18 August 2015 11:53 PM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

The Hedwig and the Angry Inch revival that has graced Broadway for the last year and a half is closing next month, Variety reports. The last performance will be September 13, 3 p.m., at the Belasco Theater. "When we announced our limited 16-week Broadway engagement of Hedwig, never in my wildest dreams did I think it would run for a year and a half," producer David Binder said in a statement. "Hedwig heralded a historic year of acceptance and celebration across America." The popular musical, which centers on the story of a transsexual rock star who underwent a botched sex reassignment surgery and vies for closure, won four Tonys in 2014, including Best Revival of a Musical. The production also served as a platform for talented leading men, as Hedwig was played by the likes of Neil Patrick Harris, Andrew Rannells, Michael C. Hall, Darren Criss, and Taye Diggs. Revisiting Taye Diggs' Overlooked 2006 Canceled ABC Series 'Day Break'

23 July 2015 8:27 AM, PDT | ShadowAndAct | See recent ShadowAndAct news »

Taye Diggs began performances last night in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," the 2014 Tony Award winning Best Musical Revival. Diggs plays the title role for a limited 12-week engagement at Broadway’s Belasco Theatre. Google searches for Diggs that have led searchers to this blog have seen a spike in recent days (likely because of his return to Broadway), with some searching specifically for his past work in film and TV, including "Day Break," the 2006 action-drama series in which Diggs starred in. I actually didn't watch the TV series when it originally aired 9 years ago (I really don't recall why; I just didn't). Eventually I would watch it, 6 years later, after I »

Misty Copeland Will Make Her Broadway Debut in On the Town

6 July 2015 9:40 AM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Misty Copeland's big year is about to get bigger: Time 100 cover girl and the American Ballet Theater's first black principal will make her Broadway debut in On the Town in a special two-week run from August 25 to September 6. She'll be taking over from New York City Ballet principal Megan Fairchild as the main love interest, Ivy Smith. The hope is that Copeland's run will give ticket sales a boost, which, despite good reviews, have been underperforming, most recently playing to about 70 percent capacity. The New York Times reports Copeland talked with Taye Diggs, who's set to strap on his heels for Hedwig and the Angry Inch, about acting. He simply told her, "I think you've got this." No question. »

TV Review: ‘Murder in the First,’ Season 2

5 June 2015 8:30 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

How time flies. “Murder One,” which followed a single trial over an entire season, felt enormously ambitious when Steven Bochco introduced the series 20 years ago. Now the show plucked from its rib, “Murder in the First,” returns to TNT for a second season as a solidly crafted if mostly undemanding piece of summer entertainment, shifting to a new high-profile case with a ripped-from-the-headlines quality. Fast-paced and tense, the serialized construct isn’t a bad viewing option, even if it’s unlikely to rank first on many must-watch lists.

Taye Diggs and Kathleen Robertson are back as intrepid Bay Area detectives English and Mulligan, who almost immediately stumble upon a stop-the-presses case: Two teenagers shoot up a school bus, with one taking flight and triggering a massive manhunt, as questions of what motivated the pair slowly come into focus.

Morbid echoes of Columbine notwithstanding, there are new twists to the search, »
