The animated series Tron: Uprising, debuting with a special preview on the Disney Channel on May 18th before premiering on Disney Xd on June 7th, takes place after the 1982 feature film and before the events in Tron: Legacy. Produced in CG animation with a 2D aesthetic, the series follows the heroic journey of a new character named Beck (voiced by Elijah Wood), a young program who becomes the unlikely leader of a revolution inside the computer world of The Grid. You can watch the first episode here. At the press day for this highly anticipated new show, actress Emmanuelle Chriqui, who voices Paige, General Tesler's (voiced by Lance Henriksen) confident and polished field commander, talked about how blown away she was by the look of the entire series, having been familiar with the original Tron film, what attracted her to the role, how Paige is much more than just a villain, »

With the show itself not starting its run until June 7th, Disney have decided to drop a full length (31 minute) prologue for Tron Uprising on us via Youtube, as well as other sources around the globe. Thanks Disney Xd, you’re the best!
Tron Uprising takes place between the original Tron movie and Tron Legacy, with Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz as consulting producers as well as writers for this prologue episode ‘Beck’s Beginning’. The story is of Beck (Elijah Wood) a program who does not want to put up with Clu’s rule (remember Clu is the copy of Flynn that went rogue between Tron movies and was the villain in Tron Legacy – y’know, bad Jeff Bridges). Taking on the guise of Tron (the hero program that is presumed dead) Beck takes on Clu’s armies and starts to make the programs in »

TFG1 Mike, of the GeekCast Radio Network, has been checking out some new shows airing on Us television this week including the new USA series Common Law and the eagerly awaited new Tron animated series, Tron: Uprising, on Disney Xd. Here’s his first impressions:
Greetings Programs! Tron: Legacy was released in 2010, and finally Tron: Uprising has aired on the Disney Channel and Disney Xd. I have absolutely been pulled into the world of Tron. Loved the original movie and Tron: Legacy so I was excited for the premiere of Tron: Uprising, and it happened on Disney Channel 5/18/12.
This series is set between Tron and Tron Legacy, and it’s supposedly gonna be a 10 part miniseries. It’s a pretty sweet looking cartoon. In this series we follow the story of Beck, whom is supposed to be the next Tron. In the first episode we see Beck and his friends »

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, series creator Bruno Heller discussed what’s in store for Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) in season 5, the dark turn the series will take next season, the move to Sunday night, how some fans will be disappointed when Red John is finally revealed, and much more.
With Lorelei (Emmanuelle Chriqui) firmly in the grasps of the Cbi, fans are waiting to see how Jane will ...

[Warning: Contains spoilers from Thursday night's Mentalist finale]
Get that limo! Get that limo! But that dastardly Red John outsmarted Patrick Jane again in the season 4 finale, having used a decoy to fool the Cbi team. Worry not: EW.com has an interview with The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller, who wrote tonight’s episode, answering burning questions about the finale, sharing thoughts about Red John’s identity, and giving hints as to what fans can expect next season and beyond (could The Mentalist suffer the same abrupt conclusion as CSI: Miami?).
Entertainment Weekly: You got to jailbreak Patrick Jane from the constraints of the Cbi. Bet you had fun writing this one. »

Although, not everyone may agree, I positively enjoyed Tron: Legacy and a lot more than I originally expected. Sure, there were issues with Jeff Bridge’s slightly bizarre CGI-younger face but it recreated that pretty unique feeling from the 1982 original and then pushed it up another level while adding a seamless electronic soundtrack by Daft Punk. Not forgetting, that extra bonus that Olivia Wilde looked stunning.
But before I digress, Disney Xd has just released the trailer for their upcoming TV series Tron: Uprising and it looks pretty darn impressive. It’s not just a fast moving small screen series either, there’s a great voice cast assembled that includes Elijah Wood, Lance Henriksen, Paul Reubens, Mandy Moore, Emmanuelle Chriqui plus Bruce Boxleitner back to voice Tron, the star of the original film in the same role. Have a look and let us know what you think:

The New Disney Xd animated series Tron Uprising begins in June and this new trailer, offering a closer look at the hand drawn elements of the show, looks pretty stunning. With a voice cast that boasts Elijah Wood, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Nate Corddry, (the man, the legend) Lance Henriksen, Paul Reubens, Reginald VelJohnson and Bruce Boxleitner reprising his role as Tron, this animated show looks to do what the movies have done and not look like anything else Disney creates and slants towards a more grown up audience.
So the synopsis goes, this series will have Tron training young program Beck to battle against Clu on the grid. So far the teasers are looking very impressive indeed and the computer animation is doing a nice job and capturing and expanding what was achievedin both the original Tron and Tron Legacy.

Disney Xd has released a great new trailer for their Tron: Uprising animated series. I love the world of Tron, and I enjoyed the last live-action film. It was basically a live-action animated movie, so I think animation is a perfect medium for this world and these characters. It looks like an exciting show that Tron fans will have a blast watching. I'm looking forward to it.
Here's the show's description:
