BBC: How Vamps Got All Touchy Feely

24 December 2008 5:07 PM, PST | twilightersanonymous.com | See recent TwilightersAnonymous news »

How vampires got all touchyfeely. With the hit film Twilight the transformation of vampires from terrifying bloodsucking killers to sensitive emotionallyintelligent misunderstood souls is complete. How was Bram Stokers legacy so drastically betrayed? nbsp When you hear the word vampire what image comes to mind? Men in black cloaks with pasty faces protruding fangs and an insatiable desire to feast on peoples blood? Strange Transylvanians who sleep in coffins by day and flap around like bats at night? Perhaps you think of gangs of the undead who are scared of garlic and can only be killed by having a wooden stake driven through their hearts. Well think again. The vampire has had a makeover. Hes no longer a weird threatening foreigner with a strange voice and even stranger dining habits the vampire has become supercool lusted after by girls and envied by boys. SAG: Over 130 Stars Against Strike

15 December 2008 1:45 PM, PST | Digital Media Law | See recent Digital Media Law news »

Over 130 stars have weighed in on the SAG strike authorization, coming out firmly against. Citing the economy, the A-listers “strongly” urged SAG members not to authorize a strike, and instead “take the high road … unite with our brothers and sisters in the entertainment community and … three years down the line … make a great deal” when all the union contracts expire roughly simultaneously.

Finally, we’re hearing from the A-listers, and it may be enough to pull SAG back from the brink. Meanwhile SAG Board members in NY and Chicago came out against the authorization over the weekend.

In addition, SAG President Alan Rosenberg was forced to cancel the emergency in-person National Board meeting he had scheduled for this Friday, after SAG activists pointed out in the strongest terms that Rosenberg had no right under the SAG constitution or state law to require that the meeting be in person, rather than by videoconference. »

Dead Again

24 November 2008 12:59 AM, PST | backstage.com | See recent Backstage news »

Summer blockbuster producers, take note: David Boreanaz could very well be your next big action hero. "I'm like a gold mine," jokes the actor, "an undiscovered gold mine." After all, slaying demons and engaging in death-defying feats was part of his daily grind as the tortured title vampire on the cult series Angel. "I would come in and learn a fight sequence and kick some ass and jump off a burning building," he says. "It was amazing the amount of work we did in those years." These days Boreanaz is still bringing small-screen bad guys to justice, but as a decidedly different character: intuitive FBI agent Seeley Booth on the Fox hit Bones. This season the actor, who also serves as a producer on the show, is stepping behind the camera to direct a few episodes. "I think if you're involved in a television show, especially an hourlong show, you're »

Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) fly the unfriendly skies on tonight's episode of "Bones," when a dead body is found in an oven onboard an airliner en route to China. "She is going to the Wuhan caves to look at some bones and help the Chinese government and I am traveling with her to protect the gear that she is using," David tells Et. "We find a passenger who has been stuffed in the galley oven, and we have to solve the crime before the plane lands, or I will lose all jurisdiction." The body has been melted in an oven and Brennan has to figure out how the victim was killed using only the equipment available to her on the plane. "They have these large ovens for food," Emily adds. "We find a body there and the clock is ticking. We have to find out who killed this person. »

Will Ryan Gosling Become the Green Lantern?

9 October 2008 10:03 AM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Last month, Elisabeth shared some concept art for the upcoming Green Lantern movie, and she mentioned the possibility of it being on par with Iron Man. For that to happen, there would have to be a pretty dynamic star in the driver's seat. So how about Ryan Gosling?

A Latino Review source at Warner Brothers has said that the studio wants the Lars and the Real Girl actor to wear that glowing green ring. Now, the concept art I referenced might look a little bit beefy for the thin star, but Hal Jordan was modeled after Paul Newman, at least partially, so Gosling would be a pretty good match for that (should the green dude be Jordan). But even more importantly -- Gosling knows how to make the strange seem natural -- he made a heartfelt and funny film where he was in love with a flipping Real Doll. If he can do that, »

Hal Jordan and 'The Real Girl'

9 October 2008 7:41 AM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

It's hardly a secret that Warner Bros. is looking to put Green Lantern into the skies next year. Numerous reports have indicated the studio's interest in developing the DC super-hero project, including Production Weekly's acknowledgment of the project as in "active development" and numerous reviews confirming that a script exists. In fact, the buzz across the net and at the DC offices is that the script is just "fantastic."

With Hal Jordan set to slip that ring on in the near future, it's no wonder that casting speculation has taken the internet by storm. Many fans champion Nathan Fillion of Firefly fame. David Boreanaz (Angel, Bones) was considered a frontrunner for the role due to illustrator Brian Murray's official concept art using the actor as a model. Although the Boreanaz casting has been debunked by numerous sources since, speculation continues.

