If the weather doesn’t hold up for you, Memorial Day weekend won’t be spent grilling on the beach. But here’s the good news: There are plenty of TV marathons and specials to be found — plus, you’re being patriotic, in a way, by being an all-American couch potato. In addition to our What to Watch column (posting Sunday, and going weekly for the summer), here are some programs to keep on your radar.

The CW Picks Up Carrie Diaries, Arrow, Cult, First Cut and Beauty and the Beast
The CW has picked up five new series for the 2012-2013 season, marking a more-than-normal order size for the smaller network. The Sex and the City prequel The Carrie Diaries will join superhero drama Arrow, thriller Cult, medical drama First Cut and the updated Beauty and the Beast.
These five new shows join veteran series Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries and 90210 on the schedule for next season. America's Next Top Model was also given a renewal for the fall. Gossip Girl is generally considered a safe bet for a shorter season next year, but the fate of freshman series The Secret Circle, Hart of Dixie and Ringer are currently unknown.
Updated: Nikita was just renewed for season 3.
Here's what we know about the new shows:

You could call these cases of sibling rivalry being played out on the big screen a real family affair, along the lines of "Mom always liked you best."
We've come up with a list of top actors who have competing brothers or sisters. Vote on your favorites of each brother-brother, brother-sister or sister-sister pairing -- and may the best siblings win.

The Young and the Restless is shaking things up.
Eileen Davidson, who has played Ashley Abbott on and off since 1986, has been let go by the CBS soap.
“Last week I lost my childcare. This week I lost my job!” the actress tweeted Wednesday morning. “It all works out because I don’t need a babysitter if I’m not working. #beingpositive”
Meanwhile, EW.com reports that Brett Butler (Grace Under Fire) will guest-star this June in two episodes as a bound-to-be nosy neighbor of Doug Davidson’s Paul.

Sometimes, dreams do come true, no matter how ridiculous, impossible or—dare we say it—odd they seem. Just ask Cindy and Jim Green, who quite possibly dreamed their 10-year-old son into existence.
Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton star in "The Odd life of Timothy Green" as two parents struggling to have a child. One night, they imagine what their son would be like, writing down his attributes and quirks on a sheet of paper and burying it in their backyard. What began as a way to vent frustration becomes something rather miraculous, when a 10-year-old boy named Timothy (Cj Adams) arrives on their doorstep to claim the Greens as his own.
We have a feeling that the less revealed about "Odd Life," the better. So in the spirit of pictures being worth a thousand words, enjoy this exclusive still from the Disney fantasy drama, part of our ongoing Summer Movie Preview week. »

The new trailer for Rock of Ages got us thinking about memorable movie rock stars. Summer can't come fast enough after getting a sneak peek at True Blood season five. To celebrate his 47th birthday, we took a trip down memory lane with 47 hot pictures of Robert Downey Jr. We're still talking about these moments from the Game of Thrones season premiere.
