grain in the Latino community -- admitting he's giving serious thought to voting for Donald Trump. The "La Bamba" and "NYPD Blue" star recently played a Latino U.S. prez for the HBO show, "The Brink" ... but seems shaky on when that could happen in real-life. As for whether Donald Trump can dig himself out of the hole with Hispanic voters -- Esai thinks it's possible. Although, his »

Gabrielle Carteris Selected as SAG-AFTRA President

9 April 2016 5:25 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Gabrielle Carteris has become the president of SAG-AFTRA for the next 16 months as the successor to the late Ken Howard, who died March 23.

The union’s national board made the decision Saturday in a vote by acclamation. Carteris has been serving as acting president since Howard’s death.

She had been re-elected to the post of executive vice president at the union’s bi-annual convention in October, topping Patricia Richardson.

The SAG-aftra Constitution, enacted in 2012 as part of the merger of SAG and AFTRA, provides that the exec VP will succeed the president should the office be vacated with the national board then selecting the president to serve the balance of the unexpired term.

SAG-aftra’s next election will take place in August 2017.

“I am deeply honored to be chosen by the SAG-aftra National Board to serve the union and its members as president,” said Carteris. “Ken was a great union leader, »

Patricia Richardson Withdraws as Ken Howard’s Replacement as SAG-aftra President

25 March 2016 2:44 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Update, 4:36 p.m. — Patricia Richardson has declared that she does not want to succeed the late Ken Howard as president of SAG-aftra.

A petition drive was launched Thursday for Richardson to replace Howard. Richardson received 46% of the vote last August in a spirited electoral challenge to Howard, who died on Wednesday.

But Richardson told Variety that she was not comfortable with taking that course.

“While I really do appreciate the sentiments of the members asking me to run as the next President of SAG-aftra my feeling is that when the members elected Ken Howard they also endorsed his party and their philosophy,” she said.

“Therefore it seems right to me that Gabrielle Carteris, who is our Executive Vice President and current acting President should assume the rest of Ken’s term as President at our upcoming Board meeting. Gabrielle shares Ken’s beliefs and worked closely with him. »

Gabrielle Carteris Succeeds Ken Howard as Acting SAG-AFTRA President

23 March 2016 6:59 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Executive vice president Gabrielle Carteris has become acting president of SAG-aftra following Wednesday’s death of SAG-aftra president Ken Howard.

The union’s national board, which holds four meetings a year, will determine who succeeds Howard for the remaining 17 months rest of his term.

Carteris was re-elected to the post of executive vice president at the union’s bi-annual convention in September. The SAG-AFTRA Constitution, enacted in 2012 as part of the merger of SAG and AFTRA, provides that the exec VP will assist the president in the governance of the union and will succeed the president should the office be vacated.

“In the event the office of President becomes vacant for any reason, the Executive Vice President shall assume the duties and responsibilities of the President set forth in this Constitution until the next meeting of the National Board, which shall elect from eligible members a President to serve the »

SAG-aftra Launching Ad Industry Contract Talks in Silence

16 February 2016 6:59 PM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

SAG-aftra and the advertising industry are quietly launching commercial contract talks Wednesday, seven weeks before the current master contract expires on March 31.

Both sides have declined to comment on the talks, which will take place in New York City, and have already agreed to a news blackout until there’s a deal in place.

The current contract covers roughly $1 billion in annual earnings for performers — but the union has made only limited efforts to mobilize its 165,000 members about the issues. It campaigned between October and January against ad agency Droga5 using SAG-aftra members for non-union ads, an assertion that the agency said was not true, then dropped off a petition with 8,000 signatures at the agency’s headquarters.

SAG-aftra-elected leaders also conducted a required series of “wages and working conditions” meetings with members in the fall to hammer out a bargaining proposal. But it has not disclosed any of the »

Drag Wars: Viva Awakens

12 January 2016 8:39 PM, PST | | See recent CultureCatch news »

"Why is everyone on this fucking island addicted to drama?" the all-knowing Mama (a superb Luis Alberto Garcia) moans.

Mama is the owner of a Havana gay bar featuring chintzy drag performers who gesticulate to emotional diva tunes and who, when the show's over, whore a little on the side. That's part of the setting for Viva, Ireland's Spanish-language submission for this year's Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.

Having strutted its way onto a list of nine finalists -- which will eventually be whittled down to a mere five -- Viva showcases nothing a bit Irish onscreen, not even a high kick filched from Michael Flatley. And although some of the shooting was done on the Emerald shores, possibly interior shots, all the Erin-Go-Bragh action is off screen: Paddy Breathnach, director; Mark O'Halloran, screenwriter, and so forth and so on. (There's also a dash of Mexican for added excitement: »
