Wrapping up its most watched season in seven years, The CW Network presented its 2015-16 broadcast schedule today to advertisers, affiliates and national media at New York City Center in New York City. The indie-pop band Of Monsters and Men kicked off the presentation with a live performance of their latest single "Crystals," and their international hit song "Little Talks." Here's what CW's Mark Pedowitz had to say in a statement.
"This has been a terrific season for The CW, and is a result of a strategy we set in motion a few years ago to broaden out and grow our audience. We had our most watched season, and our highest-rated season among men, in seven years. We launched The CW's most watched series ever with The Flash, and with The Flash and Jane the Virgin, we received more critical acclaim than ever before. The CW is heading into »
We know, you've watched a lot of trailers this week — but don't stop now! The CW had its upfront today, and while it's still the kid sibling to the big four, the glorious success of Jane the Virgin should at least make you curious. The CW only green-lit three new shows for its fall slate, but we have to say: They're a good-looking bunch. There's the one you might expect: DC's Legends of Tomorrow, as part of its ever-expanding superhero universe; a Contagion-like thriller called Containment; and an hour-long musical Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, directed by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer). On to our snappy judgments:DC's Legends of Tomorrow Aren't our superhero shows doing so well? Let's make this universe so big that the CW is made of just DC superheroes and a cyborg Tyra Banks hosting America's Next Top Model, because let's face it, that show will live on forever. »

Launching its new season again in October, the CW will kick off the week with lighter fare, boosting freshman Golden Globe-winning hit “Jane the Virgin” with a Monday night comedy block, paired with comedy “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” — the only new series on the fall schedule.
The network is also giving showrunner Julie Plec the Shonda Rhimes treatment with a Thursday night back-to-back schedule of “The Vampire Diaries,” followed by Season 3 of her spinoff “The Originals,” which aired Mondays last season.
“It’s going to be such more focused on the brothers, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley),” CW prez Mark Pedowitz said on a Thursday morning press call of the new season of “Tvd,” which will hit reset without star Nina Dobrev, who’s exiting the series tonight, after six seasons. »

Hostess with the mostess! Tyra Banks brought the fierce as host of the 2015 Daytime Emmy Awards on Sunday night -- and kept things interesting with her multiple wardrobe changes. First, the "America's Next Top Model" host rocked her short new pixie cut on the red carpet. The supermodel chopped and highlighted her hair in preparation for Cycle 22 of her hit competition show a month ago -- but this is the first major event she's attended with the new 'do. She went with a sleek look on the arrivals line, sporting a black jumpsuit with sheer panels that revealed a hint of cleavage. But it was during the show that her outfit choices got even more daring. The 41-year-old continued the see-through theme in a "dress" consisting of a black bodysuit with sheer sleeves and a skirt that revealed a whole lotta leg. The daring choice was embellished with beading and safety pins on the side. »

Ferguson took home the game show host win for his syndicated “Celebrity Name Game” series. When asked what fuels his success, his self-deprecating side took over: “I think I’m a panicky person that seeks approval,” Ferguson said.
He added that he was grateful for the award, which he took as a vote of confidence in his future after signing off from CBS’ “Late Late Show” in December. “There comes a point where you have to move on and do something else, and that’s why I’m so excited about getting this,” he said. “It makes me feel encouraged.
