Whether or not you agree with today's Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage(*), there can be no argument that this was a historic day in America. (*) And as a reminder, this blog is not the place to debate the merits of that ruling. In watching the news coverage of the decision, reading the official Court opinion and the four dissenting ones, it was hard not to think of the not insignificant role TV played in paving the way for this decision. This was a case that wound its way through the courts, just as the wave of state-level cases did over the last few years, and it involved lawyers and activists and politicians and judges. But it also involved changing attitudes across the country about gay people and same-sex relationships, and that's where pop culture in general and TV in particular come into play. TV shows come into our homes (and these days, »

From Zoolander 2 to 23 Jump Street, with 100s in-between. Here's our rundown of the assorted movie sequels in the works...
Think Hollywood is bereft of original ideas? You just might after this. Here's our look at the assorted movie sequels currently in the works. Since we last did a list like this, we've dropped films that seem to have died a death - Wanted 2, Spring Breakers 2 - but we'll keep this rundown up to date over the coming month.
Without further ado...
23 Jump Street
Sony is pressing ahead with a third Jump Street movie, as well as a possible Jump Street vs Men In Black film, and a female-headlined spin-off. For 23 Jump Street specifically, Rodney Rothman is back and working on the script (he wrote the second one). It's unclear yet if Chris Miller and Phil Lord can find breathing space in their schedule to direct. Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are both expected back, »
Though it remains improbable that the whole shebang will be released on video (due to unions-related this-and-that), portions of the Smash cast’s one-night-only “Bombshell” concert have surfaced, thank Ellis.

Earlier this year, Bob Odenkirk pulled off what many actors before him could not, transitioning his supporting character Saul Goodman from “Breaking Bad” into the lead of its spinoff show, “Better Call Saul.”
Prior to the show’s February premiere, there were doubts. Saul was a fun ancillary character, but could he carry a show on his own? Were people really interested in the backstory of a cheesy billboard attorney?
Judging by the ratings — the premiere set a record for the highest-rated scripted series premiere in cable history — the answer was a resounding yes. But even more than eyeballs, the response from critics and “Breaking Bad” fans was overwhelmingly positive. People were interested, intrigued and, perhaps above all, relieved.

As it closes in on its second consecutive season-long victory in the key adult 18-49 demographic, NBC unveils a new 2015-16 primetime schedule that combines popular returning series, edge-of-your-seat new dramas, inventive new comedies and season nine of the Emmy Award-winning musical competition series The Voice. NBC is on track to win the traditional September-to-May primetime season in adults 18-49 for the second year in a row after having gone the prior 10 years without an 18-49 win. Through 32 completed weeks of the season, NBC also ranks #1 or tied for #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults and men 18-34 and men and women 18-49.
In total viewers, NBC is running #2 for the season and within 7% of its year-ago Olympics-boosted average (8.8 million vs. 9.5 million), making this season and last NBC's two top-scoring seasons in total viewers since 2006-07. NBC has won the last three November sweeps in adults 18-49, as well as »
Although it premiered to very mixed reviews and seemingly disappointing box office back in 2012, it appears there’s life in The Three Stooges yet. An independent production team is reuniting Larry (Sean Hayes), Curly (Will Sasso) and Moe (Chris Diamantopoulos) for more comedy madness in a sequel. While Dumb And Dumber duo Peter and Bobby Farrelly were the co-writers and directors last time, realising a long-held dream to bring the characters to a new audience, Variety’s story on the sequel makes no mention of either. Instead, Cameron Fay has been hired to write the script, which will apparently have more of an action comedy slant this time, with producers C3 Entertainment looking to add a big star into the mix.“With Sean, Chris and Will back as our Stooges, and Cameron writing, this next film will be a truly unique blend of fast paced action with the hilarious mayhem of The Three Stooges, »
Sean Hayes, Chris Diamantopoulos and Will Sasso – stars of the Farrelly Brothers’ 2012 comedy The Three Stooges – are set to reprise the roles of Larry, Moe and Curly for an upcoming action comedy from independent producers C3 Entertainment, Grand Peaks Entertainment and The Exchange.
“With Sean, Chris and Will back as our Stooges and Cameron Fay [Brother in Laws] writing, this next film will be a truly unique blend of fast paced action with the hilarious mayhem of the Three Stooges,” said Earl Benjamin, CEO of C3, which owns the Three Stooges brand.
The Farrelly’s Three Stooges received mixed reviews when it was released in 2012, and also struggled at the box office, pulling in just under $55 million from a budget of $30 million.

