‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ Cast Promises to Pay Homage to Original, Raves About Laverne Cox

More than four decades after the original movie hit theaters, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” is coming back — to TV.

The cast of Fox’s remake — which includes “Rocky Horror” vet Tim Curry as the narrator this time around — joined together on Monday at the Television Critics Association press tour at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif., to discuss paying homage to the original.

“Be true to the original, but make it contemporary” is the mantra set by executive producer Lou Adler.

The cast all agreed that their new “Rocky Horror Picture Show” is not a direct remake of the original, but rather a celebration of the iconic flick.

Prison Break” and “24: Legacy” will make their revamped Comic-Con debuts this summer.

The two hotly-anticipated series are part of 20th Century Fox Television’s lineup at the annual summer mega-fest. The studio announced their entire Comic-Con programming slate on Monday, which includes events for 13 shows.

Last year, Fox announced that it was bringing a cult classic back to life with The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which is being re-imagined for a new audience. Last week, we got our first look at the new Dr. Frank-n-Furter, played by Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox. Today we have our first look at footage from the remake with a trailer, which debuted shortly after Fox's upfront presentation in New York City. As you can see, a lot has changed with this version, but a lot has also stayed the same.

Fox has cast Ivy Levan in its “Rocky Horror Picture Show” live musical. She’ll play Usherette, who bookends the show with performances. Grammy Award nominee Christina Milian has joined the cast of Fox's The Rocky Horror Picture Show as Magenta. Milian will play the castle's compliant maid, who, along with her brother, Riff Raff, plots a secret plan to return to their native planet of Transsexual. Reeve Carney (Penny Dreadful) has already been cast has Riff Raff.