Latino Review is the latest to join the fun with a new report. »

Gosling for Lantern?

That trusty scoopilator El Mayimbe over at "Latino Review" just landed another cool ass scoop from his network of spies within the studios. Apparently, all the rumors you may have heard about either Seth Green, Justin Long, or David Boreanaz taking on the titular hero in the upcoming Green Lantern adaptation are all bunk. According to Mayimbe, Warner Bros. would like Ryan Gosling to strap on Abin Sur.s ring as the emerald powered superhero also known as Hal Jordan. Gosling, of »

Bones: Preview of "The He in the She"

8 October 2008 1:00 AM, PDT | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

Last week on Bones, we followed the team in their quest to sort through the remains of a despised office manager, which was found in an elevator shaft.  The team immediately set out to find out which employee was responsible for the murder and later discovers that the manager had more than enough complaints filed against him.  We also saw Angela and Hodgins try to resolve their issues in the lab following their break-up.

Tonight, Bones returns with another new fourth season episode airing tonight at 8pm on Fox.

Spoiler Fix reports that on tonight’s episode of Bones, the team will set out to work on skeletal remains found in the Chesapeake Bay.  To make things more complicated, only the upper torso of the victim is intact, leaving the team very little to work from, including the victim’s breast implants.  Brennan and Booth head to a small church »

Piven Feels Punk'd, Tina Loses Her Bag & More From Winners!

22 September 2008 8:30 AM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

After taking the podium, the winners and presenters headed back to the press area to pose with their statues and field all sorts of interviews. Buzz and I were lucky enough to be back in the Press Room during last night's Emmys to catch the victorious in all their glory. Buzz has some of the best highlights from Mad Men, 30 Rock, Colbert, Stewart and more. Piven was the first to win and the first to come backstage where he quickly insulted the reality TV host opening saying he thought everyone was being "Punk'd" and called it a "celebration of nothing." Tina Fey was hilarious as always though she ran into a little trouble losing her bag! She told the room to keep an eye out for it saying, "It's a small purple purse with an iPhone in it with a picture of a naked toddler on it.” Ha. Alec Baldwin »

The Boys Band Together on the Emmy Red Carpet

22 September 2008 12:24 AM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

The men left all the color to the ladies on the red carpet at the Emmys last night, keeping it tame in their dapper suits and tuxes. True to form, the Entourage boys walked and posed together, while Jeremy Piven and John Krasinski held their own with their hands in their pockets. Diddy hammed it up as usual, and Patrick Dempsey, Jon Hamm, and Neil Patrick Harris added just a little more dreaminess to the equation. Mark Wahlberg took a break from his newborn baby boy to hit the red carpet. While most of them played it safe this time around, bonus points all around to the guys for successfully putting their handsome selves together. To see tons (we're talking hundreds) more photos including Jon Hamm, Christian Slater, David Boreanaz and so many others just read more. Mark Wahlberg Michael C. Emmy Awards Reality Hosts Get Black and Blue and Boo

21 September 2008 7:05 AM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

Oprah wowed in red as she opened the show after the cool What's my line? clip but unfortunately following her was the reality hosts talking about nothing. It was almost as uncomfortable as watching Ricky Gervais ask for his Emmy back from Steve Carell. Yes it was funny but I was getting a bit worried that Steve was going to cry or beat the crap out of him. Other quick thoughts: Steve Martin, Genius. Josh Groban, surprisingly cool! Neil Patrick Harris and Kristin Chenoweth, favorite presenting couple. Cruel joke that was perfect — making reality TV host category wait until after the commercial break to see who won. Desperate Housewives all dolled up. Yay Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin and Mad Men! Click here for all the winners from last night. As for next year, let's hope the Emmys settle on one host since this year's group was like an experiment gone bad. »

Geek Daily: Who's Not Playing Whom

17 September 2008 2:03 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

It's a quiet day on the news front -- mostly casting rumors shot down before I even had a chance to hear them. Now I get to do the same to you, readers!

Will Smith is, for the last time, not playing Captain America. Rumors of Smith playing Cap were everywhere (including here) and it wasn't as crazy as it seemed. The first Captain America was African-American, after all, and the clunky title The First Avenger: Captain America could suggest they would honor that mythology. But they're not -- not only did Ain't It Cool News debunk it earlier this month, but Smith has confirmed it. In fact, he told MTV he hadn't even heard the rumor.

David Boreanaz is not the Green Lantern. Rumors flew that he was in consideration, as his face was used in the concept art, but as Hal Jordan is 27 and Boreanaz is in his late 30's, »
