They say when you love something you have to let it go, but that’s not the case for Jaime King and her cozy California home.

Although her house was “calm” at first, it filled up fast after she married filmmaker Kyle Newman, 41. The couple had plenty of room for to carve out a midcentury-style nursery for their first son James, »

26 April 2017 7:53 AM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

When Barbara Kavovit tells you how she got her start as one of the most powerful women in the male-dominated field of construction management, she starts at the very beginning.

“I have to start by telling you where I was born, because it plays a major role in my development,” she says. “I was born in the Bronx. I always reference that because it gives you this edge.” And an edge is something the native New Yorker has been fighting (successfully) to keep for more than two decades.

Pot TV: Celebrate 4/20 By Watching the Most Memorable Stoner Shows

20 April 2017 9:41 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

It’s not a federally recognized holiday, but the peaceful spirit of April 20 – otherwise known as the marijuana-enhanced 4-20 – is one worth celebrating. While still technically an illegal substance in most areas of the world, some of our favorite TV shows are clearly enhanced by being under the influence. Pot imbues them with a certain sensibility that may heighten the mood, even without chemical assistance.

Here are some of our favorite series, all available on streaming services, that acknowledge weed as a normal part of life for many Americans (even though a lot of the characters on this list probably shouldn’t be described as “normal”).

“Bored to Death”

Jonathan Ames’ HBO comedy was a celebration of both pot’s mellow and extreme mind-altering states. On the one hand, a little bit of suspension of disbelief was needed to buy into the oddball adventures of Jonathan (Jason Schwartzman), a novelist turned unlicensed private investigator. »

Feathers and Female Transformations: Becoming-Animal in ‘Black Swan’

20 April 2017 7:51 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Darren Aronofsky’s film portrays the horror and violence of becoming a different species.

When I first watched Darren Aronofsky’s 2011 film Black Swan, I immediately knew that it was the kind of film that required multiple viewings. Naturally, I went back to the theater and watched it again before buying a DVD copy which I have since worn out with repeated viewings. Black Swan is a dense and layered film, with so much to focus on: the theme of doubles and doppelgangers, the prominence of mirrors, the way the plot matches the story of Swan Lake, the meticulously crafted visuals, and the film’s obsession with differing expressions of femininity. However, it wasn’t until I took a class focusing on Animals in Cinema that I realized this film deals with a woman’s literal transformation into a swan. Nina’s (Natalie Portman) transformation into a swan neatly matches up with French philosophers Gilles Deleuze and »

'Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights' Star Romola Garai Says She Was Body Shamed on Set

Those Havana Nights were not a good experience for Romola Garai.

The 34-year-old actress recalls working on the 2004 prequel Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, revealing that it opened her eyes to sexism in the movie industry.

Exclusive: Kathy Griffin on Sexism in Hollywood

During an interview with U.K.'s The Guardian, Garai says a female producer on the film pointed to the then 17-year-old actress' legs on set and said, "'This isn’t good enough.'"

"It screwed me up for years," Garai says. "Not only did it completely change how I felt about my body, but I felt like I’d failed because I hadn’t fought back."

"I felt complicit, because I didn’t say no," she adds. "I signed off on Photoshopped images and felt terrible for perpetrating this… lie."

Even so, it did shape how she feels about misogyny today.

Jessica Chastain Speaks Out Against Pay Inequality In Hollywood

18 April 2017 7:40 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Over the past year, we’ve seen Hollywood’s deeply embedded gender inequality get called out by several high-profile actors. Last November, Mila Kunis published an op-ed in A Plus that described an instance where being called “Ashton’s wife and baby momma” in an email from a producer caused her to pull out of a project. In January, Natalie Portman admitted in an interview with Reuters that the pay gap between actors and actresses was “crazy,” noting that she had been paid three times less than costar Kutcher for her role in the 2011 comedy “No Strings Attached.” Both instances garnered widespread public support, with other actresses and creatives sharing their own experiences as a result.

‘The Leftovers’: The Story Behind The Giant Gary Busey Blow-Up Doll

Tom Perrotta can’t stop laughing.

The author of “The Leftovers” novel and co-creator of the series is listening to his partner in mischief, Damon Lindelof, explain why and how Gary Busey became the biggest part (literally) of the series’ Season 3 premiere. He knows the story. He was there when it happened. But hey, it’s still really, really funny.

Which, for the record, isn’t a compliment paid to “The Leftovers” often enough, especially since the jokes have been there from the start — just like Gary Busey.
