'Live! From My Living Room!': Running Down the Do-It-Yourself Talk Shows

17 July 2009 1:30 PM, PDT | From Movieline | See recent Movieline news

The old saying is that anyone can get a talk show (e.g. Bonnie Hunt, Magic Johnson) but with the advent of internet broadcasting, a celebrity no longer needs the faith of a network or daytime syndication to host a chat show. Even with Twitter displacing most types of long-form personal expression, there's still a market for simplistic celebrity-on-celebrity internet interviews. Sure, Paul McCartney isn't going to play a concert from the roof of Andy Dick's duplex but there are worse ways to pass the hours at your data entry job.

Showtime Orders Live Nude Comedy

13 July 2009 7:11 PM, PDT | From MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news

Showtime has ordered up six episodes of Live Nude Comedy, a half-hour mish mash of standup comedy and modern-day burlesque.

According to Variety, Shannon Elizabeth will host the weekly midnight series, which premieres Thursday. The program positions itself as an old-school variety show with a 21st-century sensibility.

Typical format of Live Nude Comedy will open with an audience-participation sketch featuring Elizabeth, followed by each week's two comedians alternating with two dancers.

"Trying to present different ways of showcasing comedians -- that's really the focus of the show," Binkow said. "We just felt that mixing it with dancing and variety and keeping it moving at a fast pace is a better way to consume comedy than just your old-fashioned show against a brick wall."

Comedians Sam Tripoli and Ian Edwards will appear in the first episode, with upcoming comics to include Andy Dick and Whitney Cummings. Dakota Ferreiro and Tonya Kay will dance in the premiere.

Dick Plays Bloody Ronald McDonald In PETA Protest

21 June 2009 6:40 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Comic Andy Dick led a PETA protest in Chicago, Illinois on Thursday, dressed as a blood-spattered Ronald McDonald.

The newly-sober funnyman turned activist to slam McDonald's bosses for the way they treat chickens, which they slaughter and cook up for fast food fans.

He carried a cleaver, which he waved at motorists driving by McDonald's downtown Chicago location.

Dick shouted, "Why did the chicken cross the road?" to which fellow protesters chanted, "I'm hating it" - a reference to McDonald's slogan 'I'm loving it'.

He was joined by PETA vice president Dan Matthews.

Just for Laughs Chicago: Wrangling the Free-Wheelin’ Andy Dick

20 June 2009 2:43 PM, PDT | From HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news

Chicago – Andrew R. “Andy” Dick is one of the most brilliantly infamous and misunderstood comic forces in the last twenty years. Appearing at Superstation TBS “Just for Laughs” Festival in Chicago, he combined farce, music and pure Andy in his show.

Andy Dick is very, very calm in Chicago on June 19, 2009

Photo credit: Joe Arce of Starstruck Foto for HollywoodChicago.com During a rollicking interview with HollywoodChicago.com, Dick went over his career and philosophy, between bouts of singing Edie Brickell songs (”Where is she now?” he wondered, before speculating about her work on a part of Paul Simon’s anatomy).

HollywoodChicago.com: Your bio indicates that you moved around a lot as a kid. What area of the country most influenced your ever-evolving style of performance?

Andy Dick: Besides the first one, from Connecticut to Pennsylvania, which hurt and was emotionally jarring, the one that cracked my head

Make-up Artist Defended Johansson From Dick's Advances

3 June 2009 5:15 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

A celebrity make-up artist was once forced to defend a young Scarlett Johansson from the unwelcome advances of comedian Andy Dick - because the star was just 16 when he approached her in a club.

Julianne Kaye became close friends with Johansson while working on 1999 movie My Brother The Pig, when the actress was a teenager.

Kaye admits she bonded with the young star on the set and took her for nights out in Hollywood.

But the make-up artist recalls one venture to a nightclub turned sour when Johansson was approached by Dick, who was unaware the beautiful starlet was so young.

Kaye says, "I met Scarlett on My Brother The Pig, a movie she made when she was 16. She stayed at my house for a week.

"One night, I put a bindi on her head and we went to a club, and Andy Dick cornered her.

"I was like, 'Get away from her! She's a child!'"

Green Dragon director Tim Linh Bui's new film Powder Blue, starring Jessica Biel, Forest Whitaker, Ray Liotta and Patrick Swayze, has received an original score by Didier Lean Rachou. He was called in very late in the process to replace most of the existing score with an edgy, modern approach. Rachou's previous credits include Aquaman: Mercy Reef, How To Rob a Bank and several episodes of Sex and the City. Recently, he also scored a Lionsgate film called High Hopes, starring Jason Mewes, Lacey Chabert, Andy Dick and David Faustino. Currently, Didier has just begun scoring his third season of the TV series Storm Chasers for the Discovery Channel.

