Longtime Daily Show scribe/correspondent Wyatt Cenac — who recently made waves after detailing a rocky relationship with Jon Stewart — will next turn his attention to The Group, TBS’ upcoming comedy pilot in which he will star.
The Group — which counts Conan O’Brien and Greg Daniels (The Office, Parks and Recreation) among its executive producers — focuses on skeptical journalist Wyatt Jones (Cenac), who investigates a support group for people who believe they have been abducted by aliens. The more he digs into the oddballs’ claims, however, the more confused, intrigued and seduced he becomes.

If there’s one thing to take away from this collection of Scream Queens cast portraits — besides Ryan Murphy’s penchant for casting gorgeous humans — let it be this: There are so many characters on this show.
Granted, if you’re planning to pick people off one by one, it’s probably wise to begin with a healthy stable of victims. And the stars of Fox’s horror-anthology series, premiering Sept. 22 at 8/7c, are certainly looking healthy.

LeBron James will guest star on Season 2 of Starz dramedy “Survivor’s Remorse”
He said James, who currently serves as an executive producer on the series, has been an asset to the writers. While his basketball career precludes him from being in the writers’ room, he regularly pitches story ideas loosely based on his real life experiences.

So much yes! Ryan Murphy's highly anticipated Scream Queens has cast the parents of Ariana Grande's character (Chanel #2), and we are all about it. E! News has learned that Roger Bart (Revenge, Desperate Housewives) will play Chanel #2's father, and Charisma Carpenter (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel) has been cast as her mother. We screened the pilot episode of Scream Queens last night and can tell you it does not disappoint--and neither does Ariana. In fact, her scene (as well as Nick Jonas') got the biggest laughs of the entire first hour, as her character, #2, texted and social media'd her way through a ridiculous situation. Gotham has filled its villain void by casting James Frain (The Tudors, Orphan Black) in the series-regular role of Theo Galavan, brother to Tabitha Galavan, Aka DC Comics villain Tigress, our sister site Deadline reports.
Theo (who you first heard about here) is a sexy, heroic, billionaire industrialist who’s new to the city, and Gotham is happy to have him. But his philanthropy covers a centuries-old vendetta, and he and Tabitha — to whom he’s very devoted — have violent, chaotic plans for the city they’re planning to destroy.
First off, the above photo comes courtesy of the wonderful Tumblr blog "The Cryface," which makes a good case for the existence of Tumblr. Also, don't you feel old? Cordelia from "Buffy" is playing Ariana Grande's mother on Fox's "Scream Queens." As in, Charisma Carpenter is 44 goddamn years old, and what do you have to show for it? College loan debt? Sadness? The slow, creeping death of your childhood dreams? Consider this a wakeup call. "Scream Queens," by the by, is slated to premiere September 22 on Fox. Here's dewy, fresh-faced 24-year-old actress Emma Roberts announcing the news on Instagram today: It's all happening!!!! #ScreamQueens A photo posted by Emma Roberts (@emmaroberts) on Jun 24, 2015 at 2:48pm Pdt How will you use this moment? »

Today is a good day to be a Scream Queen! Right after we found out that the series would be arriving on our TV screens on September 22, we got some more amazing news. Charisma Carpenter, also known as Cordelia Chase from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, has been cast in the horror/comedy series from Ryan Murphy as the mother of one very famous pop star named Ariana Grande! While not a lot is known about Grande's character, she seems to be playing one of Emma Roberts' sorority henchwomen. Absolutely everything we've heard about this show so far has only made us more excited, and this is no exception. The series, from Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, »

Wayward Pines returns this Thursday (Fox, 9/8c), and with it comes more answers about what, where and when Ethan Burke has gotten himself wrapped up in.

When last we tuned into the midseason thriller, just as his son Ben was getting the jaw-dropping download from Mrs. Fisher — about the violent “abbies” roaming outside the fence, and the none-too-small fact that it’s now the year 4028 (!!!) — Ethan’s exploration of the wilderness beyond Wayward Pines (rudely) introduced him to not just an abby, »
The titular master magician and renowned author have been cast for Houdini & Doyle, a supernatural adventure drama to debut on Fox sometime in 2016.

An international co-production between the UK’s Big Talk and Canada’s Shaftesbury — and counting House creator David Shore among its executive producers — the 10-episode drama will star Michael Weston (House) and Brit actor Stephen Mangan (Episodes) as Harry Houdini and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who respectively debunked and had a fascination with the paranormal. Together, they ally with Scotland Yard to investigate inexplicable crimes that have a supernatural slant. »
Tyler will recur during Season 11 of the crime drama as Dr. Tara Lewis, a forensic psychologist who is determined by Hotch to be the best candidate for Kate Callahan’s vacated position, EW.com reports.
If you thought that Angel Investigations had hit new levels of bad luck at the start of Hero, then Parting Gifts makes it look like Christmas morning.
For alas, Angel Investigations is not only broke, client-less (the last paying client seems to have been Melissa Burns) and now one man down. Poor old Doyle has fallen victim to the evil Scourge's deadly light ray, and neither Angel nor Cordelia are taking this too well.
Giving Angel some credit though – at least he knows that he's in a fantasy drama. Paying another trip to the Oracles, he's desperate for them to work their mojo to somehow bring Doyle back or reverse time. It's too much like hard work for these two Oracles – such a time-consuming job would distract them from swanning around in their golden palace while listening to harp music and concocting harsh put-downs to lesser mortals. Angel's looking in the wrong place though. »
It has now been 11 years since the Buffyverse came to an end (as far as its television shows were concerned, at least). Buffy The Vampire Slayer saw its final episode aired in 2003, while Angel saw its last episode air one year later – and fans of the shows still miss them both to this day.
One of the key reasons behind the popularity of the two shows was undoubtedly the characters. A talented group of regular cast members and supporting actors brought to life some of the weirdest, wackiest, funniest and most interesting characters anybody could ever wish for in a television series and many of them have gone on to obtain further success in Hollywood (and some of them had actually already made their mark in the world of film).

I don't think there has ever been an upcoming release where I have received so many related material "opportunities" in my Inbox. Publicists are sending "ideas" left and right, movies they believe to be more scandalous than Fifty Shades of Grey, books, articles about related bullsh*t, a Shades of Romance Conference, a list of favorite "Fifty Shades of Cocktails", a "Will Valentine's Day Erotica Become Mainstream Filmc" article suggestion, and so on and so on. Today I also received a note from MovieTickets.com telling me "the number of tickets sold by the company in January 2015 were up 37% over January 2014. The extraordinary first month figures are led by advance ticket sales on American Sniper. Fifty Shades of Grey has also been a very brisk seller, currently trending #1 at MovieTickets.com with 42% of all tickets sold by the company in the last 24 hours being for the film coming to theaters next week. »

“Fifty Shades of Grey” might be coming to the theaters, but if you want to get a jump on the sexual thrills and chills, then watch out for the sexual thriller “Bound,” starring Daniel Baldwin and Charisma Carpenter (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”). The film also stars Terrell Owens (“About Last Night,” “Any Given Sunday”) and Bryce Draper (“Tyler Perry’s The Haves and the Have Nots”). The film comes from The Asylum, the production company that has created such fan-favorite hits like “Sharknado” and “Z Nation.” The company is once again working with writer/director Jared Cohn, known for “Born Bad” and “Hold Your Breath.” The film stars Carpenter as a woman [ Read More ]
