It has been seven years since viewers last saw Lisa Gay Hamilton on ABC's long-running legal drama "The Practice" as attorney Rebecca Washington. Since then, the veteran actor has kept busy, booking films like "The Soloist," "Mother and Child" and the upcoming "Beastly." One of her crowning achievements is her portrayal of young Sethe in Jonathan Demme's 1998 big-screen adaptation of "Beloved," opposite Oprah Winfrey and Danny Glover. Hamilton can now be seen as Andre Braugher's wife, Melissa, on TNT's "Men of a Certain Age," which recently premiered its second season. She stars alongside Ray Romano and Scott Bakula as people dealing with the hardships and realities of middle age.Hamilton spoke candidly with Back Stage about the lessons she has learned from her time on "The Practice," the project she is most proud of, and acting with Braugher, who was a classmate at Juilliard.Back Stage: You've done a lot of theater, »

Chicago – It has yet to approach the writing standards of the best television on the air right now but the stars of “Men of a Certain Age” continue to make it one of the more interesting programs on cable. As Andre Braugher, Scott Bakula, and Ray Romano continue to get more comfortable in the shoes of these three leads, the program around them continues to improve. This is quality, well-written drama without a sci-fi hook or period piece detail. It’s worth your time.
Television Rating: 4.0/5.0
Not only do the stars of “Men of a Certain Age” get better with every episode, but the writing and direction (the biggest problems in season one) seem to be improving as well with the start of season two. I’ll still never understand why so much of the show needs to be shot with a handheld camera and usually from a distance and »

Actress Lisa Gay Hamilton is a woman of a certain age, and proud of it. In a television landscape oversaturated with shows about twentysomethings, TNT"s "Men of a Certain Age" stands alone. Created by "Everybody Loves Raymond" actor Ray Romano, the dramedy features Hamilton and actor Andre Braugher as a couple trying to make sense of life in their late 40s. Hamilton spoke with Essence.com about reuniting with her college friend Andre Braugher and playing an "ordinary Black couple" on the show »

Beastly is a film from Daniel Barnz (Phoebe in Wonderland), which features a modern retelling of the 18th Century fairy tale Beauty and the Beast. This film is slated for a March 18th, 2011 release through CBS Films and the movie's poster promises "it's what's underneath." From one social psychology class, this premise can be quickly disproved. What matters is physical attraction, despite what fairy tales tell us. However, some viewers might enjoy a brief escape from reality, so the first trailer for this film, starring Neil Patrick Harris, Vanessa Hudgens, and Mary-Kate Olsen, is below.
The film's plotline:
"Kyle Kingson (Alex Pettyfer) has it all – looks, intelligence, wealth and opportunity – and a wicked cruel streak. Prone to mocking and humiliating 'aggressively unattractive' classmates, he zeroes in on Goth classmate Kendra, inviting her to the school’s extravagant environmental bash. Kendra accepts, and, true to form, Kyle blows her off in a particularly savage fashion. »

CBS Films desperately needs a hit. After Extraordinary Measures, The Back-up Plan, and last week’s Faster all under-performed, it isn’t looking strong for the new studio. Jason Statham‘s actioner The Mechanic next month may be a sign of hope and they have now unveiled the trailer for their spring release, Beastly. Directed by Daniel Barnz (Phoebe in Wonderland) it tells a modern version of the classic Beauty and the Beast story, in what looks like a very specific tween target demographic. Beastly stars Vanessa Hudgens, Alex Pettyfer, Mary-Kate Olsen, Neil Patrick Harris, Peter Krause, and Lisa Gay Hamilton. Check out the trailer below via Moviefone.

Just a few weeks removed from its announcement of shifting the release of Beastly so as not to clash with Universal's upcoming Charlie St. Cloud, which stars Zac Efron, CBS Films has finally announced Beastly's new release date, and wow, is it pretty damned far off.
