The Billboard 200 albums chart has a new champion, but despite six debuts in the top 10, the real chart story was Michael Jackson once again. In the first full week of reporting since the pop icon's death, his catalog once again easily outsold the top 20 current albums.
The Now That's What I Call Music! Vol. 31 compilation — with songs by Lady Gaga, the Black Eyed Peas, Pitbull, the Fray and Beyoncé — debuts at #1 on sales of 169,000. That's about half the sales of Jackson's Number Ones, which is not eligible for the Top Current Albums chart because it has been out for more than 18 months and does not have a current single on the radio. Just behind is country star Brad Paisley's American Saturday Night (130,000), followed by

Rapper Eminem is making a return to Hollywood - he's landed a role in new comedy Funny People.
The star, real name Marshall Mathers III, won critical acclaim for his role in autobiographical movie 8 Mile in 2002, but he put his budding acting career on hold to focus on his music.
But he's now ready to pick up where he left off - scoring a small part in Judd Apatow's latest project, appearing on the big screen alongside Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Eric Bana and Jonah Hill.

Anyone who listens to Eminem.s music knows that he can be funny. His wordplay and imagery are far more cartoonish than they are gangster, but his public persona tends to display the opposite. From watching interviews and videos, it.s easy to imagine that Eminem is a stone cold brute with nothing humorous to say. Now Marshall Mathers has a cameo in Judd Apatow.s Funny People, and if it does the same for him as it did for Ryan Seacrest in Knocked Up, it will show a completely different side of the man. MTV has the first look at the rapper in the movie, and the picture doesn.t really give much away. All we learn is that Em likes what looks to be like dinner and talking with Adam Sandler. Everything else he brings to the movie is a mystery. You can check out the full size

Eminem revealed last month that he filmed a cameo in Judd Apatow's Funny People. Now MTV has confirmed the appearance, publishing the first photo of Marshall Mathers in the movie, chatting with Adam Sandler at a Hollywood restaurant. What role Eminem plays in the film has yet to be revealed, but having read the script leads me to believe that he might be one of comedian/actor George Simmon's many famous friends, of whom George must eventually reveal that he has been diagnosed with a terminal disease. It might also be possible that the Detroit rapper fills in for a scene originally written for Bruce Springsteen, where the famous music artist provides some wisdom. When asked about working with Mathers, Apatow told MTV "I was scared to pitch jokes to him then I realized his songs are as nasty as anything that has ever been spoken. There is no way to offend him.

You may know that director Judd Apatow has wrangled a laundry list of stars for his forthcoming “Funny People,” that includes — along with leads Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann and Eric Bana — Jonah Hill, Jason Schwartzman, Norm MacDonald, Sarah Silverman, Aziz Ansari, RZA, Dave Attell and others. But did you know a certain Detroit rapper will also be joining the crew?
That’s right: Marshall Mathers himself will be making an appearance in the film. You’ll have to wait until July 31 to see exactly why, but we’ve got the very first look at Eminem’s tableside chat with Sandler’s character, a dying stand-up comedian named George Simmons. Take a gander below, and don’t forget to read the first of Judd Apatow’s exclusive blogs for MTV, wherein he answers a bevy of questions you haven’t even asked.

As arguably the biggest comedy director working in Hollywood today, Judd Apatow is a funny guy and almost as importantly, he’s been a longtime friend to the MTV Movies Blog, acting as one of our first guest contributors way back when “Knocked Up” was coming out. Well, the big guy is back. Apatow’s next project, of course, is “Funny People.” And lucky for us Judd’s re-joining the MTV Movies Blog gang with a series of exclusive columns hitting every single Thursday between now and the film’s release. So without further ado, here’s Judd…

Superstar Mariah Carey is set to release her latest studio album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel, Aug. 25 and the hype behind the record is starting to build with the release to radio this week of the first single “Obsessed.” Carey reportedly takes a swipe at rapper Eminem on the single in a little payback for his Relapse track “Bagpipes From Baghdad.” The rapper taunted Mariah, who fired back with the lyric “Why are you so obsessed with me?” Although Slim Shady, aka Marshall Mathers, is never mentioned by name.

