Considering yesterday’s Tribeca Ball red carpet was more meh than fabulous, we expected the Tribeca Film Festival’s Vanity Fair party to up the ante. Sadly, it didn’t. There were some stand-outs. Jessica White nailed it again in a cream gown with lace overlay and a sexy slit up the draped thigh. Helena Christensen looked fresh and fine in a summery white cocktail frock which was yards better than her pastoral maxi at the Tribeca Ball. Sticking to the white theme was Leelee Sobieski wore a very simple Jil Sander gown (see above right) that we absolutely love. Unfortunately, she killed it with a weird Star Wars-esque ‘do.
There were a couple of other head-scratchers too. Like why would Catherine Zeta-Jones put on that terribly unflattering metallic gray Michael Kors frock? Why would someone as gorgeous as Lily Cole put on a glorified sack? Why would Dakota Fanning »

We’d like to save the best for last, so we’re going to start with who didn’t hit the mark at last night’s Tribeca Ball in New York. The event was honoring Robert de Niro, Fyi, and was held at the New York Academy of Art. We’ll start with Solange Knowles on the left. Love the coral lips and print blouse, but not exactly loving those high-waisted, shiny trousers. Taking “shiny” to a whole new level is Carla Gugino, in the middle. She’s such a beautiful woman, but that bouffant hair is all wrong, especially when paired with that red, satin dress. We get she was trying to go retro, but couldn’t get it right. Then there’s Paz de la Huerta on the right. We don’t even know what to say, or where to begin. Just … No.
We’re moving on to the meh pile next, »

In music, film, art and fashion, the 1990s are now making a comeback. But is this driven by nostalgia or does it reflect a shift in the national mood?
Between the whitewashed walls of Visions Video Bar, a London club, a crush of brothel creepers and flannel shirts throws spry shapes in the air as Nas's NY State of Mind segues deftly into Camp Lo's Luchini. "Tune!" howls a boy in a peaked cap to his girlfriend with an undercut.
London in the 90s? Wrong. This is Dalston in east London last weekend.
For many of us, the 90s was a decade imbued with anti-fashion, grunge and naff hair, seemingly mercifully resistant to a revival. But with the return of "Madchester" stalwarts the Stone Roses, a proliferation of grunge on the catwalk and yet another sequel to American Pie, it seems that the 90s are making a return.

She might be most well-known for playing George Clooney‘s kid or America’s favorite pregnant teenager, but Shailene Woodley wants you to know she is now an Adult with a capital A. The A stands for “Ahhh, girl! What happened to your shirt?” In case it wasn’t already crystal clear that Shailene is blossoming into womanhood, The Descendants star posed sans blouse for the newest issue of Vs. Magazine. The mastermind behind Woodley’s racier look? None other than Drew Barrymore, who hand-picked Woodley for the cover, as well as photographed her au natural. Shailene is joined by fellow cover models Julianne Moore, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Elizabeth Olsen, Helena Christensen and Erin Wasson for the multi-cover issue. Welcome to the big leagues, Shailene. The big sexy leagues.

According to George Clooney, "The Descendants" breakout star Shailene Woodley is well on her way to becoming Hollywood royalty. And what Clooney says, goes.
"I want to adopt Shailene [Woodley]," joked Clooney to The Insider. "Because she's 20 and smart, and I figure she has a big career ahead and can support me. So, I'm looking to adopt very successful people."
So what's the next logical step for any Clooney-endorsed starlet who's at the tipping point of making it big? Posing nude for a fashion magazine. That's exactly what Woodley did -- to an extent -- for Vs. magazine's latest issue, on newsstands later this week. The "Secret Life of the American Teenager" actress went topless for the sultry shoot, her back facing the camera.
But Woodley's inclusion in the mag -- Julianne Moore, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Elizabeth Olsen, Helena Christensen and Erin Wasson also earned top billing for the multi-cover issue -- wasn't caused by Clooney's cooing. »

London, Feb 3: Helena Christensen, whose new Reebok campaign centres around what women find most satisfying in life, has revealed what keeps her content.
As part of her duties as a brand ambassador for Reebok, the 43-year-old fashion model took part in the brand's new "Satisfaction Campaign". The sports label conducted a Europe-wide survey to get to the heart of what women find most satisfying in life, and the results were fairly humble.
"I travel a lot with my work, so spending time with my family and friends is important to me," the Telegraph quoted Christensen as saying.
"It's interesting to see that. »

Take a look at this photograph of Rachel Weisz for L’Oreal Revitalift. It isn’t risque at all, is it? But it still has been banned in the U.K. by the Advertising Standards Authority. Showing that advertising standards are getting a lot stricter, the Asa states its reason for the ban thusly: “[T]he image had been altered in a way that substantially changed her complexion to make it appear smoother and more even. We therefore concluded that the image in the ad therefore misleadingly exaggerated the performance of the product.”
Is this much ado about nothing or were they right to pull it down? They also banned Dakota Fanning‘s Marc Jacobs “Oh Lola” perfume ad for being inappropriate. On a side note: If you stare at the photograph for too long, Rachel looks like a mixture of Helena Christensen and J.Lo.
