'Over There' cast reports to Bochco, FX

The ensemble cast is set for FX's pilot Over There from Steven Bochco Prods. and 20th Century Fox Television. Nicki Aycox, Erik Palladino, Keith Robinson, Josh Henderson, Luke MacFarlane, Sticky Fingaz, Lizette Carrion and Sprague Grayden have been tapped as series regulars on the contemporary war drama, which centers on the members of an Army unit sent to Iraq on their first tour of duty. It also examines the effects of war on those soldiers' families at home. Bochco will executive produce with Chris Gerolmo, who will direct the pilot he wrote. Shooting begins in mid-January in Southern California. »

Badham on ABC's 'Blind' case

John Badham has been tapped as showrunner and executive producer of the ABC midseason drama Blind Justice. The veteran film director, whose credits include Saturday Night Fever and WarGames, will executive produce the series alongside co-creators Steven Bochco, Matt Olmstead and Nicholas Wootton and former New York police detective Bill Clark. Bochco's company, Steven Bochco Prods., is co-producing Blind with Paramount Television. »

ABC assigns Somerville to 'NYPD' duty

Bonnie Somerville is set to join the cast of ABC's NYPD Blue as a regular when Steven Bochco's veteran cop drama returns for its 12th and final season in the fall. She will play a sexy detective who joins the New York Police Department's 15th Precinct. Somerville will fill the void left by the recent departure of Charlotte Ross, who played Detective Connie McDowell on the Emmy-winning series for more than three years. Somerville starred in the WB's critically praised comedy Grosse Pointe and NBC's sitcom In-Laws. She also had recurring roles on the hit series Friends on NBC and The O.C. on Fox. Somerville, who will next be seen in the feature Without a Paddle, is repped by ICM and McKeon/Valeo Management. »

Big Wednesday for drama castings

Wednesday saw a flurry of drama pilot castings. Marisol Nichols has been tapped to star in Steven Bochco's project Blind Justice for ABC; Garcelle Beauvais and Laura Leighton have joined the cast of ABC's Eyes; Rob Estes has come on board Fox's Oahu; Elizabeth Mitchell, Milo Ventimiglia, Travis Schuldt and Izabella Miko have joined ABC's Gramercy Park; Jamie Denton and Ricardo Chavira have been added to the cast of ABC's Desperate Housewives; David Cubitt has joined ABC's untitled bounty hunters project; and Kat Dennings has landed on CBS' Sudbury. On the comedy side, Kali Rocha, Rocky Carroll and Sarah Shahi have been added to ABC's pilot Plan B. Blind Justice, from Paramount Network TV and Steven Bochco Prods., centers on a homicide detective (Ron Eldard) reinstated after he was blinded on the job. Nichols will play a homicide detective who works with him. »

Fleder leads 'Blind'; CBS taps 2

Gary Fleder has been tapped to direct Blind Justice, Steven Bochco's drama pilot for ABC. Meanwhile, CBS has picked up two comedy pilots, an untitled family sitcom starring comedian Andrew Kennedy and Washington Street. On the pilot casting front, Jayne Brook has been tapped to star as Maureen Robinson in the WB Network's drama pilot The Robinsons: Lost in Space. Blind Justice, from Steven Bochco Prods. and Paramount Network TV, centers on a police officer (Ron Eldard) blinded on the job. Matt Olmstead and Nicholas Wootton penned the script and are exec producing with Bochco. »

ABC to end 'NYPD Blue' after Season 12

ABC on Monday announced that it has completed a deal with Steven Bochco Prods. to renew "NYPD Blue" for a 12th and final season. ABC is said to be planning a big sendoff for the venerable cop drama in the 2004-05 season, recognizing the show's place in primetime history as a trailblazer and Nielsen stalwart for the network, despite ABC's ups and downs in recent seasons. In addition to deciding the fate of "Blue", ABC also has given a pilot order to Bochco and Paramount Network TV for a drama, "Blind Justice", with Ron Eldard attached to star, sources said. »