There’s no official word on whether or not Mariah Carey’s new single “Obsessed” is about Eminem, but there is plenty of evidence that suggests it. While it’s a catchy song and may end up being the summer jam of ‘09, it falls pretty flat as an Eminem dis.
Plenty of artists have attacked Em over the course of his 10-year career, and all of managed to fall flat on their faces. It’s not surprising, as Marshall Mathers is one of the most formidable battle rappers ever to storm on the scene (his schooling of Papa Doc at the end of “8 Mile” is pretty accurate). It also doesn’t help that most of the MCs who have gone after Em haven’t exactly been heavyweights. Does Mariah sit at the top of the heap? Here are the other contenders.

Eminem doesn't update his Twitter very often, but in the past two days he has dropped a pair of exclusive photos from the set of the video shoot for "Beautiful," from his recent Relapse LP.
According to the Tweets, the clip was shot last week in Detroit. Though it's difficult to determine what the plot of the video might be, the second photo shows Em posing in front of an old train station (it appears to be Michigan Central Station, a long-abandoned Gothic behemoth).
"The old train station ... that place is unreal," Eminem wrote. The first photo showed Eminem standing in front of a window — likely from inside the station — looking out onto Detroit in stark black and white.
It's been an active week for Marshall Mathers,

In an interview on Bet's Rap City Special, Eminem confirms that D12 will hit recording booth for a new album. "Me and the guys, we got a bond, it's special. It's like, as far as the future of D12, we're gonna be back in the studio soon," so he says.
"Right now, my music would probably be the same if Proof was still alive," Eminem explains more. "I think this is what Proof always wanted, was for me to go crazy again. My life would be different because I would still have him."
Earlier this year, the band's member Bizarre also hinted on the group's reunion. "Everybody's in D12 and we're doing good. [A new album] is definitely going to happen. We're working on it right now, Marshall Mathers is coming out first with 'Relapse'...I'm on Eminem's album...I'm recording a couple of songs. Big up to Dr. Dre," he stated.

Paris Hilton has confirmed she was the first target for Sacha Baron Cohen's bare bum at the MTV Movie Awards last month, but she refused to be a part of a ceremony skit when she 'got wind' of what was planned.
Rapper Eminem became the target of Cohen's comedy as the Brit fell from the roof of the Gibson Amphitheater, dressed as his gay character Bruno, onto the Stan star's lap.
Eminem was forced to peer out over Cohen's butt and then, after burly minders had pulled the funnyman off their charge, the rapper pretended to storm out of the MTV Movie Awards, disgusted.
Days later Eminem confirmed the whole thing had been a joke - and now Hilton admits she was the first celebrity approached to take part in the prank.
She tells U.S. news show Extra, "(Awards show producer) Mark Burnett asked if I wanted to be involved in something that was going to be crazy and, like, a fight might break out. I was like, 'I don’t want anything hitting me in the face or anything like that, so I don’t know if I want to do that.'
"I’m glad I didn’t do that. I love him (Cohen) and think he’s hilarious, but I don’t know what my parents would think with that (Cohen’s bare bum) in my face in the middle of an awards show."

Not only was the Bruno/Eminem stunt at the MTV Movie Awards not terribly funny, it also was obviously staged. There's no way a company as big as Viacom would let somebody careen down on an unsuspecting superstar with a high-priced legal team at the ready. Too many possible insurance hassles.
And now, to set the record straight, Marshall Mathers confirms it was a gag. "Sacha [Baron Cohen] called me when we were in Europe and he had an idea to do something outrageous at the Movie Awards," he told Rap Radar. "I'm a big fan of his work so I agreed to get involved."

