Exclusive: Stevie Nicks on singing with Carrie Underwood at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

30 May 2014 10:45 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

The 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony, airing on HBO  Saturday (31) night, features some of the Rock Hall’s stronger performances in recent years. Among the highlights are the remaining members of inductee Nirvana performing with Joan Jett, St. Vincent, and Lorde, as well as Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, and Carrie Underwood beautifully saluting inductee Linda Ronstadt in song. In this exclusive clip, Nicks talks about how the ladies’ performance of “When Will I Be Loved” came about — it was a lot looser than you’d think— and has some very high praise for Underwood. Let’s just say she’s glad Underwood wasn’t around during Fleetwood Mac’s formative years. In addition to Nirvana and Ronstadt, this year’s class included Daryl Hall & John Oates, Peter Gabriel, The E Street Band, Cat Stevens and Kiss as performer inductees, and Brian Epstein and »

"He's been called Saint Willie," McConaughey continued. "There's a statue of him in the middle of downtown Austin on a street called Willie Nelson Boulevard. 12 April 2014 12:57 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Toronto (AP) — Jesse Winchester, a U.S.-born singer who established himself in Montreal after dodging the Vietnam War and went on to write songs covered by the likes of Elvis Costello, Jimmy Buffett and Joan Baez has died of cancer. He was 69. His death was announced on his official Facebook page Friday. "Friends, our sweet Jesse died peacefully in his sleep this morning," the update reads. "Bless his loving heart." Winchester was born in Louisiana and raised around the U.S. South, but he didn't begin his music career in earnest until moving to Quebec in 1967. There, he began performing solo in coffee houses around Montreal and the Canadian East Coast. Winchester was a protege of the Band's Robbie Robertson, who produced and played guitar on Winchester's self-titled debut album and brought Band-mate Levon Helm along to play drums and mandolin. Nirvana joins Rock Hall with Lorde, Joan Jett, Kim Gordon singing: Video

11 April 2014 1:17 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

New York (AP) — Kiss made up, but its music went unheard. Nirvana used four women rockers to sing Kurt Cobain's songs. And Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band — predictably — turned its honor into a marathon. The three acts were ushered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Thursday in a colorful induction ceremony at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. They were joined by the blue-eyed soul duo Hall & Oates, British rocker Peter Gabriel, 1970s folkie Cat Stevens and the absent Linda Ronstadt. Nirvana was the emotional centerpiece. The trio rooted in the Seattle-area punk rock scene was voted into the hall in its first year of eligibility. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" hit like a thunderclap upon its 1991 release, but the band was done after Kurt Cobain committed suicide 20 years ago this month. "Nirvana fans walk up to me every day and say thank you for the music," said Krist Novoselic, »

Linda Ronstadt Won't Attend Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Event Due To Parkinson's

2 April 2014 9:00 PM, PDT | Uinterview | See recent Uinterview news »

Linda Ronstadt has confirmed that she will not be in attendance at the 2014 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony next week due to her battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Linda Ronstadt Missing Hall Of Fame Induction

Ronstadt is joined in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2014 by Hall & Oates, Kiss, Nirvana and Peter Gabriel. Though it’s a large honor in the music world, Ronstadt isn’t particularly impressed by it.

"I haven't given it one thought, I have to say. It wasn't anything I ever thought about. I never thought of myself as a rock 'n' roll singer; I sang it, [but] it's just one of the things I sang,” Ronstadt told Billboard.com. “I sang a lot of different stuff. I didn't go the last two times I was nominated for a Grammy, either. I don't have anything against it; you just don't do things for those reasons. »

Review: Jason Mraz, Heart soar at Country Music Hall of Fame benefit

5 March 2014 3:08 PM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Los Angeles—Jason Mraz and Heart may not be the first names that you think of when you think of country music (or the last), but the two acts fit in perfectly at Tuesday night’s (5) All for the Hall benefit for Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame. They joined Vince Gill and Emmylou Harris in an old-fashioned guitar pull at Club Nokia. For the uninitiated, guitar pulls feature artists in a circle or line as they perform round-robin style accompanied only with a guitar. It marked the first time the event had been held in Los Angeles in three years and to tie in with Hollywood, the event was hosted by Rita Wilson, who declared herself a country music convert especially since she has been spending time in Nashville writing with some top-tier songwriters. Southern Californian Mraz proved to be the crowd favorite, especially after he performed hits, “I »
