'Awake' series finale will be satisfying, Jason Isaacs and Kyle Killen promise

24 May 2012 1:34 PM, PDT | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

Jason Isaacs admits he finds it “strangely ironic and amusing” to be promoting tonight’s season finale of NBC’s Awake (10 p.m. Et), given that the show has been canceled. But receiving so many calls after the first hour of the two-part finale aired last week — and ended with his Det. Michael Britten shot in the reality in which his wife survived the fatal car accident, and placed in a police holding cell in the reality in which his son lived — recharged him. “I think we burned briefly but brightly,” he tells EW. “The fact that we’re not »

17 May 2012 11:53 AM, PDT | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

Tonight, NBC’s Awake begins its two-part series finale. (It concludes May 24.)

In the clip below, we see Bird (Steve Harris), Michael’s partner in the reality where his son is alive, go visit Dr. Evans (Cherry Jones), to ask her if he has a reason to be concerned about Michael (Jason Isaacs).

Michael has called in sick for the last of couple of days and hasn’t returned Bird’s calls. Bird then went to his house and found a collection of police reports about Michael’s accident and files on Det. Ed Hawkins (Kevin Weisman) — who is Bird »

Awake: Cancelled; No Season Two

12 May 2012 10:19 AM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

It's the nightmare NBC's Awake fans were dreading. NBC has cancelled the show after 13 episodes and one season.

Created by Kyle Killen (Lone Star), Awake revolves around a police detective (Jason Isaacs) who, after being in a horrific car accident, finds that he's living in two realities. In one, his son perished -- in the other, his wife did. The cast also includes Laura Allen, Steve Harris, Dylan Minnette, B. D. Wong, Michaela McManus, Wilmer Valderrama, and Cherry Jones.

The complex drama had an unimpressive debut back on March 1st, registering a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.24 million viewers. NBC had released the pilot episode well in advance so some believed that hurt the premiere ratings.

Theoretically the second episode should have shown signs of growth but it didn't. Week two dropped 20%. Week three remained »

We Regret to Inform You: Awake Canceled

11 May 2012 2:35 PM, PDT | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

I thought of titling this post “Breaking Bad News” but figured some of you might have been misled. It is bad news, and it is breaking, and heartbreaking for those of us who have been loving the smart, layered, high concept, high quality Awake. NBC has made it known that there will be no Season 2.

Awake creator/showrunner Kyle Killen (Lone Star) was gracious in his tweet:

guys its cool. awake lasted 600% longer than lone star. at that rate next 1 be on until end of time. now, anyone know if Whitney is hiring?

Kyle Killen (@killen8) May 11, 2012

followed by:

that was not meant to be shot at Whitney #promise #justlookingforplacetotakeairmattress

Kyle Killen (@killen8) May 11, 2012

because yes indeed, NBC comedy Whitney did indeed inexplicably get picked up for a second season.

On NBC we are now left with the wonderful Grimm, and hopes for Mockingbird Lane, whose delayed production has so »

'Awake's' Major Twist: Has One Timeline Disappeared Forever?

10 May 2012 5:10 AM, PDT | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

Arguably the biggest question of NBC's compelling drama "Awake" has been which of Britten's (Jason Isaacs) realities is real? Both? Just one? Neither? The other major mystery: Will Britten ever remember the circumstances surrounding that car "accident" that split his life in two? Looks like we might be getting some answers to both questions ... and likely, even more questions as a result.

We've got an exclusive sneak peek at the opening for this week's episode, "The Little Guy" (Thurs., May 10, 10 p.m. Et on NBC), which surfaces some serious issues for Britten with the introduction of a character that's only been cryptically referenced before.

Watch the clip above to see Britten unraveling with his "red timeline" therapist Dr. Lee (Bd Wong), then tell us: Do you think Britten will find a way to get back to his "green timeline" to see his son Rex again?

Awake: Will It Be Cancelled or Renewed for Season Two?

8 April 2012 10:29 AM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

This season alone, two of NBC's most anticipated new Thursday night TV series -- Prime Suspect and The Firm -- have flopped. Is Awake different? Will it be cancelled or survive to see a second season?

Awake revolves around police detective Michael Britten (Jason Isaacs) following a horrific car accident with his wife (Laura Allen) and son (Dylan Minnette). Britten discovers that he's living two parallel realities. In one, his wife died in the accident. In the other, his son did. As he tries to discover what's going on, he finds that details from both realities seem to bleed into the other. The cast also includes B.D. Wong, Cherry Jones, Michaela McManus, Steve Harris, and Wilmer Valderrama.

