Crossover episodes are a tricky business in general, what with combining various comedic stylings and separate ongoing storylines into one cohesive program. The very thought of two writers’ rooms joining up for one episode in a season filled with 20-plus is either a daunting task or an exciting creative opportunity. So Fox’s decision to shift the weight of the crossover story to one show — “New Girl,” as it turns out — may have been a safe choice, but the end result unevenly favored the show less tampered with.

Fans of the Zooey Deschanel-starring Fox comedy may have been a bit frustrated watching nearly 20 minutes of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” before their favorite fictional L.A. teacher showed up in New York. Fox has released a couple of promos and a massive batch of images for next week’s two-episode crossover of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and New Girl; check them out below along with synopses for both episodes…

“As Jake struggles with his first case back at the precinct, he encounters Jess Day (New Girl guest star Zooey Deschanel), who is visiting New York, and enlists her to help him find his suspect. Meanwhile, Holt researches ways to increase office morale and Amy tries to figure out why Rosa keeps taking such long breaks in the all-new, special “The Night Shift” crossover episode of Brooklyn Nine-nine airing Tuesday, Oct. 11 on Fox.”

Next Tuesday’s two-part Fox comedy crossover event, an exclusive sneak peek of which can be found above, finds Jess & Co. venturing to New York to watch Schmidt get honored by his high school. As exec producer and co-showrunner Brett Baer previews, some unplanned “fun ensues” when Jess is tasked with “retrieving soup from Schmidt’s favorite deli, which happens to be right where the [99th Precinct] is. So Jess is on her way to get this soup and she has a run-in with various members of the Brooklyn gang. »

Gina Rodriguez will receive the CinemaCon Female Star Of Tomorrow Award at the Las Vegas convention on April 14.

Rodriguez earned a Golden Globe in 2015 for TV hit Jane The Virgin and will star later this year in Deepwater Horizon. CinemaCon runs from April 11-14.

Emerging Pictures will release A Light Beneath Their Feet in select theatrical markets across North America on May 6. Taryn Manning Coming-of-Age Drama ‘Light Beneath Their Feet’ Gets Release Date

Emerging Pictures will release coming-of-age drama “A Light Beneath Their Feet,” starring Taryn Manning of “Orange Is the New Black,” in up to 15 theatrical markets in North America on May 6.

Madison Davenport, Kurt Fuller, Nora Dunn, Kali Hawk, Maddie Hasson and Carter Jenkins also star. “A Light Beneath Their Feet” marks Valerie Weiss’ second feature, directing from an original screenplay by Moira McMahon.

Manning plays a mother wrestling with bipolar disorder and an imminent empty nest. Her dedicated daughter has a bright future ahead, but must decide if she will stay near home to care for her unpredictable mom or follow her own path.

Several mental health organizations, such as Glenn Close’s Bring Change 2 Mind, will be supporting and promoting the film through screenings and outreach to the mental health community.
