Telemundo Taps Enrique Iglesias to Woo Madison Avenue

26 April 2017 12:29 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Executives at NBCUniversal’s Telemundo hope a  new song captures the interest of advertisers as the industry’s “upfront” season gets underway.

Enrique Iglesias will hold forth at a private event for advertisers that Telemundo expects to launch the evening of Monday, May 15, part of an effort to talk about the Spanish-language network’s ratings momentum; a growing focus on programming based on musical themes; and Telemundo’s first broadcast of the World Cup in 2018. With the network notching significant gains in viewers between 18 and 49 in primetime, “we believe 2017-2018 will be a doubling down of that momentum,”said Cesar Conde, chairman of NBCUniversal International Group and NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, in an interview.

“It’s a big change,” he said of the coming World Cup broadcast. For years, the event’s broadcast has been the responsibility of rival Univision Communications. Telemundo can use the event as a promotional platform for other programming. And »

The Funniest Memes About Kendall Jenner’s Pepsi Ad Fiasco

The controversial Pepsi ad starring Kendall Jenner may have been short-lived, but unfortunately for those involved its legacy will be immortalized on the internet forever.

The spot—which depicted the reality star easing the tension between police officers and protestors with a can of Pepsi—was widely seen as insensitive and tone deaf, prompting the company to pull the ad just one day after it was released.

Everyone from Lena Dunham to Madonna to Bernice King have since skewered the ad, and as is common in the age of social media, many others took to their keyboards to express their feelings. »

Britney Spears Honored Idols Beyoncé and Madonna for International Women’s Day

This article originally appeared on Time.com.

Even Britney Spears is getting in on the celebration for International Women’s Day on March 8, tweeting an homage to pop icons (and, perhaps, idols) Beyoncé and Madonna. “Always fierce throughout their careers,” she wrote. “Thank you for being amazing.”

Spears has had the pleasure of working with both inspiring women in her own career, their relationships going quite far back. She and Beyoncé costarred (with Pink) in a classic Pepsi Super Bowl ad in 2004, an early girl-power-themed spot that saw them banding together to overturn the despotic rule of Enrique Iglesias in a gladiator-like setup. »

It's backstage on the New York leg of Pete Homles’ stand-up tour to help promote his new HBO series Crashing, and he's testing a stray thought before stepping onstage. Well, this could have been very awkward.  Marc Anthony and his soon-to-be ex-wife Shannon de Lima attended the same Enrique Iglesias and Gente de Zona concert in La Romana, Dominican Republic on December 30.  Only one thing to note, they weren't there together.
