As Movieline points out, the two biggest water-cooler topics this week are Michael Jackson's death and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. So naturally folks were looking for ways to combine the two, and thanks to Jackson's love for all things science fiction, the search didn't last long. Released in 1988, Moonwalker was a feature-length film starring Michael Jackson that was cut up into several different short films, most of which were long-form music videos used to promote his Bad album. During one memorable scene, Jackson transforms into a robot in order to save some children (including Sean Lennon) from the evil Mr. Big (played by Joe Pesci). Perhaps it's not how Michael Bay would've directed the scene, but it's interesting nonetheless to watch Jackson's...

In a week when Michael Jackson and Michael Bay share top billing in the zeitgeist, it seems only fitting that some overlap of the two would soon emerge to blow everyone's minds. Leave it to a Movieline tipster to find the Rosetta Stone, pointing us back to that glorious day in 1988 when Jackson's film Moonwalker featured the King of Pop in an epic, bittersweet transition from man to machine, saving the world from Joe Pesci and defending Sean Lennon's (among others') innocence in the process. If you've got about 10 minutes -- and for this kind of milestone, you'd better -- grab some Kleenex and flash back with us after the jump.

Yes, he was the punchline of approximately a quarter-million Tonight Show jokes. But Michael Jackson's stop-on-a-dime dance moves and sensual soprano have influenced generations of musicians, dancers and entertainers, and the man was so much more than what the tabloids made him out to be. One of entertainment's greatest icons, he was incredibly gifted, and like most gifted individuals he was an equally troubled genius who kept us captivated at his most dazzling, and at his most appalling moments. The New York Times once described him as one of the six most famous people on the planet. I'd like to up the ante: he was the most famous person on the planet. He influenced artists ranging from Justin Timberlake to Madonna, and genres from rock to pop to R&B to even rap. No other artist has been as unifying. Jackson also helped elevate the music video, turning it

Sean Lennon has said that he is surprised that Bruce Springsteen has been booked to headline the Pyramid Stage at this year's Glastonbury Festival. The musician son of Yoko Ono and late Beatle John Lennon told The Sun that he did not think the rocker fitted in with past headliners. Lennon said: "It's shocking. I’ve been to a few Glastos in my time, I've even played a few, and it (more)

Sean Lennon - the son of Beatles legend John and Yoko Ono - thinks the 'Born to Run' singer is an "outrageous" choice to perform at the British music festival's most prestigious timeslot a week on Saturday night (27.06.09). The 33-year-old musician said: "It's shocking. I have been to Glastonbury a few times, I've even played a few, and it just didn't seem like that was the kind of artist they had headlining. We first heard from Australian-born neo-soul singer Daniel Merriweather on Mark Ronson's groundbreakin 2003 album "Here Comes The Fuzz." Well, here comes smooth-voiced singer's debut album, "Love & War," due some time this fall via J/Allido, Ronson's impring. The set is already burning up the U.K. album chart this week at No. 2. The first look us Yanks get is "Red," video below. In a world where R&B lyrics regularly fall prey to tired cliches and soulless love-language tripe, "Red" has gorgeous words, which Merriweather delivers with sentiment and talented excitement. Listen for contributions from guitarists Sean Lennon and Harper Simon,...

- The pitch is simple. The line-up is impressive. 42 directors explore their dreams in 42 seconds. I'm not sure what relation the 4 minute trailer (see below) has to do with the individual works, but the concept alone merits our Eye Candy mention of the week. Visit the site here. Sponsored by the vodka brand 42 Below, this project includes some bona-fide stars in the auteur cinema field and a good portion of plenty unknowns. Among the names that I consider myself a fan we have the likes of David Lynch and Carlos Reygadas, but we'll be looking out for those in the near future since they have yet to post their contribution, but a small sampling is available on the site. Among those available, we have what I would call more of a day dream from Asia Argento's part "S/He" - her curiosity on transexuals was the basis of her film,

