The third teaser trailer for Universal's Despicable Me has just hit the world wide wonderous web, but it's not the most impressive trailer I've seen. Blu-Ray Review: ‘G-Force’ Offers Jerry Bruckheimer Lobotomy For Kids

21 December 2009 9:10 AM, PST | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – Here’s one of the year’s lamest excuses for children’s entertainment. Like “Shorts” and “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs,” it assumes that young minds crave little more than frantic and shrill zaniness. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer views kids in the same way he views adults: as human guinea pigs in need of being dumbed down.

Like his equally abysmal “Kangaroo Jack,” “G-Force” is an adult action comedy that just happens to feature animated characters. In its theatrical format, the film pushed the boundaries of 3D effects, culminating in an experience as headache-inducing and empty headed as James Cameron’s “Avatar.” Its 2D presentation on Blu-ray is vastly preferable, though the film still amounts to little more than a cynical exercise in special effects technology, complete with awful dialogue, uninspired animation and a script assembled out of the most audience-insulting cliches.

Blu-Ray Rating: 1.5/5.0

West Hollywood, California — If not for "Arrested Development," it's hard to imagine there ever would have been a "Juno," a "Superbad" or the unlikely A-list Hollywood star that is Michael Cera. It seems only appropriate, then, that the 21-year-old's New Year's resolution is to finally return to the beloved Bluth family.

"I think sometime next year, hopefully, we'll be shooting," Cera revealed to MTV News on Thursday afternoon (December 17), giving renewed hope to the die-hard fans who've been pining for "Arrested Development: The Movie" since the groundbreaking comedy was yanked off the air. "I hope [we'll shoot in 2010]. I think that's realistic."

On January 8, Cera will release the endearingly quirky teen flick "Youth in Revolt," but after that, the in-demand star's schedule is wide open. »

Video Game Review: Truly Awful ‘Rogue Warrior’ Fails on Every Level

16 December 2009 9:44 AM, PST | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – We’ve become spoiled by the next generation of gaming. Most high-profile games have gone through enough research and development during their production and are made by such experienced developers that they rarely come out of the industry machine with little to no redeeming value at all. Sure, there are disappointments, but you don’t see as many complete bombs in the gaming world as you do in film, music, or TV. The exception to the rule is the truly awful “Rogue Warrior”.

Video Game Rating: 1.0/5.0

Challenging the abysmal “Eat Lead” and the worst movie tie-in of the year in “Terminator: Salvation” for the title of worst major game of 2009, “Rogue Warrior” is a complete failure on every level. Where do we begin? The script would be laughably bad if it wasn’t just cringe-inducing, the enemy A.I. is reminiscent of the original Playstation, the graphics are inexcusable, »

Last Minute Christmas Present Recommendations!

Ho Ho Ho! It’s that time of the year for giving and receiving and if your having trouble finding the perfect gift for your loved one then i will hopefully mention something that will help fill that stocking in time for 25th December.

I’m going to run down my top Blu-Ray films, Top DVD’s, Top TV Boxsets and Top anything else that I think are must haves this year.

We’ve added links to Zavvi.com who are currently offering free delivering on everything so make sure you check them out.

Blu-ray and DVD Films

I’ll start with Blu-Ray/DVD films. Blu-Rays have reduced in price incredibly in the run up to Christmas and if you shop around then you will find all sort of deals like 2-4-1’s or 2 for a nice low price, and it’s still not to late to get them in time for Christmas. »

G-force Blu-ray Review

16 December 2009 5:35 AM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Whatever can be said of Jerry Bruckheimer, and at this point the white hot hate for his style of Bruckheimer/Simpson movies has to have subsided some (he’s no longer making Top Gun-Style borderline propaganda now that Michael Bay’s moved on), there is no doubt of one thing: dude has an eye for talent. Look at G-Force, and the cast: Tracy Morgan, Zach Galifianakis, Sam Rockwell, Steve Buscemi, Nicholas Cage, Will Arnett, Penelope Cruz, and Bill Nighy. That’s a cast you’d want in most anything. My review of G-Force after the jump.

Morgan, Rockwell, and Cruz play the lead guinea pigs, who through some training by Galifianakis are an elite squadron of spies. They infiltrate (with the help of their mole, voiced by Cage) Leonard Saber’s (Nighy) home and are on the lookout for some fiendish terrorist plot, but can’t find it, which »

The Notable Films of 2010: Part Two

Case 39

Opens: January 1st 2010

Cast: Renée Zellweger, Jodelle Ferland, Ian McShane, Bradley Cooper, Kerry O'Malley

Director: Christian Alvart

Summary: A family services social worker thinks she has seen it all until she meets her newest, most mysterious case - a troubled 10-year old girl whose parents try to kill her. The social worker decides to take her in herself until the right foster family comes along.

Analysis: Despite the presence of promising German director Christian Alvart ("Pandorum"), 'Case' has sat on a shelf since late 2006 and is finally being quietly shuffled out this year for one very good reason - it stinks. Having opened in Australia a few months back, reviewers utterly savaged the film as both incredibly dumb and utterly ludicrous. Lead star Renee Zellweger also scored personal criticism to a level rarely seen in film reviews outside of comments about Nicole Kidman's 'more alien than the »