The show debuted on March 1st with lots of positive reviews, a mediocre 2.0 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic, and 6.24 million total viewers. It was first »

New Clips From Tonight’s Episode of Awake Plus Season Finale News

5 April 2012 4:00 AM, PDT | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

It looks like things are going to get ramped up tonight on this excellent show, and not just because of the addition of the, oh let’s call it a “guest star” in the first clip. The second clip is extremely worrisome for Michael fans like me; things aren’t looking good for our hero this week. But judge for yourself:

TVLine is reporting that the last two episodes of the season will air back to back on May 17 from 9-11, right in the middle of May sweeps. That means that the entire season will have aired without interruption. Thank you, NBC.

Will we be seeing more about that very interesting park bench conversation from the end of episode 2 tonight? I can’t wait to find out.

Awake, starring Jason Isaacs, Laura Allen, Dylan Minnette, Bd Wong, and Steve Harris, airs Thursday nights at 10/9c on NBC. »

Steve Harris of 'Awake' on Why You Should Watch 'The Best Drama on TV'

5 April 2012 12:00 AM, PDT | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

Steve Harris would do well to look on the bright side. If his show, Awake (which airs Thursdays on NBC at 10pm), is cancelled during or after its critically-acclaimed first season run, he can certainly fall back on a career in sales.

In a scene that evoked memories of Ben Affleck in Boiler Room, Harris met a trio of reporters at 30 Rockerfeller Plaza on Monday, and made a sales pitch for Awake that rivaled anything Affleck offered in the 2000 cult classic. »

Awake First Look Video: Britten's 'Hunches' Land Him In the FBI's Crosshairs

NBC’s Awake this week addresses the elephant in the room: For how long can Britten successfully work cases based on clues he gleans from his “other” reality before someone takes notice? And we’ve got a first look video at how the Lapd detective’s latest “hunch” lands him on the FBI’s radar.

In this Thursday’s episode (airing at 10/9c), Britten and his “green world” partner, Detective “Bird” Freeman, help a visiting FBI agent (CSI: NY’s Megan Dodds) look into the work of either a believed-dead serial killer or a crafty copycat. But when a clue »

'Awake': Are viewers 'Guilty' of impatience with Michael Britten?

15 March 2012 9:00 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

"One thing I've learned is patience." -- John Cooper

"Awake" viewers could learn a thing or two from John Cooper, the convict who kidnapped Michael Britten's (Jason Isaacs) son, Rex (Dylan Minnette), in one world on Thursday's (March 15) episode and gave Britten the information to locate him in the other one. Watching -- or rather, enjoying -- the NBC show is all about patience and, as the first three episodes have proven, not just about trying to figure out which reality is the real one and which is a dream.

That said, each of the 13 episodes in the season, which as Isaacs says, are basically like 13 separate movies, do act as building blocks on one another, allowing viewers to collect clues.

So what clues did episode 3, "Guilty," give fans about the state of affairs in Britten's dual realities?

- Isaacs has previously said that the writers have license to do »

‘Awake’ Season 1, Episode 2: ‘The Little Guy’ Recap

9 March 2012 6:40 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Now that the series premiere has spelled out the rules and core concept, Awake takes a step back from the perplexing conundrum of Det. Britten (Jason Isaacs) splitting his time between two separate realities, and settles into the less taxing role of telling a procedural story – while using the series’ unique properties to do so.

In ‘The Little Guy,’ Britten and his partner Det. Freeman (Steve Harris) are investigating the murder of a Dr. Mackenzie, who apparently died of a heart attack. After some thorough blood work and analysis by the medical examiner, it turns out Mackenzie was a diabetic and his heart attack was brought on by an injection of potassium chloride.

Jumping to the other reality, Britten and Det. Vega (Wilmer Valderama) are knee-deep in the death of a junkie, ...

Awake Sneak Peeks: Laura Innes Guest Stars; Britten Continues to Deal With Both Realities

NBC's new - and very intriguing - show Awake premiered last week.  Jason Isaacs is wonderful as Detective Michael Britten, a man who is torn between two competing and parallel realities after a car accident took the life of his wife or son, depending on which reality he is in.

In tonight's all new episode of Awake, Laura Innes ("ER") guest stars as Britten's captain.  One of this episode's cases deals with the murder of a homeless man.  A witness to the murder tells Britten and his rookie partner Vega (Wilmer Valderamma) that a "small guy" was spotted at the scene of the crime.  As happened last week, that particular clue crosses over to the case Britten is working on with Bird (Steve Harris), who is wondering why his partner is concerned with the height of suspects. »
