TV Star Apologizes to Pfeiffer

10 October 2002 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Everybody Loves Raymond star Patricia Heaton has apologized to Michelle Pfeiffer after claiming the movie star had undergone plastic surgery - at the hands of her own doctor. Heaton shocked viewers of David Letterman's late night talk show in America last week when she talked joked about Pfeiffer's cosmetic surgery, but now she insists she was joking. Heaton says, "In an attempt at being humorous, I made statements regarding an actress and plastic surgery that were completely fabricated. I have since spoken with Michelle, and she has very graciously accepted my apology." Heaton also blamed the media for misconstruing her comments and assuming she was talking about Pfeiffer. A spokeswoman for Pfeiffer confirmed the apology has been accepted but says, "This is serious. I don't want this to just be a joke that went awry." »

Actress Blasts 'Plastic' Pfeiffer

8 October 2002 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Hollywood beauty Michelle Pfeiffer is embroiled in an argument with sitcom actress Patricia Heaton over whether or not she's had plastic surgery. Everybody Loves Raymond star Heaton has just published a book describing all the surgery she has undergone and appeared on The Late Show With David Letterman last week to talk about it. During the chat she launched a thinly veiled attack on What Lies Beneath star Pfeiffer, telling Letterman that she was sick of all the stars who denied their perfect features were surgically enhanced and going on to identify a "very famous actress" who was on the "cover of a big fashion magazine this month." Pfeiffer seemed the likely target - she fronted Harper's Bazaar magazine this month and was quoted inside it as saying, "Oh, you know, Botox and plastic surgery scare me." But Heaton wasn't impressed with Pfeiffer's comments, telling Letterman, "Oh, that's interesting because I just interviewed the (plastic surgeon) that did (Pfeiffer)." But rather than throw a tantrum at Heaton's unflattering comments, Pfeiffer has taken the criticism in her stride and shrugged off the accusations. She says, "I guess as long as people keep saying I have had plastic surgery, I can continue to put it off for a few more years." »