Hard as it may be for some to believe that Eminem was in on his incident with Brüno at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night, the Mc's comments on the stunt have certainly gotten fans talking.
After Eminem said he was "thrilled that we pulled this off better than we rehearsed it," the response was sharply divided over whether the bit was a hilarious display of good humor by Slim Shady or a bad look for a rapper.
Many of the comments applauded Eminem and Brüno for pulling off the stunt so well. MTViewer89 labeled it "one of the best pranks of all time had so many people fooled including me. People were getting so emotional about it. Hell yeah, Shady, best prank ever."

Eminem's $60,000 diamond necklace has been stolen. The hip-hop star is reportedly missing items worth thousands of dollars - including his personal laptop - after his Los Angeles hotel suite was ransacked at the weekend. The alleged burglary is thought to have taken place while the 'We Made You' rapper was attending the MTV Movie Awards at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, on Sunday night (31.05.09). Eminem - real name Marshall Mathers - stormed out of the awards ceremony when Sacha Baron Cohen, dressed as his alter-ego Bruno, descended from the ceiling and thrust his bare butt in his face. Eminem has confirmed his MTV Movie Awards encounter with funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen was all part of an elaborate stunt.
The rapper stormed out of the ceremony on Sunday night after a butt-naked Cohen - portraying his hilarious Austrian fashion expert character Bruno - literally landed in his lap.
At one point, an apparently furious Eminem raged, "Are you f**king serious" while peering over the Brit's bare backside, prompting many to think the stunt was a prank on the rapper.
But, speaking out for the first time since the incident, the star tells RapRadar.com, "Sacha called me when we were in Europe and he had an idea to do something outrageous at the Movie Awards. I'm a big fan of his work so I agreed to get involved with the gag.
"I'm thrilled that we pulled this off better than we rehearsed it. It had so many people going nuts so to speak. Everyone was blowing me up about it."

Sacha Baron Cohen and Eminem scripted and rehearsed the outrageous stunt at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards that left the rapper's face buried in the funnyman's crotch.
Audience members and TV viewers were left stunned when Baron Cohen, in character as gay fashionista Bruno and dressed as a giant dove, fell from the roof of the Universal Ampitheater onto Eminem's lap.
The Slim Shady star was heard angrily protesting before storming out of the show, accompanied by his entourage.
The incident provoked furious debate about whether the incident was staged or planned behind Eminem's back.
On Monday, Paris Hilton insisted Eminem knew nothing about it and his response was real - but now MTV's head writer has come forward to confess the star was in on it all along.
Scott Aukerman writes on his blog, "Yes, the Eminem-Bruno incident was staged. They rehearsed it at dress (rehearsal) and yes, it went as far as it did on the live show."

Reflecting the power of teen heartthrob Robert Pattinson to draw an audience, the MTV Movie Awards, which showered Pattinson and his movie Twilight with trophies on Sunday, drew 5.3 million viewers -- 78 percent greater than last year's telecast. The awards show, which also featured a preview of the Twilight sequel New Moon, produced the awards ceremony's best ratings since 2004, according to Nielsen Media Research. Stealing the show from Pattinson, however, was comedian Sasha Baron Cohen, who, as his alter-ego Bruno, flew into the auditorium on a wire and landed on rap singer Eminem. (One of the writers of the awards show, Scott Aukerman, disclosed on his blog Monday that the incident was staged and was included in the dress rehearsal.)

Personally, I was Tivo'ing my way through most of the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. I just couldn't get into it (In comparison, this year's Oscars were so, so much better). Although mostly the same awards show we expect from MTV (lots of SNL humor and teen screaming), LeAnn Rimes singing a rendition of host Andy Samberg's "Jizz In My Pants" and Forest Whitaker's "Dick In A Box" were cringingly funny highlights. But clearly the Wtf moment of the night was Sacha Baron Cohen teabagging Slim Shady on national television. My colleague and Urb editor Josh Glazer has some thoughts on Em's reaction: By now, everyone's seen this clip of Sacha Baron Cohen as Bruno putting his now famous man muffin on Eminem's chin and the rapper's subsequent storming out on the MTV Movie Awards. And while Cohen and MTV were obviously in...
