Jack Nicholson's Joker Will Return in New Batman Comic

17 August 2017 6:52 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

The Joker is easily one of the most enigmatic characters in comic book history, especially because he has had so many different origins and names it's hard to keep track of it all. The upcoming comic book Batman: White Knight will take this iconic character in a whole new direction, as he re-enters civilian life, having been cured of his criminal insanity, and the name he's taking will be quite familiar to Bat-fans. Writer and artist Sean Gordon Murphy confirmed on social media today that The Joker's "real" name in this upcoming comic will be none other than Jack Napier, the same name of Jack Nicholson's Joker from the 1989 Tim Burton classic, Batman. Here's what Sean Gordon Murphy had to say below.

"Big news: Jack Napier will be the name of my Joker. Warner just approved. 1st time Napier has been in a comic (minus Burton adaptations)."

DC Entertainment

Batman and The Joker, what would one be without the other? For decades now the two have squared off in comic books, television shows and films. So far every film franchise for Batman has include the Clown Prince of Crime. Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, the voice of Mark Hamill and Jared Leto are the names that have voiced, or played, The Joker in the past. Along with the obvious differences, each of them had been molded to compliment the Batman of the time. What would happen if we put Gotham and these two characters in a present time with modern-day problems? Would Batman's style of vigilante justice still work in our day and age? Would he even still be a hero?

All-Star Batman May Be Scott Snyder’s Last Story Involving The Dark Knight “For A While”

After witnessing the conclusion to his now legendary run on Batman, many of us wondered if Scott Snyder had any gas left in the tank of his own Batmobile, but thankfully, he’s had quite the generous reserve as he’s consistently proven with All-Star Batman. Whether it be the barn-burner that was the opening arc with Two-Face or the one that followed featuring a variety of villains – the chapter focusing on Mr. Freeze was the series’ crowning achievement, in my opinion – we the readers have certainly been spoiled.

Originally, this title was slated for a run consisting of about a dozen issues or so, but the game plan has changed as Snyder has obviously tacked on several more installments. In all seriousness, though, is anybody going to complain?

Justice League Concept Art Reveals Superman, CinemaCon Footage Description Arrives

29 March 2017 6:59 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Though it underwent a prolonged period of radio silence, Justice League finally revealed itself to fans in a big way last weekend, when Warner Bros. dropped an explosive new trailer for the film. Granted, it wasn’t the first footage we’d seen from it, but it was by far our best look yet and we’ll be damned if it wasn’t a promising preview. With a fair amount of humor, some epic character moments and an overall tone that seems to be balancing things just right, it’s fair to say that it got a lot of people back on board with the blockbuster.

One thing that was missing from the trailer, and all the marketing surrounding it, though, was Superman. Yes, he is currently dead in the DC Extended Universe, but it’s already been revealed that he’ll be back to join the League in Zack Snyder’s upcoming blockbuster. »