If you didn't get enough of all the "nyuk-nyuk-nyuking" and slapstick comedy in the 2012 remake of The Three Stooges, get ready for even more zaniness. Sean Hayes, Chris Diamantopoulos and Will Sasso are set to reprise their roles as Larry, Moe and Curly in a movie sequel, C3 Entertainment, one of its production companies, confirmed in a website post on Friday, following reports by Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. Sasso, 39, had recently reunited with his co-stars. In April, he posted an Instagram selfie showing himself with Hayes, 44, and Diamantopoulos, who turns 40 on Saturday. "Me and my favorite Stooges," Sasso said. "The Three Stooges are returning to »
The Three Stooges didn.t make too much of a splash when it was released back in 2012. Not only did it only gross $50.4 million from its $30 million budget, but it was met with lukewarm reviews, as well. However, C3 Entertainment, Grand Peaks Entertainment, and The Exchange clearly still see some kind of potential in the comedy because the studios have banded together to order a sequel, which will bring its three leading actors, Sean Hayes, Chris Diamantopoulos and Will Sasso, back too. According to Deadline, Cameron Fay has been hired to write the follow-up, while it.s still not known if the Farrelly Brothers will return for joint director duties. However, as Bobby and Peter Farrelly wrote the original alongside Mike Cerrone before they then went on to direct, it.s highly unlikely that they will decide to step into the breach again, having not been given the responsibility of »
The Three Stooges were a major part of my youth; watching Moe, Larry, Curly, and Shemp engage in choreographed slapstick always brought a smile to my face. The idea of other actors stepping into those roles felt like an impossibility, but I knew it was only a matter of time before I (and other Stooge fans) would have to deal with that very thing. Chris Diamantopoulos, Sean Hayes, and Will Sasso stepped in to fill the roles of Moe, Larry, and Curly for The Three Stooges from the »

People Are Talking, created by DJ Nash, centers on two neighborhood couples who meet often to obsess over everything from sex, class and race to their suspicions that the new babysitter is a porn star. Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tone Bell are two of the main foursome, Packer will exec-produce and Pam Fryman (How I Met Your Mother) directed the pilot.
Crowded, from Martin and actor Sean Hayes, is yet another multigenerational family comedy (following Modern Family, The Goldbergs, Black-ish, Fresh Off the Boat and others in what seems to be a never-ending trend) about parents whose future plans are derailed when their two adult daughters experience trouble in their personal and professional lives and move back in. The Three Stooges are coming back, again. Sean Hayes, Chris Diamantopoulos, and Will Sasso are set to return as the idiot brothers in a new sequel to the 2012 comedy by the Farrelly brothers. 2012’s The Three Stooges is not a bad movie. It’s not a good one, but it’s nowhere near the wretched mess the trailers made it out to be. It’s a kids’ movie, but not one that’s painful to sit through if you’re an adult. The movie was a lot of goofy slapstick, and the film worked on its own merits. So while others may be groaning at the prospect of a sequel, I don’t mind that another Three Stooges movie is moving forwards. C3, Grand Peak, and The Exchange have announced that they’re creating a new Three Stooges, and that Sean Hayes (Larry), Chris Diamantopoulos (Moe) and Will Sasso (Curly), will reprise their roles and be joined by a major action star, who is Tba. The press release makes no mention of the Farrelly Brothers, who were the major force driving The Three Stooges, »
