Noel Fisher Breaks Out in 'Twilight,' 'Shameless,' 'Hatfield & McCoys'

24 May 2012 2:00 AM, PDT | backstage.com | See recent Backstage news »

As if working steadily for the last 14 years isn't enough, 28-year-old Noel Fisher has three major projects debuting almost concurrently. By the end of year, he will be seen as Vladimir, a 3000-year-old Romanian vampire in the final chapter of the mega-phenomenon, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2." He has enjoyed a recurring role-and soon to be series regular-on the hit Showtime program "Shameless," playing the bully Mickey Milkovich opposite William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum. And, on May 28-30, he tackles the mentally challenged Cotton Top Mounts in the History Channel's miniseries, "Hatfields and McCoys" with Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton."It's been a big couple of years," Fisher concedes, sounding floored as he considers it. "I'm proud of each of the projects and they're all so different. I suppose the most challenging is Cotton Top, playing someone who has such a different take on the world. I. »

Warner Brothers wants to send two fans to the 'Beautiful Creatures' set

17 May 2012 2:56 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

If you follow me on Twitter, you already know that two weeks ago, I spent a day on the set of Warner Brothers' adaptation of Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl's "Beautiful Creatures" in and around New Orleans.   Most of that set visit is, of course, under embargo and I can't say much more than I tweeted: Emmy Rossum brought us melon water. The young folks in the cast -- including Rossum, Alden Ehrehreich, Zoey Deutch and Thomas Mann -- are friendly, pretty and well-spoken and the more mature folks in the cast -- Jeremy Irons, Emma Thompson, Viola Davis -- »

The book, which began as "Twilight" fan fiction, describes Ana as "a pale, brown haired girl with blue eyes too big for her face." Fans are looking for someone that not only represents her physically, but can also balance her purity with her newfound sensual side.

"The trickiest part of all may be staying true to the book and finding an actress who can convey youth and innocence, »

First Look At Alden Ehrenreich & Alice Englert In 'Beautiful Creatures'; Release Date Slightly Bumped To February 15, 2013

4 May 2012 1:48 PM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

We gotta admit, Alden Ehrenreich as a potential franchise star for a series of young adult books leaping to the big screen, is still a hard concept to adjust to. But like it or not, it's coming, and the actor, who has mostly been playing around with the Coppolas ("Tetro," "Twixt," "Somewhere"), could be a name girls start writing on their binders with hearts around it (do kids even use binders these days?).

EW has the first look at Ehrenreich with newcomer Alice Englert in Richard Lagravanese's "Beautiful Creatures." Based on the novel by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, the film will follow Ethan Wate (Ehrenreich) and Lena Duchannes (Englert), two teens in the deep south who are drawn together by a strange connection and supernatural secrets. Looks romantic! Or possibly a total nightmare if you're allergic to pollen. But clearly, there is going to be a strong relationship at the center of the tale. »

[First Look] Alden Ehrenreich and Alice Englert Get Close In ‘Beautiful Creatures’

4 May 2012 1:45 PM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

I fear Beautiful Creatures will prove to be nothing more than a Twilight surrogate. Even with such a comparison over at EW notwithstanding, pretty much any mixture of supernatural romance and young adult fiction will quickly steer my mind toward the property — which, to be perfectly honest, is one I hold nothing against. But I don’t want more of it proliferating and getting into the market, either.

Now we have the first image, right up above, and this vibe only gets stronger when a visual companion is added to the mix. Alden Ehrenreich (Tetro, Stoker) and Alice Englert looking pretty and lovey-dovey could very well be enough for many — I wouldn’t mind it all too much, actually — but the “mystical” addition of a falling substance (snow?) instantly brings moody vampires and werewolves to mind. I think we need a trailer to mend that problem, and I think we need one quick. »

First Look: 'Beautiful Creatures' brings the Southern (gothic) charm

4 May 2012 10:32 AM, PDT | EW - Inside Movies | See recent EW.com - Inside Movies news »

Supernatural star-crossed romance, a small town full of secrets, and a dash of Southern gothic intrigue. That’s the recipe for Beautiful Creatures, the latest movie offering for the Twilight set. Richard Lagravenese (P.S. I Love You) wrote and directed the South Carolina-set adaptation of Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl’s young adult novel, the first in a trilogy of books. In development since 2009, Creatures recently started shooting in New Orleans. Now EW has your first look at a romantic (dare I say sparkling?) scene between Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich) and Lena Duchannes (Alice Englert), the mysterious girl of his dreams — literally. »

‘The Seventh Son’ and ‘Beautiful Creatures’ Pushed Back; ‘Robot and Frank’ Dated; ‘Hunter Killer’ Disappears

4 May 2012 7:30 AM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

In terms of scheduling, marketing, financial profit, and general saturation, it always seemed odd that Warner Bros. would release two fantasy films two weeks apart from one another — even if they’re going for different crowds — and, finally, the studio has realized something was up. So, BoxOfficeMojo reports that Richard Lagravenese‘s Beautiful Creatures has been moved back two weeks, and will now open on February 25th, 2013, a slot once reserved for Sergey Bodrov‘s The Seventh Son. That film is undergoing a much bigger shift, having been scheduled to hit on October 18th, 2013.