RedLever Acquires ‘Bunco Moms’, ‘One-on-One With John Salley’

22 April 2009 1:08 PM, PDT | From Tubefilter.tv | See recent Tubefilter News news

RedLever, the branded entertainment production company who you may remember from the TRESemmé-branded The Shop Girls of Madison Lane, announced today that they're picking up the rights to two new web series - Bunco Moms and One-on-One With John Salley. One-on-One With John Salley is an interview show hosted by, well, retired basketball player and four-time NBA champion John Salley. It looks like Salley has stayed active since retiring — he seems to show up all over the place — so doing a web show with celebrities in sports, film, music, etc. doesn't seem like too much of a stretch. Personally, I preferred House Arrest With Andy Dick but seeing as Andy Dick is (hopefully) not on house arrest any longer, I'll watch One-on-One With John Salley to scratch my celebrity itch.

The series, which also stars David Cross, Andy Dick and Sam Seder, is a mockumentary that follows the lives of desperate actors, agents and executives during the TV industry's competitive pilot season. Silverman, 38, plays an actress while Fisher, 33, is a personal trainer in the webisodes, which were filmed five years ago and originally aired on the now-defunct Trio channel. AFI Dallas: Patrick Warburton's Rock Slyde

1 April 2009 1:32 PM, PDT | From cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news

I like Patrick Warburton, a lot. So I sort of wish he hadn't shown up to the premiere of his new comedy at AFI Dallas, because there's nothing more uncomfortable than sitting a few rows in front of the film's star and not laughing, not even once. I'm sure he didn't notice, I'm just one bored face in the crowd, but when you're sitting there struggling to keep awake in the midst of this dead-end mess it feels like his eyes are boring straight into the back of your head. I escaped the theater without being throttled by the mighty hands of The Tick, but after he reads this review, well the next time I may not be so lucky. Rock Slyde just isn't very clever or funny. It's exactly the kind of movie you'd expect it to be, after all it stars Patrick Warburton and Andy Dick, not Seth

‘House Arrest With Andy Dick’ Traps You, Never Lets You Leave

12 March 2009 9:03 AM, PDT | From Tubefilter.tv | See recent Tubefilter News news

Looks like professional eccentric Andy Dick has found a new way to be uncomfortably funny in his new web talk show, House Arrest With Andy Dick, which premiered on Atom.com this week. House Arrest With Andy Dick is only running for five episodes, each one weighing in at about five minutes each, so catch it while you can. The initial two episodes feature Cheaters host Joey Greco, (you might remember him as the one who got stabbed on TV), and Mo Collins of MadTV. The March 11th episode added the all-knowing Dr. Drew Pinsky of Loveline and Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.

Andy Dick Talk Show Makes the Most of ‘House Arrest’

11 March 2009 1:04 PM, PDT | From Tilzy.tv | See recent Tilzy.TV news

Does anybody know what to make of Andy Dick? I mean, is he for real? The guy pops up everywhere (sometimes with this son?!?) and whenever I see him I laugh, but I can’t tell if it’s with him or at at him. If anything, dude’s probably laughing at me because, unless he invested with Madoff, he’s loaded, has his choice of assistants to help out with the day-to-day, and had the privilege of working with the late, great Phil Hartman on NewsRadio. Sure, I can leave my living room without first alerting the authorities, but Dick is even making the most of his house arrest with a talk show filmed from somewhere inside the parameters of his Scram ankle bracelet’s safety zone. House Arrest with Andy Dick is simple, brilliant (sort of, I guess) and just as big a disaster-in-waiting as you’d expect.

Ask the Flying Monkey! (February 24, 2009)

23 February 2009 5:35 PM, PST | From AfterElton.com | See recent AfterElton.com news

Have a question about gay male entertainment? Ask the Monkey! (Please include your city and state and/or country)

Q: It seems like Robert Pattinson is attempting to sabotage his own success by talking about his poor hygiene habits etc. Perhaps he is just being very honest, which is refreshing. However, I am curious about his sexual orientation. I have seen him with his friend Tom Sturridge, and they seem very close, but I get the feeling that he is being told by his agent and the Twilight machine not to "come out" since his fans are predominantly young females. Haven't we gotten past all that by now? – Eileen, Gainesville, Virginia

A: First, Pattinson is reportedly straight, having been romantically linked with Nina Schubert, Katie Leung, and Camilla Belle; Sturridge is merely his best friend. And actually, I believe him. Why? Because – as you say – he is so damn honest

Andy Dick, A.D. Miles, Steve Agee Headline Atom’s 2009 Programming Lineup

12 February 2009 7:08 PM, PST | From Tilzy.tv | See recent Tilzy.TV news

If you aren’t familiar with Atom’s web series you should spend some quality time on this page and bask in a pleasant LCD-emitted glow of digital entertainment. After a face lift to the site and major reconstructive surgery to the brand in mid 2008, Comedy Central’s online outpost of original programming has been home to some of the most creative and genuine Lol-inducing shows on the internet. Cases in point: Sandeep Parikh’s story of auto-erotic asphyxiation gone retro Nes in Legend of Neil; a study of Honesty that would make H.L. Mencken smile; middle-schoolers scribbling gone violent in Stickman Exodus; and the tale of a trailer park possessed by Satan in Hell Holes (that one’s from 2007, but it’s awesome so I threw it in). Today, Atom released its upcoming programming lineup for 2009. With talent like A.D. Miles, Nick Thune, Steve Agee, and Andy Dick headlining the list of series,
