Mindy Newell: Patience, Perfection, And Procrastination

31 July 2017 10:00 AM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

I’m pretty much stuck at home these days because of the fractured ankle. Can’t go to my day job for six to eight weeks, per my orthopedic surgeon, and even with the walking boot, the orders are to stay off of it as much as possible. The first couple of weeks I probably walked and stood more than I should have, but as I will snarkily tell my doctor when I see him on August 10 that that’s what happens when your mom dies. Amazingly, there was barely any pain, though perhaps that was a function of the Advil and the Pinot Noir at dinner afterward. Yes, we had a Jewish version of a Christian repast at my mom and dad’s favorite Italian restaurant. (And perhaps my mom was intervening.)

But the other day, right after the almost week-long heat wave in the NYC metropolitan area broke, »

‘The Price Is Right’ Contestant Breaks Plinko Record, Loses Mind

26 May 2017 10:03 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

On Thursday’s episode of CBS’s hit game show “The Price Is Right,” contestant Ryan Belz broke Plinko records by landing his chips in the $10,000 slot three times.

For those who aren’t rabid “Price” followers, Plinko involves a contestant standing at the top of a large vertical gameboard who then drops chips down into a series of channels. At the bottom of the gameboard are a series of slots, each worth a certain amount of money ranging from zero to $10,000. The contestant is given five chips and attempts to rack up as much money as possible.

Belz started off his run on top, with his first chip landing in the $10,000 slot. He immediately flipped out and began yelling and clutching his chest in shock and joy. His second scored him an additional $1,000. After his third chip once again landed in the $10,000 slot, the audience began to chant “Ryan, Ryan »

[[tmz:video id="0_hgm5ec9l"]] "The Price is Right" contestant Renee was rocking some Drew Carey-themed fingernails on Wednesday's show, but she'll be remembered for something else ... falling on her ass. Drew warned her to be careful with her fancy nails ... which may have caused her to lose her grip on the wheel after spinning it. Translation -- we blame Carey. Drew Carey may have started hosting the Price Is Right nearly 10 years ago, but it's still hard to forget about the show's original host, Bob Barker. In fact, during an episode of the show this week, a contestant named Grace accidentally referred to Carey as "Bob." While bidding on a pair of of action cameras, she yelled out, "$2,000, Bob!" to which Carey repeated, laughing, "$2000, Bob!" After letting all the other contestants bid, Carey came back to the comment with a chuckle. "I've been doing this show almost 10 years," he said before shaking her hand. "Carey, Drew Carey. ‘Price Is Right’ Contestant Mistakes Drew Carey for Bob Barker (Video)

A contestant on “The Price Is Right” accidentally called Drew Carey by his predecessor Bob Barker’s name on Friday’s episode of the CBS game show. But the host took the mistake in good humor. “I’ve been doing this show for almost 10 years,” he deadpanned before jokingly introducing himself to the contestant and shaking her hand. Carey took over the show in June 2007, upon Barker’s retirement. In fairness to the contestant, his 10 years doesn’t even come close to matching Barker’s 35-year tenure as host. Aaron Paul made the most of his Price Is Right do-over!

The Breaking Bad star, who suffered a heartbreaking loss as a contestant on a 2000 episode of the long-running game show, was given a chance at redemption on Wednesday's Late Late Show with James Corden.

Well.... it was sort of a redemption. It can maybe be more accurately described as Paul and Corden breaking into the Price Is Right soundstage and conducting a faux episode, complete with a cardboard Drew Carey -- before the real one shows up to give Paul his second shot at game show glory.
