The MTV News correspondent recalls his 2006 encounter with the King of Pop in Bahrain.
Michael Jackson and Tim Kash in Bahrain in 2006

The first album I ever borrowed (stole!) from my dad was Michael Jackson's Off the Wall. It was a cassette tape with that great picture of a young Michael Jackson dressed in a black tux, with big hair and an even bigger smile, leaning up against the brick wall.
In 1988, my first concert was when Michael Jackson at London's Wembley Stadium during his Bad tour. It was immense. He was in his prime and a spectacular performer in every sense of the word.
But the first time I actually met Michael Jackson was in 2006. I was invited to Bahrain to take part in one of the preliminary car races for the Formula One Grand Prix. Our gracious host was Crown Prince Sheikh Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa,

As if reviving a failed reality show isn't hard enough, those involved with NBC's new version of I'm Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here now have something unexpected to deal with.
The peacock network announced in April that they were bringing back I'm Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here for a limited run. The show has been running in the UK for years but a Us version didn't find much success on ABC in 2003. Contestants for this version include D-list celebrities like Melissa Rivers, Alana Stewart, Nikki Schieler Ziering, Robin Leach, Bruce Jenner, Downtown Julie Brown, Maria Conchita Alonso, Tyson Beckford, and John Melendez.
NBC's version is scheduled to air four days a week, from June 1st until the 15th. The newest batch of "celebrities" include Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt (The Hills), NBA personality John Salley, Janice Dickinson (America's Next Top Model), Sanjaya Malakar (American Idol), Stephen Baldwin (Celebrity Apprentice

While African-American men only nabbed 4% of the slots on the Hot 100 list, they pretty much ruled the roost when it came to this category. Indeed, it was nearly a Top 10 sweep with only Wilson Cruz and Mario López sneaking in at the end. As for Asians, B.D. Wong landed at #14 and Daniel Dae Kim came in at #18 while Sendhil Ramamurthy pretty much carried the torch for Indian representation by placing #12. The next highest-ranking man of Indian descent was British native Dev Patel, who made quite an impact in Slumdog Millionaire (2008). Alas, the success of that movie only propelled Dev to #28.
After Cruz and López, the next highest ranking men of Hispanic descent were Gael García Bernal and Guillermo Díaz at #s 20 and 21, respectively. Pop singer Ricky Martin clocked in at #26 followed by soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo at #40.
With any luck, the election of Barack Obama will remind all of us

It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it. Because the AfterElton Hot 100 has a limited number of winners (I think it's 100) there are going to be some hunks that don't make the cut.
We're not saying these men don't deserve to be on the list, but they just didn't garner enough votes this time. Take a look if you want to be shocked, and possibly outraged, but for heaven's sake ... don't kill the messenger!
Ryan Kwanten. This one hurts. The poor guy gets naked every week for your enjoyment and you can't reward him with a spot on the list? For shame!
Shia Labeouf. How many summer blockbusters does he have to star in to get some recognition?
Daniel Radcliffe. After all the jokes about showing his wizard wand, he still couldn't get enough votes?
Tyson Beckford. Anyone who can survive this current disastrous season of Make Me A Supermodel

On Friday (4-24-09) NBC revealed their cast for their latest installment of "I'm a Celebrity. Get Me Out of Here" reality show. The last time I heard of this show was way back in 2003 which featured Howard Stern's "Stuttering John" at the time, old school MTV VJ "Down Town Julie Brown, Model Tyson Beckford, and a couple others that don't come to memory at the moment. Apparently though, there's been some international versions going on as if anyone over here, cared. I know I sure don't

For the second year in a row, Kathy Griffin hosts her own kudos ceremony tonight -- "The A-List Awards" on Bravo (10 p.m. Edt/Pdt). How much does she adore awards, you wonder? In the past, Kathy Griffin has hauled her two Emmys for best reality program (2007, 2008) onto Craig Ferguson's TV chat show, confessing, "I even take them to the In-n-Out Burger." When she won again last year, she asked reporters backstage, "'Is it bad to say that I love this Emmy more than my family?" The A-List Awards celebrate the best in food, fashion, beauty, design and pop culture and have traditional categories like best TV show (nominees include "Gossip Girl, "Mad Men" and "30 Rock"). It also features wacky contests like best abs (Christian Bale, Tyson Beckford, David Beckham, Hugh Jackman and Matthew McConaughey compete) and best "Kate with the mostest" (Cate Blanchett, Katie Holmes, Katy Perry, Kate Winslet

All of a sudden we're hearing a whole lot from model Tyson Beckford. First he spoke out about the Chris Brown/Rihanna situation (and gave his brilliant insights about how Chris Brown is more down than he's letting on), and now he's talking smack about Lindsay Lohan's decision to model. Be prepared for a boring feud between Tyson and Lindsay to ensue - we can feel it coming. In a new interview with Us Weekly, Tyson Beckford said of Lohan, "She has the partying part down right. But I don't think she's got the focus. I mean, it requires a lot of focus and a lot of people think they can do it, but they really find that it's a lot harder. Ask any ...

