Moffat On Harkness, Song "Doctor Who" Return

18 December 2014 7:37 AM, PST | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Current "Doctor Who" show runner Steven Moffat has revealed that he is open to having two key characters he introduced to the world of 'Who' back on the show - Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) and Professor River Song (Alex Kingston). He tells Zap2It:

"It's never, ever closed off. It's all about 'Do you have a story that's worth it? Unless you've got a story that is absolutely informed and invigorated by their presence, just bringing a character back in an ordinary story won't do...

Both River Song and Jack Harkness are massive characters in 'Doctor Who' mythology. Their returns would have to be seismic, not routine. Sometimes you have to know when a story's over, you do. One of the things you always want to say is 'leave them wanting more.'"

These days Barrowman and Kingston are recurring guest stars on The CW's "Arrow," playing »

Doctor Who: Moffat open to River Song and Captain Jack returns

17 December 2014 12:35 AM, PST | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

If the story was right, River Song and Captain Jack could return to Doctor Who, says Mr Steven Moffat

In the world of Doctor Who, almost any character from the show’s past could make a return with the right amount of narrative trickery and, ahem, timey-wimey stuff. However, we haven’t seen River Song since 2013, or Captain Jack since 2011, despite the fact that both characters have been known to time-travel a fair bit.

So, has Moffat closed the lid on those characters, or is he open to returns from Alex Kingston and John Barrowman? Well, a mix of the two it would seem – there are seemingly no immediate plans, but if the story was right, The Moff would be up for it.

“It’s never, ever closed off,” Mr Moffat told Zap2It. “It’s all about ‘Do you have a story that’s worth it?'”

Doctor Who's Steven Moffat: 'River Song, Jack Harkness could return'

16 December 2014 12:01 PM, PST | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has hinted that River Song (Alex Kingston) and Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) could return to the series.

John Barrowman has lobbied for Captain Jack to make a comeback since his last Doctor Who appearance in 2010, while Song was seemingly written out in series seven.

Moffat has now addressed the fates of the popular Doctor Who characters, suggesting that the idea of Captain Jack and River Song appearing again is "never, ever closed off".

"It's all about, 'Do you have a story that's worth it?'" he told Zap2it. "Unless you've got a story that is absolutely informed and invigorated by their presence, just bringing a character back in an ordinary story won't do."

The writer went on to say: "Both River Song and Jack Harkness are massive characters in Doctor Who mythology. Their returns would have to be seismic, not routine."

Joining returning familiar faces Alex Kingston, Manu Bennett, Bex Taylor Klaus and Caity Lotz in upcoming season 3 episodes of the CW's Arrow is Peter Stormare's Count Vertigo. Entertainment Weekly report that the Blacklist actor will reprise the role of Werner Zytle in episode 13 of the show, but they don't have any further details on the manner of his return. Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim does offer a few extra titbits however. “It’s a thrill to have Peter Stormare return as Vertigo,” he tells the site. “When people see this episode, I think they’ll find that it’s a culmination of a lot of elements that we’ve put into place in the first 12 episodes of Season 3. For that reason, it felt appropriate to us to have Peter return since he was the villain of the episode that kicked off all of this madness. It’s also just a »

In ETonline’s exclusive Arrow clip from Wednesday’s episode, “The Climb,” Laurel (Katie Cassidy) is in for a big shock when she walks in to her father’s Starling City Pd office only to be unexpectedly reunited with her mother, Dinah (Alex Kingston).

“Mom…” Laurel trails off, as her mother comes in for an embrace. “I didn’t know that you were coming to town.”

Turns out her father Quentin (Paul Blackthorne) had planned Dinah’s return as a “Christmas surprise.” Judging by the look on Laurel’s face, however, it’s clear this wasn’t what she had in mind – considering her parents still don’t know the truth about Sara.

'Arrow' Midseason Finale Clip Reveals a Surprise Twist

9 December 2014 4:36 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Fans finally get to find out who killed Sara Lance, a.k.a. Black Canary in a shocking new clip from the Arrow midseason finale "The Climb", airing Wednesday, December 10 at 8 Pm Et on The CW. Bear in mind, this surprising revelation may be just a bit of misdirection to keep fans on their toes, since The CW likely won't spoil a massive plot twist like this in a clip one day before the episode airs. Still, it sets up an intriguing possibility for the finale, where Oliver is given just 48 hours to find Sara's killer by the nefarious Ra's al Ghul (Matt Nable), or else he'll start murdering innocent citizens of Starling City.

The clip also alludes to tonight's midseason finale of The Flash, where we see Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) talking on the phone with Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker). We also see a computer monitor that displays »
