Anthony Kiedis Rocks Whole Child International Gala

The Earl and Countess Spencer hosted Whole Child International’s inaugural fundraising gala in Los Angeles at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel last week, along with Co-Chairs Giselle Fernandez, Teri & Ken Hertz, Nina & Harvey Karp, Lauren King, Deborah Klein, Fran & John Lasker, and Robin & Dr. Alfredo Trento.

Sir Ken Robinson served as Master of Ceremonies for the event, which also included an acoustic performance by Anthony Kiedis and Josh Klinghoffer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and a very special live auction. Additional attendees included Shohreh Aghdashloo, Catherine Bach, Angie Harmon, British Consul General Michael Howells, Chandler Kinney, Frank Mancuso, Nancy Moonves, Renee Olstead, Terri Seymour, and Canadian Consul General James Villeneuve.

Sir Ken Robinson welcomed guests to the event with a few words about the importance of childcare and education, not just in our own homes, but globally.

Anthony Kiedis To Perform At Whole Child International Fundraising Gala

The Earl and Countess Spencer, along with Co-Chairs Wallis Annenberg, James Baker, Giselle Fernandez, Teri & Ken Hertz, Nina & Harvey Karp, Lauren & Richard King, Deborah Klein & Mort Marcus, Fran & John Lasker, Yana & Leon Max, and Robin & Dr. Alfredo Trento, announced today that Whole Child International will hold its inaugural fundraising gala in Los Angeles on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

Thrifty, Zombie, Man's, Cowboy, Play Adapted

New Line and producer Beau Flynn ("San Andreas") are developing a film adaptation of Jonathan Stokes' upcoming book series "The Thrifty Time Traveler's Guide".

The story follows a future time-travel agency which puts together affordable vacation packages to history's biggest events. The first books will span Ancient Egypt, the Roman Empire, the Middle Ages and WWII.

Meanwhile, Michael J. Roth and Steve Longi have acquired feature film and TV rights to the Off Broadway musical-comedy "Zombie Prom". Vince Marcello and Mark Landry will pen and Marcello will helm the feature film adaptation.

The musical-comedy homage to the musicals and films of the 1950s tells the story of a forbidden romance between the rebellious bad boy Jonny and the good girl Toffee. After falling into a nuclear reactor, Jonny returns to his love as a zombie.

Roberto Clemente Biopic in the Works at Legendary

Legendary Pictures is developing a movie based on the life of the late Roberto Clemente, the first Latino inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Legendary has acquired life rights from Clemente’s family and movie rights to David Maraniss’ biography “Clemente: The Passion and Grace of Baseball’s Last Hero.”

Legendary made the deal two years after releasing Jackie Robinson biopic “42,” which turned in a solid performance at the box office with nearly $100 million in domestic grosses.

Ben Silverman and Jay Weisleder are producing through their Fuego Films banner along with Legendary. Giselle Fernandez and Sandra Condito are the executive producers.

The Puerto Rican was universally respected as a passionate player and humanitarian. He played 18 seasons for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1955 through 1972, was an All-Star for 12 seasons and got his 3,000th hit in his final at bat. Pereira tapped KTLA co-anchor
After a lengthy search and a series of on-air tryouts, KTLA-TV Los Angeles has named Michaela Pereira as the new co-anchor of KTLA Morning News. Pereira, who will work alongside Carlos Amezcua, weatherman Mark Kriski and entertainment reporter Sam Rubin, comes to KTLA after working at cable network TechTV since 2001 as an anchor on several programs that earned her two Northern California Emmy Awards. Pereira replaces Giselle Fernandez, who left Morning News in August (HR 8/3).
