Billie Joe Armstrong Just Wants To Rock In Ordinary World Trailer

16 September 2016 2:24 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

We all know Billie Joe Armstrong as the front man for the long-lived punk-pop band Green Day – now, we shall know him as a film actor. Armstrong makes his leading role debut in Ordinary World, with a new trailer hitting today introducing us to a very different Billie Joe.

For starters, he’s not a rock star any more; he just wants to be one again. Armstrong plays Perry, a former punk rocker having difficulty adjusting to life outside of punk. Unhappy at work and trying to manage a family with a distant wife (Selma Blair) and an adolescent daughter (Madisyn Shipman), Perry just wants one more day to cut loose and experience the excess of the punk lifestyle. So, on the advice and cold hard cash of his brother (Chris Messina), he does just that by getting a hotel room and tossing himself a blowout party for his 40th birthday. »

‘Ordinary World’ Trailer: Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Is a Failed Rock Star in First Leading Role

16 September 2016 11:22 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Billie Joe Armstrong may be a Grammy Award-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and the frontman of Green Day, one the biggest punk bands ever. But in “Ordinary World,” his first leading role, he’s nothing but a failed rock star missing his glory days.

Directed and written by Lee Kirk, Armstrong stars as Perry, a former punk rocker who is ten years into his band’s “indefinite hiatus” and is still struggling with adjusting to the real world. After his wife (Selma Blair) and his daughter (Madisyn Shipman) forget his 40th birthday, his brother (Chris Messina) takes pity and gives him money to throw the biggest birthday bash. Check out the latest trailer and poster below.

Coming Distractions: Billie Joe Armstrong plays a sad suburbanite in the Ordinary World trailer

16 September 2016 10:11 AM, PDT | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

You know what’s sad? When a dude used to be a cool white male rock star, and now he’s just a dad. That’s the premise of Ordinary World, the trailer for which was released today. In a bit of meta-casting, Green Day’s Bille Joe Armstrong stars as Perry Miller, a maudlin former band member depressed that he now works at a hardware store and has responsibilities like taking care of a child. In a Sixteen Candles-esque twist, his wife and daughter have forgotten his 40th birthday, so he gets a fancy hotel room, trashes it, and then, presumably, learns a lesson about how family is super important. Selma Blair plays the spouse that won’t have sex with him, and Fred Armisen is his rabble-rousing friend.

Green Day completists should note that there is also new music from Armstrong interspersed throughout the film. Ordinary World »

Get to Know Ryan Quincy, Creator of Disney Xd’s New Series ‘Future-Worm’

28 July 2016 6:05 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Ryan Quincy, creator of Disney Xd’s new animated series “Future-Worm!,” isn’t afraid to poke fun at himself in a featurette released exclusively to Variety ahead of the show’s Aug. 1 debut.

It’s in line with the wacky nature of “Future-Worm!,” which follows the adventures of a 12-year-old inventor who creates a time-machine lunch box and teams up with a buff worm (with titanium-enforced abs, no less) from the future to travel through time and space.

The series is based on the popular short-form series that appeared on Disney Xd and Disney Xd’s YouTube channel last year.

Each episode includes three segments — one 11 minutes long, one seven minutes long and one three minutes long — that will be distributed across all Disney Xd platforms, and the three-minute segments will usually premiere ahead of the current episode on Disney Xd’s YouTube channel each week.

The Adventures Of Pete And Pete: a 90s Nickelodeon classic

Seb Patrick Aug 23, 2016

We look back fondly at the innate weirdness of Nickelodeon's 90s show The Adventures Of Pete And Pete...

At some point in the early 1990s – I forget the exact year, but research tells me it must have been somewhere around late 1993 or early 1994 – something unbearably exciting happened in our suburb of Merseyside. The rumours went around the school playground in hushed whispers: “Have the cable vans been to your street yet?” Yes, cable TV was on its way to Crosby, meaning that for the first time, a world of viewing beyond the ordinary four terrestrial channels was available to homes without a whacking great ugly satellite dish glued to the outside.

Aside from the three major Sky titans – the football, the movies and The Simpsons – by far the biggest reason we all wanted to get cable was access to not one, not two, but three channels dedicated »
