The CW In The Works To Bring "Melrose Place" Back

15 December 2008 12:48 PM, PST | | See recent iCelebz news »

The CW has already revived "90210" and now they have their sights set on bringing back "Melrose Place." The primetime soap ran from 1992 to 1999.

"Melrose Place" was a spin-off of the original "Beverly Hills, 90210" and was created by Darren Star and produced by Aaron Spelling. "I would love it if they brought back 'Melrose Place,'" a fan of the old show told Celebrity News Service. "It was one of my favorite shows in the '90s."

According to a source on the network, a pilot will be shot during the regular pilot season. But what about the beautiful cast? Many of them are currently committed to other shows, including Rob Estes who is starring on "90210."

The show will supposedly be written by Mark Schwahn, the creator of The CW's "One Tree Hill."

Melrose Place Remake in the Works

29 October 2008 9:00 AM, PDT | | See recent x17online news »

Los Angeles, California (X17online) - With the new Beverly Hills 90210 a hit, execs at the CW are thinking about bringing back that other '90s drama Melrose Place. Talk in Hollywood says a return to the famous apartment building is in the early development stages, and that the new series could be on the air as early as next season. Melrose Place was originally spun off from 90210 in 1992 with Jennie Garth's character bridging the two shows. Likewise, she was used in the re-launch of the new 90210. The original stars of the series included Andrew Shue, Heather Locklear, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Grant Show, Daphne Zuniga, Marcia Cross and Doug Savant. Rob Estes joined Melrose Place later in the show's run - and now stars as the father on the new 90210. »

It's back nine for "90210."

In the first full-season order for a freshman series this season, the CW has picked up nine additional episodes of the teen drama, bringing the total order to 22.

The much buzzed about "90210," from CBS Par TV, was the first new fall show to premiere. After a blazing start with a two-hour debut Sept. 2 that was seen by 4.9 million viewers and posted the highest-rated series premiere in the CW's two-year history in women 18-34, adults 18-34 and adults 18-49, the "Beverly Hills, 90210" spinoff dropped precipitously in its second airing but recovered nicely last week to average 3.3 million viewers.

In a major addition to "90210's" producing team, former "Gilmore Girls" co-exec producer Rebecca Kirschner has come on board as an executive producer alongside Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah.

The reviews are in from last nights premier of the new 90210 and you'll never guess what they are saying. The CW made a risky calculated decision by not allowing any media to see the show before it aired last night. So this morning everyone is taking a swing at critiquing the new 90210... 90210 Reviews “More than just a famous zip code, 90210 is easily the most hyped show of the fall season and the CW is banking on all of the buzz to draw in big ratings. This spinoff, eight years after the first series ended, is a pallid copy of the original fish out of water story only with shinier cars, fancier clothes and Botox aplenty.” — Variety "90210 is the Sarah Palin of TV shows — it's new, it's pretty, few people have seen it in advance (no review copies of 90210 were made available to TV critics), and its main purpose is to »

Garth: 'New 90210 Is Too Racy For My Kids'

25 August 2008 6:56 AM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actress Jennie Garth won't be letting her young children watch her new Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off - because the new show is far racier than the original.

When Garth first played rich kid Kelly Taylor on 90210, the show was family viewing, but she fears the new-look series is far too raunchy for pre-teens.

She says, "My kids are by no means ready to watch this 90210."

And co-star Lori Laughlin admits she's often left red faced by her racy scenes with onscreen husband Rob Estes.

She explains, "I blush all day long..

Meanwhile, Estes adds, "(We're not) a mom and dad who are home eating bon bons. It's a couple who's f**king!

"We'll clear the kitchen so fast (to have sex), you don't know what to do with yourself." »
