‘American Idol’ Season 11 Review: Winner Crowned!

24 May 2012 1:03 PM, PDT | BuzzFocus.com | See recent BuzzFocus.com news »

The moment we have all been waiting for has arrived. After over 132 million votes, 21 year old Phil Phillips from Leesburg, Ga has been crowned the winner of American Idol Season 11. What a glorious moment this was. The finale was jam packed with surprise performances, a two hour celebration concert leading up to the big moment, the win that many may have wanted but not anticipated actually happening. That’s what makes this win so fantastic! The underdog took it home! The one contestant who made no apologies or excuses for being true to himself all season long took the win. Congratulations Phil Phillips! A win well deserved!

A Top 12 reunion was our first treat of the night as our favorites (minus the two finalists) opened with “Runaway Baby” by Bruno Mars. This was one of the most unforgettable group performances for a few reasons. First, this was a wonderful song »

Phillip Phillips Had Eight Operations During American Idol Run, His Father Says

24 May 2012 11:00 AM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

Imagine what Phillip Phillips could do if he were 100 percent healthy. The American Idol winner dazzled viewers all season long, despite battling chronic kidney problems - and having eight separate surgeries - since the competition began, his father told People Wednesday after an eventful finale. "He's been doing [well], but it's just grueling hours and it's just amazing what he's done through the journey," said the singer's dad, also named Phillip Phillips, at the show's official Ford-sponsored after party. "Eight operations since we started American Idol ... He's hitting 50 percent, but he's still up there swinging away." Related: Jessica Sanchez: Phillip »

Neil Diamond and Fantasia plus Reba McEntire rock the 'American Idol' finale stage

The "American Idol" Season 11 finale welcomed "Idol's" annual cavalcade of music stars to the stage for various performances with the Top 13 finalists. Among them were Season 3 winner Fantasia Barrino, classic rocker Neil Diamond and country superstar Reba McEntire.

Fantasy sang "Take Me to the Pilot" with Joshua Ledet, which was ... a lot of screaming. It was kind of like they were scream-fighting at each other. Not really our cup of tea, but let us know in the comments if you were super pumped about it.

Five of the male finalists sang a Neil Diamond medley that consisted of "America," "Cracklin Rosie" and "I'm a Believer," then Colton Dixon welcomed Mr. Diamond himself to the stage to sing-talk his way through "Sweet Caroline."

Finally, in one of the better Idol-sings-with-famous person performances of the night, country cutie Skylar Laine sang "Turn on the Radio" with Reba, which was actually a lot of fun. »

American Idol: Did Phillip Phillips Deserve to Win?

24 May 2012 6:25 AM, PDT | BuzzSugar | See recent BuzzSugar news »

After 132 million votes, Phillip Phillips is the winner of American Idol season 11. The finale was a total talent blowout. Cars were given to the top two (and their mentors), a number of bedazzled spandex bodysuits were rocked, and Jane Lynch was in the audience! Steven Tyler showed off his sloth and Idol alums Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo even got engaged on stage! But let's talk music. Phillip got to have a jam session with Creedence Clearwater Revival's John Fogerty and Jessica Sanchez sang with Tony-winner Jennifer Holliday. But the finalists weren't the only ones who got to perform with their musical inspirations; second runner-up Joshua Ledet sang with his personal idol Fantasia Barrino, Skylar Laine jammed with Reba McEntire, and Hollie Cavanagh lit up the stage with Jordin Sparks. Legends Chaka Khan and Neil Diamond were also there, J Lo and Aerosmith brought down the house, and Rihanna »

American Idol Results: The Season 11 Winner Is...

23 May 2012 8:10 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

The American Idol journey for Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez ends tonight. At the time the finale started, nearly 3,000 TV Fanatics had voted in our Face-Off and y'all have Jessica winning by a narrow margin.

Let's see if you got it right.

American Idol Season 11 Winner: Announced!

The 10 castoffs open the night with "Runaway Baby" by Bruno Mars. Man, there was a whole lot of talent in this season's contestants. This is easily one of the best group numbers I've ever seen on this show and I'm almost never a fan of the group sings. I even feel like there's more choreography than we've seen in years. Dare I say it, I think this tour will be a fun one.

In Phillip Phillips' first performance of the night, he's teaming up with John Fogerty from Ccr for "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" and "Bad Moon Rising." The performances aren't spectacular, »

American Idol Finale Part 2: A Winner is Crowned

American Idol Finale Part 2: A Winner is Crowned

I rewatched last night's episode of American Idol, and I have to say, Phillip did better than I gave him credit for. I can say all I want that I think Jessica deserves to win, but I won't be mad if Phillip does. I'll comment more on the whole 'white guy with guitar' phenomenon later in this post, and how the show can fix itself. On to the show!

The night starts out with a group song to Bruno Mars' "Runaway Baby" (I believe that is the title, I am typing this as I watch), and it's the typical all-in-white mess we've come to expect from finale night. There's a weird, unnecessary dance break, and then it's time for the show to really start. Ryan and the judges come out, Ryan building up the show with 132 million votes cast. When Phillip and Jessica come out, »

Laura Prudom: 'American Idol' Finale: The Winner Is ...

Unlike the actual "American Idol" results show, we don't intend to keep you in suspense about the winner with two hours of filler. After 132 million votes cast last night (really, people?), the 11th winner of the juggernaut reality competition is ...

Phillip Phillips.

The White Guy With Guitar strikes again! Looks like that stereotypical streak on "American Idol" isn't being broken any time soon. Whatever else you might say about P-squared (and I fully expect you to in the comments section), the ladies seem to love him. He's got a radio-ready sound -- especially with his Mumford & Sons-esque winner's song, "Home" -- and he probably has the greatest chance of making an impact on the charts, as so many previous "American Idol" winners have failed to do.

Did he have the best vocals, an impressive range or the ability to work the stage? No. But that doesn't preclude him from being a successful artist, »