Ah, sponsor-supported film making. It’s a form of embedded advertising and if not for the fact that these projects keep coming out so well I think I’d have to hate them on matter of principal. But I just can’t. The trend got kicked off in a big way when BMW commissioned a series of short films a few years back - films from the likes of Wong Kar Wai, Guy Ritchie, Alejandro Innaritu and others - films that proved a huge hit online and, eventually, in DVD sales. The formula has been copied a few times since then with decidedly more mixed results but now here comes Onedreamrush.
Sponsored by vodka company 42 Below - though their products don’t appear in any of the shorts I have seen so far - Onedreamrush is a series of short films from forty two directors, each of them forty two

We've posted tons of exclusive clips, trailers, images and posters in the past, but this one has to take the cake as one of the strangest, most bizarre pieces of eeriness to ever grace the main page of Cinematical. And that's totally not a bad thing, because the project -- titled Onedreamrush -- is a very cool-sounding collaborative effort between filmmakers, writers, actors and actresses that was created by the New Zealand Vodka brand 42Below and, as such, is the first implicitly branded content ever admitted to the Cannes Film Festival.
Essentially, a bunch of world-renowned artists were brought together to create 42 films, each 42 seconds long and all of them about the interpretation of dreams. Among those featured are Abel Ferrara, David Lynch, Asia Argento, James Franco, Kenneth Anger, Arden Wohl, Sean Lennon, Mike Figgis, Harmony Korine and so many more. Each director's film will be featured at this website for one year,

The thesp couple performed together in three indie films releasing this year—Wake, Made for Each Other and The Bridge to Nowhere. The sometimes-model and sometimes-dj Mom Jeans have been dating for more than three years. Phillips, whose godfather was Andy Warhol, once dated Sean Lennon.

Lindsay Lohan left her NYC hotel earlier today to meet up with Samantha at Charlotte Ronson's fashion show. Just like last season, Lindsay appeared to be one of the event's main attractions - but when she wasn't with Sam in the DJ booth, she made time to mingle with other Ronsons like Mark, Anne, and Annabelle. She missed all of last night's kickoff festivities, starting with the Victoria's Secret "What Is Sexy Party?" attended by Gerard Butler and Hayden Panettiere. Rachel Zoe was also out on the scene, heading from the Vogue/BMW party to the amfAR Gala with Anna Wintour and Taylor Momsen. Elsewhere, new couple Robert Buckley and Privileged's Joanna Garcia checked out Rebecca Minkoff's presentation, while Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, and Hilary Duff put on their red dresses to strut their stuff at the annual Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection bash. It's only day one of New York Fashion Week,

Are Julian Lennon and Sean Lennon looking to give peace a chance? The half-brothers, often caught between the former Beatle's widow, Yoko Ono (aka Sean's mom), and first wife, Cynthia (Julian's maternal unit), could be performing together in public for the first time. And the even would take place, appropriately enough, at the United Nations. Per FoxNews.com, Lennon's offspring will duet at the U.N.'s Mdg Awards on Feb. 26, an event paying tribute to individuals, organizations and nations working to implement the body's Millennium Development Goals. Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, Macy Gray and Akon are also among those reportedly slated to perform before 3,000 guests...

English fashion model Daisy Lowe has had a busy start in this year with two major ad campaigns under her belt. First she appeared in new ads for Marc by Marc Jacobs and Pringle of Scotland, and now she's debuted as the latest Dkny girl.
The ad campaign is shot by legendary fashion photographer The Sartorialist's Scott Schuman. Daisy strikes her pose in a khaki playsuit, white heeled boots and a pair of aviators, reports Marie Claire.
The shot sees Daisy looking at ease in her new hometown, New York and reflects the city's street style in a denim jumpsuit. Daisy joins Chanel Iman, Sean Lennon and Kelly Osbourne, who have all previously appeared in Dkny ads.
The 19-year-old is the daughter of Pearl Lowe, the singer/songwriter turned textile and fashion designer, and Gavin Rossdale, the front man for the band Bush.
