The remaining eight contestants battle it out for a place in The Voice final. Join me from 6.30pm as we find out which singers will make it through
Good evening, and welcome to The Voice semi-final liveblog. This is where things get serious - for the first time this series, all the acts from all the coaches will take their turn to sing live on stage. Which of these plucky young upstarts will make it through to bask in the glory of next week's big final? Well, Jaz, Ruth, Becky and Bo, obviously. But don't let that put you off.
There are other questions to be answered tonight. Questions like "How many songs will Jessie J pull to standstill this week?", "Will Tom Jones ever be able to think up a word that rhymes with 'cow'?" and "How tall will Holly Willoughby be this week? Eight feet? Nine?". Hopefully we'll »

We love TV, but that doesn't mean we love everyone on TV. Some of our favorite shows have a truly horrible character or two. We suffer them in pseudo-silence (yes, there's the random Twitter rant here and there), but the recent house-cleaning at love-to-hate-watch-it "Smash" made us realize: If we don't complain, how can these bad characters ever get better?
So we've rounded up a list of the 21 worst characters on television today. Whether it's a bad accent (ahem, Declan from "Revenge"), a bad attitude (come on, Christina Aguilera, you make too much money to scowl through "The Voice") or just poorly written characters that we're sure the offending actors have done their best with (we don't want to hate Krysten Ritter's Chloe on "Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23" ... but we do), we didn't pull any punches when putting together this list. We even have one more suggestion for "Smash's" firing to-do list. »

Apart from her country music career, Julianne Hough has built a reputation for showing up in musical films lately, including “Burlesque” with Christina Aguilera and the “Footloose” remake. Of course, the convincing powers of co-starring in a flick with Tom Cruise didn’t hurt to say “yes” to one more, now with cinematic adaptation of Broadway show “Rock of Ages.” Hough will hit the stage, the Sunset Strip and the stripper pole for her role as Sherrie in the film, due in theaters June 15, with other co-stars like Paul Giamatti, Diego Boneta, Alec Baldwin and Catherine Zeta-Jones. But then again, not »

For the final salvo in what’s arguably been the deepest, most evenly matched field in American Idol history, Tuesday night’s Season 11 finale came up surprisingly light in the competitive fireworks department.
Maybe the Top 2 — Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips — were still heeding last week’s instructions from their fallen comrade Joshua Ledet: “No! More! Drama!” Or perhaps it was just the incongruousness of the matchup, which was akin to making a choice between a stunning courture evening gown and a perfectly battered old t-shirt. (“But what’s the occasion?” you might’ve asked.)

A version of this story originally appeared in the Rambling Reporter column of the June 1 issue of The Hollywood Reporter. It’s rare for a behind-the-scenes force to nab a lead role in front of the camera, but A-list image maker Matthew Rolston — who has worked with everyone from Madonna and Janet Jackson to Mary J. Blige — plans to star in a Pygmalion-esque reality series showcasing his talents as a creative director to three yet-to-be-announced “name” female music performers looking to reposition their brands. Baz Luhrmann's musical choices for the period clip are surprising -- but also spot-on.
Leonardo DiCaprio in "The Great Gatsby"

The new trailer for Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby" hit the Web on Tuesday night. And while the first look has already generated plenty of excitement, there's more than a bit of curiosity, too, since the clip opens to lavish 1920s New York scenes set to ... Jay-z?
As Jay and Kanye's Watch the Throne track "No Church in the Wild" plays in the background, a Tobey Maguire voiceover explains that "the restlessness approached ... hysteria."
Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Hov? Ok, we're in. In fact, this kind of thing is nothing new for Luhrmann, whose penchant for setting period flicks to modern music has become one of his calling cards. In 1996's "Romeo + Juliet," Romeo (also DiCaprio) toted a pistol to the sound of Radiohead, »

When NBC’s rival singing competition The Voice returned in February, I felt like I was the only Idol fan left in America. Media outlets championed NBC’s chair-spinning competition, with its flashy format — an audition style that’s admittedly superior to Idol’s — and sass-spewing judges, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton. “The Voice is more relevant, more meaningful, more compelling and more entertaining right now,” said Alex Strachan of the Montreal Gazette. “After a decade, we no longer believe in the Idol factory,” wrote EW’s Mark Harris. Those barbs stung me (an American Idol junkie) personally »

Looks as if Kelly Osbourne is ready for summer! The E! "Fashion Police" host was photographed walking hand-in-hand with her new boyfriend, Matthew Mosshart, in West Hollywood on Monday afternoon. Wearing her lilac-colored hair down and big shades, Osbourne looks strikingly like father Ozzy Osbourne in this photograph (though Mosshart, a chef and brother of The Kills singer Alison Mosshart, is giving her some competition).
Osbourne, 27, recently made news when she all but apologized for calling "The Voice" judge Christina Aguilera fat in a column she wrote for the May issue of "Glamour" magazine. "[Christina Aguilera] called me fat for years … One night on 'Fashion Police' I said, 'F*** you. Now you're fat too.'"
Later, Osbourne whistled a different tune about Aguilera, telling Andy Cohen on "Watch What Happens Live" on April 29: "I think she's looking way better right now, she's got a great voice and she's got a beautiful son. »

Model Bar Refaeli has earned the top spot on Maxim’s Hot 100 list for 2012, the first list in which readers’ votes helped determine the list. Though the Israeli beauty is a mainstay on the list, the top spot usually goes to ladies with a much higher profile in music or film — pop stars like Katy Perry and Christina Aguilera, actresses like Olivia Wilde, and cross-over model-actresses like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who was last year’s #1. (Model Marissa Miller was the one previous exception.) The 27-year-old has dipped her toe in the acting pool, appearing in the psychological thriller Session last year, and according to USA Today, she’s filming a dark comedy that’s in Hebrew and French.
The rest of the top 10 are hardly surprising: Olivia Munn, Mila Kunis, Katy Perry, Olivia Wilde, Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, Megan Fox, Malin Akerman and Adrianne Palicki. But perhaps most notable on the list, »

If crazy Britney and troubled Demi Lovato don't deserve to be on the X Factor panel, who does? Watch me moan about it.
I started on this difficult topic last week, but Britney Spears and Demi Lovato aren't the first people I'd ask to judge anything. Literally anything. And because the institution of reality television is sacred, it pains me that Britney and Demi have taken up two valuable spots as judges on Simon Cowell's enormous freakshow X Factor. Will Britney burn the whole place down on day one? Will Demi do it and blame it on Britney? (Clever.) The possibilities for despair are endless. The question remains: If these two are wrong for the job, then who's right?
In this week's Weeklings, I tear apart all the other candidates for Simon Cowell's co-anchors. This means Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Sheryl Crow, Paula Abdul, Nelly Furtado, and »
