Scott Brown Wins A Hot Date

7 December 2011 3:31 PM, PST | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

In the midst of a heated reelection run, Sen. Scott Brown's (R-Mass.) free time is at a premium. A dinner date with Wonder Woman made the cut.

The Hill writes that Brown has won a meal with Lynda Carter, the star of the 1970s television series. Carter was auctioned off to Brown for $1,000 at the recent D.C.'s Funniest Celebrity charity event, with proceeds going to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. (Brown, it should be noted, is married to former TV reporter Gail Huff and has two daughters.)

Brown's affinity for Wonder Woman may be one of the few items he and his opponent in the 2012 Senate race have in common. A November New York Times Magazine profile had constituents comparing Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren to the superhero.

Warren seems to like that comparison herself. During an October debate, she was asked what superhero she would be. »

8 November 2011 8:10 AM, PST | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

Batman has had terrific success in Hollywood and Superman's about to give it another go with "Man of Steel" in 2013, but it just hasn't worked out for Wonder Woman, the third pillar of DC Entertainment's trinity of heroes. The Amazon warrior's path towards theaters has been a complicated one, with recent attempts at revitalizing the character through animation and live-action television failing for numerous reasons.

What is it about Wonder Woman that makes her so difficult to handle on the big screen? The answer, according to current "Wonder Woman" scribe Brian Azzarello and artist Cliff Chiang, isn't an easy one.

"I would say that the audience has wanted different things out of a Wonder Woman movie over the years and that the creative side hasn’t quite figured out the way go," Chiang told Hero Complex in a new interview. "Wonder Woman presents a thorny question: How are you going »

Scoop: Chuck Introducing Sarah's [Spoiler]!

Last year, Chuck introduced us to its title spy’s mom, Linda Hamilton. And this year? For its final season, the show is introducing Sarah’s mom, Emma. The possibly recurring character is described as a beautiful blonde who is, in essence, a walking hug. Our suggestions to play the part:

* Carrie Fisher: Not only does her Star Wars bro, Mark Hamill, guest in this season’s opener — making her casting an almost-reunion — the erstwhile Princess Leia just dropped a ton of weight. And what’s the old saying? If you lost it, flaunt it!

* Rene Russo: Check out these credentials, »

If there was a belle of this year’s Emmys ball, it would have to be Mike & Molly’s Melissa McCarthy, who was crowned best lead actress in a comedy series. It was a triumphant moment for an actress who, in the last year, went from having her right to star on a sitcom about two people falling in love questioned, to being the breakout star of the box office hit Bridesmaids and landing an upcoming spot hosting Saturday Night Live (Oct. 1).
