Review: DC Super Hero Girls: Intergalactic Games

25 May 2017 2:38 PM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

What a great time to be a grandparent (or so I’m told). There are now plenty of books, games, clothing, and video to encourage girls to be strong and independent. DC Comics offers up their Super Hero Girls line and this week they have released their second animated feature, DC Super Hero Girls: Intergalactic Games, a 77-minute romp.

Writer Shea Fontana improves on the first offering with a story set at the Intergalactic Games where Earth’s powered women take on the vile challengers from Korugar Academy. To prepare for the competition Academy teacher Doc Magnus (Phil Lamarr) is building battlebots and supervising Batgirl (Mae Whitman) and Bumblebee (Teala Dunn) as they build their own. Principal Waller (Yvette Nicole Brown) is not amused nor is she happy that Magnus’ bots seem to have free will but were not programmed with any morality, a theme that plays out across the 77-minute fast-paced story. »

Marvel’s miniature superhero Scott Lang is coming to Disney Xd next month for a brand new series of animated Ant-Man shorts, and thanks to EW we’ve got a poster and a pair of first look images…

The Ant-Man series will consist of six two-minute shorts, and are created by Passion Pictures, the studio behind the recent Rocket and Groot cartoons. Josh Keaton will lend his voice to Scott Pim who will fight crime alongside the Wasp and Hank Pym, as well as taking occasional breaks to help his daughter Cassie with her homework.

The first three shorts – ‘Science Fair’, ‘Alien Invasion’ and ‘Soup Time’ – will air on Disney Xd on June 10th, with the following three – ‘Exterminator’, ‘Proton Cube’ and ‘Not a Date’ – airing on June 11th. »

Take A First Look At Disney Xd’s Upcoming Ant-Man Series Revolving Around Scott Lang

Ever since Disney purchased Marvel, they’ve exploited the company’s many characters in movies, on television, in theme parks, and stores across the world. That’s ensured that the likes of Iron Man and Spider-Man are known by people of all ages, but less popular heroes have also been given the chance to shine; take Ant-Man for example.

Ant-Man and The Wasp is set to be released next year, but in the meantime, some new animated shorts are on the way to Disney Xd. These follow on from the ones we saw revolving around Guardians of the Galaxy characters Rocket and Groot and are set to premiere on June 10th and 11th.

Josh Keaton is voicing Scott Lang in the shorts and the hero will be shown fighting evil alongside both The Wasp and Hank Pym. He’ll score occasional breaks as well to help daughter Cassie with her homework, »

Ant-Man will shrink onto the small screen, for a series of shorts on Disney Xd...

Fittingly enough, Ant-Man is going to flit between the big and small screens. Scott Lang is shrinking to telly size for Disney Xd, to appear in a series of shorts entitled Marvel's Ant-Man

See related  Star Wars: Rogue One review Star Wars: Rogue One - what did you think?

Josh Keaton (heard recently in Ben-10 and Voltron: Legendary Defender) will step into Paul Rudd's shoes to voice crook-turned-hero Scott.

The shorts will follow on from the events of Peyton Reed's 2015 Ant-Man movie, but, as with the Guardians Of The Galaxy animated series, we wouldn't expect them to be officially canonical with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The cinematic sequel Ant-Man And The Wasp, we expect, won't need to shape its script to account for these events.
