Eurotrash, as it happened

17 June 2016 1:59 PM, PDT | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

Antoine de Caunes and Jean Paul Gaultier were back with a sexy Brexit special of their hit 90s show. Here’s what went down

9.59pm BST

In true Eurotrash fashion, the episode closes with a bad pop song performed by a European woman in barely any clothes. And now it’s finished. Well, that existed. Bye.

9.58pm BST

Inspired, Gautier and de Caunes are replicating the stunt by wearing boxes over their penises and letting the artist grab at them. I’m convinced. We should remain in Europe.

9.56pm BST

Now to Germany, where a Swiss performance artist makes a point about female sexual agency by wearing a box over her breasts and asking people to reach inside and touch them. But this is Eurotrash, so her sincere explanation is accompanied by the sound of a honking bicycle horn. And now I’m onboard again.

Their racy show defined 90s post-pub TV. Now, Antoine de Caunes and Jean Paul Gaultier return for a one-off Brexit special

Antoine de Caunes is a novelist, actor, film director and television presenter. His greatest talent, however, may well be his ability to keep a straight face. It’s a skill he’s making use of as he lists the guests appearing in a special edition of his show Eurotrash. “There is this guy named Human Nature who transforms himself into different animals, and he will transform himself into a unicorn,” he says, his face betraying no glimmer of smirk. “It’s very spectacular, it’s not just a guy in some makeup. Really spectacular.”

After some thought, Antoine continues: “We have the Spanish psychic that can read the future in vegetables and fruits…”

The cult current affairs show is returning to remind Brits of the ‘alarming cultural delights enjoyed by our European cousins’

Cult late-night show Eurotrash is to make a one-off return on the eve of the EU referendum.

Channel 4 confirmed that the comical current affairs show, hosted by Antoine de Caunes and French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier, will be back on the airwaves for one night only, to remind their “straight-laced British chums” of the “many, varied and occasionally alarming cultural delights enjoyed by our European cousins”.
