In The Way We Wore: Black Style Then, designer and professional photographer Michael McCollum provides a fashion archive of African Americans – the famous and the not so famous – from the 1940s through to today.
Click here to see more photos from the book!
Lesser known African Americans in the photo book include cosmetic line owner Arlene Hawkins (below), who posed leaning against a car in a fur-trimmed coat in 1960 New York City.
Chonicling the decades, McCollum shows the profound influence that African Americans had in shaping the trends of the times. From bell-bottoms and chucky shoes to couture gowns and Sunday bests, the fashions tell a story of a culture and a country.

Previously on Glee, Rachel landed the role of Fannie Brice in the Broadway revival of Funny Girl; Santana landed a Yeast-i-Stat commercial (“I like yeast in my bagel, but not in my muffin.”), Elliot Starchild landed a spot in Kurt‘s band, Sam landed a meeting with Tyra Banks (“My junk is as big as a car.”), Blaine landed himself a gay fiance, and bisexual Santa Claus robbed Bushwick blind.
New York, New York
It’s a new day in Times Square, but it’s the same old thing in the Spotlight Diner, where a tourist asks Santana in broken Spanish to please take her steaming eggs back to the kitchen and have them cooked even hotter to avoid salmonella poisoning. She is truly bamboozled when Santana explains that she can speak English on account of she’s from Ohio. The tourist had no idea there were Mexicans in Ohio. »

Usually, movie studios like to the be the ones to spill the details about the movies they're making, but when you're a big shot like supermodel turned mogul Tyra Banks, you can pretty much do whatever you like. While promoting a fitness campaign, Banks spilled that Disney is making a sequel to Life Size. The 2000 movie was never a huge hit but over the years (and thanks to Disney Channel running it from time to time), the film about a girl (played by a young Lindsay Lohan) who tries using a magic spell to bring her recently deceased mom back to life, but instead makes her Barbie doll real (and, as you can guess, "life size").
Banks told Digital Spy that the Life Size sequel is happening and that she just had a meeting to go over the script and that it, "will be very, very different...very modern, a very modern take. »
