Ed mentioned Tamar Iveri this morning, and now Opera Australia has officially given her the boot.

Hollywood It Boy Ansel Elgort will play the late pianist Van Cliburn in a new bio-drama. The article makes no mention, but Van was gay, and involved in a palimony suit in the 90′s. I wonder if the movie will get that far.

Congrats to Michael Arden, who instagrammed his engagement announcement. “”Come, woo me, woo me, for now I am in a holiday humour and like enough to consent.” #engaged #andyandmichael”

1990s teen movies you'll remember - and some you won't

12 June 2014 1:36 PM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

What makes a classic? Sarah digs into the ‘90s teen genre to find the difference between an iconic movie and a forgotten one...

Feature

The 90s revival can’t be ignored any longer. The nostalgia is in full bloom right now: walk down the high street and you’ll see 90s-inspired crop tops and stonewashed denim in every shop window, while current cool kids Iggy Azalea and Charli Xcx (neither of whom were old enough to see the film at the time) have paid slavish tribute to Clueless in the video for their current single Fancy. We’ve already pillaged the ‘80s for all they were worth and now, apparently, it’s time to start excavating the 90s. No matter how old that makes us feel.

If there’s one film genre that screams “90s”, it’s the teen movie. The decade was a kind of golden age for the »

"Anger Management" Is Only The Beginning Of What Sheen Needs

22 May 2014 10:57 AM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

Anger Management, the TV sitcom loosely based on the 2003 film, is best-known as Charlie Sheen’s first big TV venture after leaving Two and a Half Men. In the Volume 3 collection, Charlie Goodson (Charlie Sheen) is a former baseball player who after injuring himself in a fit of anger is now an unconventional group therapist. He leads a misfit therapy group, mentally torments his best friend Kate Wales (Selma Blair), and somehow finds time to sleep with a long line of supermodels.

I have only seen a few episodes of Two and a Half Men, enough to know that it isn’t a show that appeals to me. Anger Management made me wish that I was watching Two and a Half Men. Charlie Sheen can be a very funny actor, but Anger Management is an uncomfortable masturbatory project, a comedy that revolves around how amazing Charlie Sheen is. Rich baseball player? »

New DVD Blu-ray: 'Her,' 'Orange Is the New Black'

13 May 2014 8:45 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

Moviefone's Top DVD of the Week

"Her"

What's It About? A sad sack in high-waisted pants, Theodore spends his days writing love letters for other people. When he installs an intelligent operating system named Samantha (voiced by Scarlett Johansson), his life takes a turn for the better. Or does it?

Why We're In: A weird, sad, beautiful love story from the delicious brain of Spike Jonze? We're so far in.

Moviefone's Top Blu-ray of the Week

"Overlord" (Criterion)

What's It About? Cineastes and fans of war movies will dig this drama that uses real WWII footage in this tale of a young soldier headed to D Day. Sounds simple, but it's pretty heavy, and the unique use of real war footage adds to the narrative.

Why We're In: With Kubrick collaborator John Alcott as the cinematographer, a spiffy restoration, and loads of extras, "Overload" is a good addition to your collection. »

5 unsexy things we learned from the insane 'Nymphomaniac Vol. 2' trailer

19 March 2014 5:50 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

It was only a matter of time before Lars von Trier made a movie called "Nymphomaniac," and luckily for everyone who digs his brand of quirky, queasy strangeness the film has been split into two parts for xxxtra enjoyment. Now we've got the official trailer for "Vol. 2" (embedded below), in which Charlotte Gainsbourg screws her way through life with an assortment of creepy individuals including a male dominatrix played by the sweet-faced Jamie Bell, who has gone from charming dancing boy in "Billy Elliott" to charming whipping boy in a Lars von Trier sex movie in the span of 14 years. So what have we learned from this latest round of titillation? Well, quite a lot, actually. Below are five of the most important lessons, none of which, it should be mentioned, are in themselves particularly sexy. 1. Charlotte Gainsbourg still has the most terrifying underbite in the movies Ever since I »

'Cruel Intentions,' 15 years later: A definitive power list

5 March 2014 2:21 PM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

The messed-up machinations of bored, oversexed stepsiblings Kathryn Merteuil and Sebastian Valmont aren’t quite as shocking in 2014 as they were when Cruel Intentions was released on March 5, 1999. (Blame Gossip GirlPretty Little Liars, and a zillion other glitzy/scandalous imitators.)

That said, Cruel Intentions is still an enormously entertaining teen movie, even 15 years (gulp) after its initial release — thanks to an uncommonly sharp script, a killer soundtrack, and, most importantly, an impeccable cast, which featured future Oscar winners and future Sharknado stars alike. Well, one of each, but you get the picture. Whoever headed up this franchise had a »

Anger Management: Season Two Ratings

7 February 2014 10:35 PM, PST | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Will the ratings for Anger Management improve in season two or, will they fall even lower than they did in season one? We'll have to wait and see.

Revolving around an anger management therapist (Charlie Sheen) who has issues of his own, the cast also includes Selma Blair, Shawnee Smith, Daniela Bobadilla, Michael Arden, Noureen DeWulf, Derek Richardson, and Martin Sheen. The second season airs Thursday nights on FX.

The comedy's ratings are typically the best way to tell if Anger Management would be cancelled or renewed for another season however, 90 episodes were ordered for season two as part of a syndication deal. Those will last for awhile and may or may not be the end anyway.

These figures will be updated as the weeks progress so be sure to bookmark and return to this page: »

Thn’s Best Supernatural Action Films Of The Past Ten Years

30 January 2014 2:15 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Since the early 1980s supernatural monster films have utilized more and more action elements to captivate an adrenaline-hungry audience who might not be so entertained by the boogie man jumping out off the screen. This then increased in the 1990s with the popularity and success of films such as Army Of Darkness and Blade. However, since the start of the 2000s there has been a huge surge in supernatural action films that have taken classic movie monsters and combined them with over-the-top, extremely stylized fight sequences usually consisting of leather-clad women. I should probably state now that by ‘supernatural’ I’m referring to any films involving vampires, zombies or werewolves, because no matter how much pseudo-scientific nonsense is thrown at us we all know that those classic monster-baddies will forever belong in the supernatural category. Like them or not, this new sub-genre of films – from Underworld to Resident Evil – is here to stay, »
