Best of Bond...James Bond: 50 Years - 50 Tracks review

1 November 2012 1:04 PM, PDT | Shadowlocked | See recent Shadowlocked news »

Ignoring the 1954 American television version of Casino Royale (and one really should), it’s been 50 years this month since James Bond first graced the silver screen and entered the world’s consciousness and collective hearts. Created by author and former secret service agent Ian Fleming, Bond was a Commander in Her Majesty’s Royal Navy who became a Double-o agent of MI6. He’s a spy who kills and loves without conscience, suave yet deadly. The classic cliché of a man who women want and men want to be. Six actors and twenty-two official movies later, and Bond is still just as popular. And now, Capitol Records and MGM Music have released a new album filled with all sorts of musical goodies from those films.

The two-disc set starts off with The John Barry Orchestra performing the now iconic “James Bond Theme”, which is just as exciting to listen to »

The Bourne Legacy

10 August 2012 8:00 AM, PDT | The Scorecard Review | See recent Scorecard Review news »

The Bourne Legacy

Directed by: Tony Gilroy

Cast: Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, David Strathairn, Joan Allen, Oscar Isaac

Running Time: 2 hrs 15 mins

Rating: PG-13

Release Date: August 10, 2012

Plot: A spy (Renner) for the C.I.A uncovers a plot by the agency to poison other agents just like him.

Who’S It For?: If you miss experiencing Jason Bourne movies, you’d be better off getting your hands on the original trilogy. If there’s some empty hole in your soul that craves to see second-grade spies being chased around by people with Bluetooth headsets, then fine, The Bourne Legacy does indeed have both. Just don’t go to this one expecting to actually see Jason Bourne, who only makes an appearance as a mug shot.

Expectations: Jeremy Renner has proven to be a fine action movie commodity, especially in the previous Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. If it matters at all, »

Idiot's Guide to the 'Bourne' Movies

7 August 2012 9:00 AM, PDT | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

The cinematic odyssey of amnesiatic CIA assassin Jason Bourne left a trail of bodies, property damage and wrecked cars, but there's apparently still more carnage to be mined from this franchise in this week's "The Bourne Legacy."

Picking up after (and sometimes during) the previous three movies, "Legacy" presents a new agent named Aaron Cross dealing with government duplicity as many, many bullets are fired at him, seemingly at all times. As Jeremy Renner inherits the Bourne mantle, we look back at his predecessor to help you catch up. It might be difficult, though — Matt Damon can run really fast.

'The Bourne Identity' (2002)

The inaugural entry in this cinematic legacy begins with our hero (Matt Damon) doing the dead man's float in the middle of the Mediterranean when he's caught by some fishermen. Rather than winding up in a yellow Gorton's box at your local supermarket, the unconscious man wakes up, »

Stream Moby's Orchestral New 'Bourne Legacy' Version Of "Extreme Ways"

31 July 2012 12:10 PM, PDT | Filmology | See recent Filmology news »

As you've likely noticed by now, you can't have a Bourne film without Moby's 18 staple "Extreme Ways." This time around, the electronic icon teamed up with composers Joe Trapanese and James Newton Howard (yeah, whoa) plus a 110-piece orchestra to create a sweeping new version of the song for the Bourne Legacy soundtrack.

| Related: Check out where Moby's Wait For Me and Destroyed ranked in our list of the Top 50 Albums in Ology History (2009-present) |

Check out the new version plus an especially cinematic orchestra-only version below.

"Extreme Ways" (Bourne Legacy Version)

Still love the original string loop, but the new version has been decked out with an all-new funky groove and, of course, the full orchestra. It's endlessly fascinating to me that such an unassuming song (or at least I thought so when 18 first came out) has managed to last so long through these movies. Unimpressed? Hop »

As Dr Buckles makes his debut on Sky Atlantic, we look at six of his finest TV moments, from Rock Dad to The It Crowd

Adam & Joe's 6 Music radio show may be a thing of the past, what with Joe hanging out with Hollywood's finest instead of imaginary slobbering dogs these days. But for fans of his erstwhile radio chum Count Buckules these are giddy days indeed. After a three-week hiatus, The Vampire Diaries returns with the first of the final four episodes of the season. We open on Alaric chillin' like a part-time villain in a Salvatore cell. Elena drops by with a satchel of essentials, leading me to uncomfortably ruminate on the notion that whenever indoor plumbing was installed in the antebellum Salvatore mansion it probably wasn't run to the cells. I hope someone remembered a bucket. Ric pokes through the bag and comes up with a copy of Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde. Elena's confused then realizes: “Damon. He thinks he's hilarious.” And he is.

Elena questions the need for Ric to stay in the cell but he assures her it's the best place for him until the others can convince his alter ego, who I'm calling Pric, to give up where he stashed the last White Oak Junior stake. Elena tells him that »
