Imagine you're holding a photo album full of cherished childhood memories: you riding your first bike, building a sandcastle on a windy beach, baking cakes with your nan. Now imagine a movie exec going at your album with a copy of Empire magazine and a Stanley knife until your BMX has become a podracer, it's Matthew Broderick with the bucket and spade, and Jaden Smith seems to be making a victoria sponge with Nicole Kidman in a CGI version of your nan's kitchen. Not quite the same, is it?
Once you've seen those versions, it's difficult not to forget them. Whenever you think back to the real memories, the other ones are still lurking around, tainting them. »
The Rocky Horror Picture Show experience elicits a strong reaction from most audience members. If you love it, you will always love it, transported for a few hours to an alternate universe where any and all kinks, quirks, and jerks are not only welcome, they’re celebrated. Thirty plus years after its initial and disappointing release, theaters across the country still play this film at midnight. Fans still don their best Brad, Janet, or Dr. Frank n Furter, toast and rice in tow to sing and shout along with the film. New generations of teenagers and college students discover Rocky every year, with live simultaneous stage/film productions being put on all over the world. If you hate it, you probably won’t ever come to appreciate it, confused why anyone would go so bat shit crazy over this bizarre movie.

The star-studded cast took to the stage at the city's Wiltern Theatre to stage a production of the classic musical in aid of Paul Newman's Painted Turtle charity.
Nip/Tuck's Julian McMahon thrilled fans by donning a corset and suspenders to play Dr. Frank-n-Furter, while Glee stars Michele and Morrison took on the roles of stranded lovers Janet Weiss and Brad Majors.
Speaking before the event, producer Lou Adler, who worked on the original film, admitted McMahon wasn't his first choice to play Frank-n-Furter - he wanted Cher to tackle the role.
He says, "I've always envisioned Cher as Frank-n-Furter. But she's working in Las Vegas." »

The biggest being Predators, followed up by the remake of the cult classic Night of the Demons, a sequel to Mirrors, and Anniversary editions for Rocky Horror Picture Show and Psycho. Add to that a slew of indie and classic horror and there is a lot to choose from.

Ryan Murphy is being lined up to direct the 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' remake. The 'Glee' creator has recently put the finishing touches to a 'Rocky Horror' themed episode of the hit TV show and now sources say he has been approached by Fox 2000 producers Peter Chernin and Lou Adler to direct a remake of the 1975 camp musical, Deadline.com reports. The original film - a comedy-horror musical about a newly engaged couple who discover a group of strange and outlandish people holding an Annual Transylvanian Convention when their car breaks down in an isolated area - grossed more than $100 .. »
Glee creator Ryan Murphy tapped the iconic/iconoclastic 1975 musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show for an upcoming episode, but the manic entertainment may be too much to contain in your puny television set. According to Deadline, Fox 2000 is courting Murphy to direct a Rocky Horror remake, with Peter Chernin (Rise of the Apes) and Lou Adler (the original Rocky Horror) producing.
Murphy hasn’t signed yet, but he should have plenty of leverage. Glee is the highest-rated scripted show on the air (trailing only football), and he’s coming off this summer’s profitable Julia Roberts starrer Eat, Pray, Love. He should be a good match for the material, in the sense that both Glee and Rocky Horror are kitchen-sink musicals with a twisted sense of humor.

The number of home video releases on October 19th is not as abundant as in recent weeks, and fewer re-released titles means those that are available are much more special. In this batch one Adrien Brody flick competes with another, and at least two independent horror titles are making a splash. Two beloved classic films return in Blu-ray where one is supplemented by a documentary treatment of it.
Also, don't forget to strum & drum out with some tunes from Rob Zombie on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Finally, foreign horror gives us an over-the-top Japanese gorefest, a British zombie flick where the $70 budget was spent on tea and biscuits for the zombies, and Norwegian black metal.

There are some rock'n'roll movies, like Floyd Mutrux's American Hot Wax and Bob Zemeckis's I Wanna Hold Your Hand, that manage to convey the palpable sense – palpable, that is, to a hormone-wracked teenager – that rock'n'roll can literally save your life. A particularly wrenching scene in the former has its lead character, a teenage Brill Building songwriter, sobbing with gratitude backstage at one of DJ Alan Freed's early Moondog Matinee rock'n'roll revues in 1955, as she gratefully acknowledges that this music came along for her at exactly the right moment in her life, and that said life would be empty and pointless for her without it. That scene always destroys me.

Horror remakes are definitely the hot new trend in Hollywood and I had no idea just how many remakes were being planned until I sat down and drew up a list of as many as I could find. I stopped at 7 pages and needless to say it seems that just about every movie you can imagine is getting a remake-prequel or reboot into 3D.
Here is a pretty complete list of upcoming horror remakes as of today in alphabetical order. Note: There are a few on this list that are only in the early phases of discussion and in some cases I included franchise reboots as well.
13 Tzameti: Starting the list off 13 Tzameti is more thriller then horror but still worthy of making the list. The film which started filming in New York awhile back will star Mickey Rourke and Jason Statham. The original film is a tale of Russian roulette with gruesome outcomes. »