Lindsay Lohan lacks the focus to be a model, according to male runway star Tyson Beckford.
After a series of spreads for top publications - including a nude shoot for New York magazine - the actress recently revealed she is on the lookout for more modelling work.
But Beckford insists she'll never make it as a catwalk queen.
He tells Usmagazine.com, "She has the partying part down right. But I don't think she’s got the focus. I mean, it requires a lot of focus and a lot of people think they can do it, but they really find that it's a lot harder.
"Ask anyone - it's a lot harder than it looks. I guess that's why they call us supermodels - we make it look easy. But it’s not as easy as it looks, so I wish her all the best."

Tyson Beckford just doesn’t think Lindsay Lohan has what it takes to be a model. And he’s not afraid to let her know! Lindsay recently opened up to Nylon magazine, and told them she wanted to model more, and act less. "Make Me a Supermodel" on Bravo TV attempts to make the contestants a set of freaky models. The March 25 episode will have a photo shoot where models are required to dress up and model zombies from Michael Jackson's "Thriller". The 13 remaining contestants are literally freaked out.
Also seen in the clips posted below, Kerryn continues to prep Colin to lose his "v-card" by grabbing his junk as the remaining contestants grow closer in the apartment. The second clip gives the look on the make-up session for the zombie shoot.
And when Tyson Beckford tells them to pack a small bag to bring to the shoot, the models speculate: where will the winner get to travel and what is the prize? The host himself is heading to London and the models are allowed on their own field trip.

A U.S. reality TV stylist has revealed her 10-year-old son's father is model/actor Tyson Beckford.
April Roomer has become a hit on TV show Candy Girls and her sudden fame has brought questions about her son, Jordan.
The stylist has revealed her kid is the product of a romance with Beckford.
She tells America's In Touch magazine, "I’ve never talked about Tyson... (He's just) daddy, that’s Tyson, not supermodel Tyson."
Roomer, who has styled stars like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, reveals she met Beckford when she was working as a waitress in a Los Angeles restaurant, and the pair began a torrid romance.
She credits Beckford for standing by her when she discovered she was pregnant with his son, and admits neither of them wanted to wed.
She adds, "We were on and off for years after Jordan was born. Being on different coasts and so busy with our careers, the timing wasn’t right... Maybe later, down the line, we’ll get it together and figure it out.
"Tyson’s been very supportive of my career. We’re still friends and good parents, which is most important."

Male supermodel Tyson Beckford has slammed the media for using celebrities in high fashion campaigns instead of models - insisting actors aren't beautiful enough to naturally look good in glossy print.
The Make Me A Supermodel host isn't impressed with the current trend for movie and TV stars to land advertising deals or grace the covers of glossy magazines.
But the hunk believes the fashion industry will come full circle - when they get sick of retouching the images of less-than-perfect stars.
He says, "You have to do a lot of tweaking and airbrushing to get the same from a celebrity that you would get from a model. A lot of celebrities - I'm gonna tell you right now - they're not 5'11"; they're not a size two to fit into these designer dresses, but the designers want exposure so they're willing to make the specific dress for that actor or actress to get them to look good on the cover."
"It'll all come back around. One day some designer will wake up and say, 'You know what? I don't want to use Gwyneth Paltrow. I want to use Adriana Lima, I want to use Gisele (Bundchen), I want to go back to the high fashion.' I think slowly but surely you'll see that start happening."

In the networks' fervor to find new reality shows to put on the air, concepts are frequently "borrowed" from the UK airwaves. Imports like American Idol and Dancing With The Stars have become very popular here in the states and NBC execs are hoping that they'll get lucky.
In I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!, a group of celebrities live in a distant jungle together with few comforts of home. They compete in various challenges with the ultimate winner earning a big cash prize for their charity of choice.

John Lehr hosted the episodes and Judd won the grand prize to benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

It's The Best.Gay.Week.Ever! But In Designer Clothes!
Oh, the irony of having me write a fashion-themed Bgwe! Why so ironic? How about because it's 5 Pm and I'm currently wearing Target slippers, Target lounge pants and a ratty sweathshirt. Did I mention these are my good clothes?
Not fair! I actually shower every single day! Mostly...
Why the sudden interest in fashion? Well, there was Fashion Week having taken place last week in New York and the Oscars in L.A. on Sunday, but I was really inspired by last week's episode of Ugly Betty which ended with Betty finally "getting" that fashion isn't just about expensive clothes but is actually "art" and about taking what's on the inside emotionally, spiritually, etc. and putting it on the outside.
I guess she's feeling wing-y on the inside?
I found that an interesting way to look at fashion and thusly
