Movie Review – The Do-Over (2016)

31 May 2016 8:00 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

The Do-Over, 2016.

Directed by Steven Brill.

Starring Adam Sandler, David SpadePaula Patton, Kathryn HahnLuis Guzman, Nick Swardson, Sean Astin, Matt Walsh, Catherine Bell and Michael Chiklis.

Synopsis:

The life of a bank manager is turned upside down when a friend from his past manipulates him into faking his own death and taking off on an adventure.

As grossly repugnant as a failed bout of colonic irrigation, Adam Sandler’s latest paradise set circle jerk The Do-Over finds the literal one-time funny man scooping the very bowels of comedy to no effect. Sandler’s retreat into the bosom of Netflix maybe signals a sudden, if unremarkable awareness of the universal critical disdain of his last 15 years of cinematic output. Yet that would be to give Sandler credit where credit’s not due. Most likely, akin to some vague Kafka-esque, moustache-twirling villain, he saw an opportunity to peddle his bilious »

How’s this for a 25-year high school reunion? In the new trailer for “The Do-Over,” Adam Sandler reunites with David Spade and persuades him to change his dreary life as a bank manager.

Spade is then awoken tied to a bed and discovers that Sandler has wiped the slate clean for a do-over by faking both their deaths. “I didn’t want you to freak out,” Sandler explains.

Paula Patton, who stars as Spade’s new love interest, asks him, “What was so terrible about your life that you wanted a whole new one?” He responds, “It kind of wasn’t my choice.”

Final Do-Over Trailer Has Sandler and Spade on the Run

23 May 2016 2:46 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Back in October 2014, comedian/actor Adam Sandler signed an unprecedented deal with Netflix, with the actor set to develop, star in and produce four movies for the streaming service. Today we have the final red band trailer for this comedy, which features plenty of R-rated language, so be sure to watch at your own risk. We also have six new photos to check out as well.

Adam Sandler And David Spade Call The Do-Over In Final Trailer For Netflix Actioner

23 May 2016 12:15 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

If the critical pummelling directed at The Ridiculous Six affected Netflix and Adam Sandler’s enthusiasm for original content, the pair aren’t showing it. In only a few days’ time, Sandler will be blasting onto the streaming service once again in the form of action-comedy The Do-Over, and today brings forth a decidedly Nsfw new trailer.

Acting as the second movie in the pair’s five-picture deal, The Do-Over is coming by way of director Steven Brill – an old Sandler cohort following Little Nicky and Mr. Deeds – reuniting the divisive actor with a whole host of familiar faces.

Key among those is David Spade, who will be rubbing shoulders with Adam Sandler as his newfound buddy in crime. Struggling to come to terms with the regular 9-t0-5, Sandler’s bank manager finds his life unceremoniously upended by the arrival of Spade, who convinces our lead to fake his »

21 March 2016 5:03 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Netflix is promising plenty of low-brow gags in the teaser trailer for “The Do-Over,” courtesy of Adam Sandler and David Spade.

The footage features plenty of gun play, car crashes, jumping off massive cliffs, young women in skimpy bikinis on the beach and repartee between the stars as Sandler and Spade decide to fake their own deaths.

“You sure about this, tough guy?” Sandler asks. “F— yeah,” a typically laid-back Spade replies.

The streaming service is releasing “The Do-Over” on May 27. Sandler and Spade starred in Netflix’s Western spoof “The Ridiculous 6” with Spade portraying General George Custer.

“Netflix got Ridiculous,” the trailer notes. “Now this Memorial Day, the madness continues.”

Besides “The Ridiculous Six,” Sandler and Spade also teamed on “Saturday Night Live” between 1992 and 1995 and on the “Grown-Ups” movies.

Adam Sandler’s Latest Netflix Movie The Do-Over Releases Bizarre First Trailer

21 March 2016 1:27 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Keeping the proverbial foot pressed firmly on the pedal, Netflix has unveiled the latest Adam Sandler-fronted actioner on its way to the streaming service, a mere three months after the much-derided Ridiculous 6.

Entitled The Do-Over, Sandler’s latest creative effort has been pegged for launch on May 27. Starring opposite David Spade is Sandler’s bumbling bank manager, who finds his life “turned upside down when a friend from his past manipulates him into faking his own death and taking off on an adventure.”

Sporting new identities with a fresh outlook on life to boot, what follows is a sleazy sizzle reel of low-key action shootouts and scantily-clad women. It’s by no means a trailer to win over the Sandler naysayers, particularly when you factor in the critical panning directed at Ridiculous 6, but we’ll reserve final judgement until we lay eyes on a full-length trailer.
