Nick Lachey has claimed that there is always a chance that 98 Degrees could reform in the future. The singer and reality star, who is currently fronting NBC's The Sing Off, launched his career as a member of the 1990s band, who sold more than ten million records before deciding to take a break in 2002. Speaking to Digital Spy, he said: "You never know! We always kept that door wide open so we'll see!" Lachey went on to admit that hosting the a capella competition had made (more) »

There are a few key things you should know about NBC's a capella singing competition show "The Sing-Off," which premiered Monday night (December 14). First, it's not very good. Unless you're one of those people who are super-enthusiastic about the Whiffenpoofs, singing groups get pretty grating after a few minutes — even the good ones. On the bright side, the talent assembled to judge the competition is a top-shelf group of folks who could use the work. Plus, it's hosted by the always-charming Nick Lachey, who should really have his own talk show (or perhaps some sort of outward-bound experience type of thing — like "Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations").
The judges include Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men and former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, but the highlight of Monday night's episode was Ben Folds, the manic piano player and former frontman of the Ben Folds Five. Folds is one of the most underrated songwriters of his generation, »

"The Sing-Off" is a four night special holiday event that begins Monday, December 14 at 8pm Et through 10pm Et. Former 98 Degrees member Nick Lachey will be hosting the event which should draw our attention away immediately, but considering singer/song-writer Ben Folds is one of the judges, we may stick around after all. According to reports, "The Sing-Off" is like "American Idol" for cappella groups. The show premiered tonight and will continue on both Tuesday and Wednesday night with a live finale scheduled for December 21. Sounds like a nice little Christmas event the whole family can enjoy. So be sure to tune in tomorrow night at 8pm Et as this special event continues.

Now that Glee is on hiatus, might we sustain ourselves with its real-life counterpart? NBC's hoping so, with its Nick Lachey-hosted a capella contest Sing-Off debuting tonight. Deja vu? You're remembering Clash of the Choirs from 2007. At least I am, because I totally watched that. Because, sigh, I'm obsessed with choral shows. Welcome to my shame journal, PopWatchers! For example, I was slavishly devoted to Tlc's short-lived Trial By Choir: Anyone? Anyone else moved by the uplifting powers of song and the transcendent spirit of community? Just me? I'm hoping Sing-Off is popular so some enterprising network executive will »

Fans mourning Glee's winter hiatus have something to look forward to: NBC's The Sing-Off (premiering Monday at 8/7c). Nick Lachey hosts the four-night a cappella singing competition that features eight groups battling for a $100,000 prize and an Epic Records/Sony recording contract. Judging The Sing-Off are Ben Folds of Ben Folds Five, Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men and Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger. TVGuide.com spoke to Lachey about the show and why his hosting gig has made him miss 98 Degrees.
TVGuide.com: What sets The Sing-Off apart from the rest of the singing shows out there?
Nick Lachey: This is an a cappella competition so there's no band, no background music — it's just about the human voice. There's a lot of extra pressure that goes along with that, but at the same time when it's done well it's even that much more impressive to hear a great a cappella performance. »

The march towards the holidays continues, and though there are plenty of high-profile movies, television and concert events to promote, the talk show circuit is winding down, with this week being the last full week of guests before many of the shows go on hiatus for the last few weeks of the year. There are plenty of stars making the rounds this week, though there is no shortage of repeat guests. For example, after appearing on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" last week, Snoop Dogg will be a guest on "The Colbert Report" on Monday (December 14), on "The View" on Tuesday (December 15) and on "Last Call with Carson Daly" on Friday (December 18). (Luckily, there's no such thing as too much Snoop.)
Elsewhere in the late night world, Kris Allen will perform on "The Late Show with David Letterman" on Wednesday (December 16). Over on NBC, Jay Leno welcomes Nick Lachey on »

Two years ago, NBC aired a four-night reality ">mini-series competition between choirs that were mentored by celebrities including Nick Lachey. Tonight, the network debuts a four-night mini-series competition between a capella singers starring Nick Lachey. Where did they get that idea? The mini-series wasn't renewed although it got what would be decent ratings today--about eight million viewers a night--so it's obvious why NBC is trying again. A two-hour episode airs tonight starting at 8 p.m. »

NBC's new show The Sing Off was inspired by a movie script, according to the series's executive producer. The four-night event, hosted by Nick Lachey, revolves around eight a capella groups battling to win a recording contract with Epic Records/Sony Music and $$100,000. "It started with a film that was being developed by Sony Pictures around the a cappella world, especially at colleges and universities," explained Joel Gallen. "The way I understand it, the chairman of Sony Pictures was reading the script and not only responding to how good the idea was for a movie. She immediately contacted (more) »

Nick Lachey has insisted that contestants on his upcoming a capella show The Sing Off will have "nowhere to hide". "How much you put into it and how much you prepare and practice will be one of the really telling things." The singer continued to say that a capella performances "encompass so many things" and that contestants would (more) »