The former stars Alden Ehrenreich, Emmy Rossum, Emma Thompson, Viola Davis, Jeremy Irons, and Kyle Gallner; the latter’s cast is comprised of Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, Ben Barnes, Olivia Williams, Alicia Vikander, Kit Harington, and Antje Traue.

Emma Watson tweets pic as Alexis Neiers for 'Bling Ring' movie

3 May 2012 4:48 PM, PDT | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

"Harry Potter" star Emma Watson is currently filming a very different kind of movie -- she's the lead in Sophia Coppola's film "Bling Ring," based on the exploits of Alexis Neiers.

Neiers is well-known in the Hollywood community for her involvement with the Bling Ring -- a group of young people who burglarized the homes of high-profile celebs including Paul Oakenfold, Orlando Bloom, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel Bilson, Shia Labeouf, Emmy Rossum, Paris Hilton, Ashley Tisdale and Audrina Patridge. She served one month of a six-month jail sentence in the summer of 2010.

Watson's character, Nicki, is closely based on Alexis. "Twitterers meet Nicki, Nicki meet twitterers," Watson tweeted on Wednesday, including the above photo. "Nicki likes Lip Gloss, Purses, Yoga, Pole Dancing, Uggs, Louboutins, Juice Cleanses, Iced coffee and Tattoos."

Neiers herself wasn't particularly impressed. "Close but I've never&would never wear that," she tweeted about Watson's wardrobe -- but she was quick to add, »

Written and directed by Richard Lagravanese ("P.S. I Love You"), the picture will tell the tale of leads Ethan Wate (Ehrenreich) and Lena Duchannes (Englert), two teens in the deep south who are drawn together by a strange connection and supernatural secrets. Kyle Gallner Joins ‘Beautiful Creatures’; Abigail Spencer Co-Starring In ‘Kilimanjaro’

Richard Lagravenese ought to be shooting Beautiful Creatures right now, but one or two roles still need to be filled before casting is complete. After all, Variety reports that Kyle Gallner (Red State, A Nightmare on Elm Street) will join the young adult fantasy love story what-have-you, therefore putting him in the company of Alden Ehrenreich, Emmy Rossum, Emma Thompson, Viola Davis, Jeremy Irons, and a few others.

Amidst the story of two lovers who “uncover dark secrets about their families, their history and their town,” Gallner will be playing Larkin, younger brother of Rossum‘s character, Lena, who puts a spell on him. And now I have that soul song stuck in my head. The film will hit on February 1st, 2013.

Secondly, THR has learned that Brian Geraghty won’t be going it alone on Walter Strafford‘s Kilimanjaro. Abigail Spencer (Mad Men) has been confirmed to join the independent drama, »

Kyle Gallner Is One Last 'Beautiful Creature'

1 May 2012 4:56 PM, PDT | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

Kyle Gallner is now in on the mystery.

The "Red State" star will soon be headed down south as he signs on for a key role in "Beautiful Creatures," according to Variety.

"Beautiful Creatures" tells the gothic tale of two teens who are drawn together by a strange connection and supernatural secrets. Gallner will be playing the role of Larkin, the younger brother of the witch Ridley (Emmy Rossum) and the unfortunate recipient of one of her spells.

Kyle Gallner is certainly no stranger to films that don't quite take place in our reality, having appeared in the "Nightmare on Elm Street" reboot, "The Haunting in Connecticut" and "Jennifer's Body." He was recently terrorized by religious extremists in Kevin Smith's "Red State" and made a splash at Sundance earlier this year with his performance as Aaron Paul's younger brother in "Smashed."

Steve Martin Provokes Palindromes In Today's Twitter-Wood

13 April 2012 2:14 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Here's a little history lesson for you. This quote that legendary actor Steve Martin tweeted is actually, "Able was I ere I saw Elba." It's a palindrome, which means if you were to read the sentence from right to left instead of left to right, it would say the same thing. The palindrome was created as something Napoleon Bonaparte might've said when he was exiled to the Island of Elsa.

Able was I ere I saw Bubba.

Steve Martin (@SteveMartinToGo) April 13, 2012

So, maybe Martin was exiled to an island off of L.A. called Bubba? Or perhaps it was an auto correct? Those things happen, you know. Your guess is as good as ours.

The rest of today's tweets bring you an array of topics from the stars about parenting, food, and Nickleback. Oh, and if you haven't already heard, it's Friday the 13th. Maybe Martin's Bubba is a ghost that's haunting him? »
