Joker and Harley Go Fifty Shades Darker in Suicide Squad Mashup Video

24 September 2016 12:24 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

It had to happen. It was only a matter of time. One of next year's biggest blockbusters has gotten the mashup treatment with one of this year's box office hits. That's right, in a special fan made video, The Joker and Harley Quinn go all Fifty Shades Darker. And it's pretty spectacular.

The relationship between The Joker and Harleen Frances Quinzel was already dark. But if you thought it couldn't go any darker, you were wrong. Because it just went pitch black. This Suicide Squad mashup comes from Youtube user Nerdy Hero. He calls this little piece of fan erotica 'Fifty Shades of Joker'. And apparently, it has been a long time coming. He explains.

"Crazy Never Looked So Bad! Honestly I've had this Idea for a Mashup for almost a year and glad to finally be able to make it and show you all!"

The first Fifty Shades Darker trailer dropped earlier this month, »

Funko Reveals Nycc Exclusive Grenade Damaged Joker From Suicide Squad Deleted Scenes

Last week saw the reveal of Hot Toys' Batman Imposter Joker figurine, based on Jared Leto's maniacal Clown Prince of Crime in David Ayer's Suicide Squad. While fans speculated that this look might have been derived from one of the film's many deleted scenes, there's never been any evidence to support it. However, Funko has now taken things a step further. In anticipation of New York Comic-Con this October, Funko has revealed their line of exclusive POPs, which includes a new Suicide Squad Joker figure pulled out of one of the film's confirmed deleted scenes. The "Grenade Joker" figure features the character sporting a "damaged" look that factored into one of the most talked about scenes of the film's marketing campaign. The sequence was reportedly supposed to occur towards the end of the film, with the Joker tossing a grenade at the team after Harley Quinn refuses to »

Curtis Hanson: A Craftsman Who, in Two Movies, Touched Greatness

21 September 2016 2:09 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Directing movies, Quentin Tarantino has said, “is a young man’s game. Directors don’t really get better as they get older…I’ve been studying all these directors’ careers, and boy, you tell me the one I haven’t thought of and I’ll bow my head.” Tarantino is right. For the most part, directors don’t get better as they get older. (The rare ones remain just as good.) There are exceptions to that rule, however, and none may be more dramatic, in its way, than the career of Curtis Hanson, who died Tuesday at 71.

For a long time, he worked under the radar. Then, in his forties, when he’d achieved a certain medium-grade commercial success, it was for making a handful of serviceable if not exactly indelible genre movies: the yuppie exploitation noir “Bad Influence” (1990), which played — with an entertaining hint of crassness — off the Rob Lowe sex-tape scandal. »

Wonder Woman: Has The Villain For The DC Epic Finally Been Revealed?

20 September 2016 7:54 AM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

It's funny. People always talk about the importance of great villains in genre films, and how certain movies fall completely flat because of their seemingly toothless antagonists. Yet, sometimes, villains are treated as an afterthought by fans and marketers in the lead-up to a film's release. When it comes to DC's Wonder Woman, so much focus has been placed on the casting of Gal Gadot, the hiring of Patty Jenkins (Monster), the period timeframe of the plot, and how it will fit into the grander landscape that leads us to Justice League...that practically no one is thinking about the film's big bad villain.

Similar to Suicide Squad, WB/DC seems to be placing the bulk of the focus on the protagonist(s) of the movie and hardly making mention of the villain. For the David Ayer flick, people didn't really know for sure who the villain(s) would be »

Black Panther Film Will Deal With The Hero's Origins, Chadwick Boseman Says

19 September 2016 4:54 PM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

This year's Captain America: Civil War saw Black Panther thrown right into the thick of a stew that's already been cooking for twelve films. Like with Spider-Man in the film, we got no origin with this character, as there was already enough conflict being thrown around, and in the grand scheme of things, there simply wasn't time. That being said, Marvel did a great job integrating him into the story, and not just throwing him in a haphazard fashion, but giving him a real purpose and arc.

“Civil War was a jumping off point for the Black Panther character," actor Chadwick Boseman said when speaking with Yahoo! Movies UK. "It’s not necessarily an origin story because he remains a mystery through most of the movie. When I take the mask off and it’s revealed that it’s the Prince of Wakanda, that’s the guy who’s father »

Affleck's Batman Movie Opens with an Epic Arkham Prison Break?

19 September 2016 3:24 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

For awhile we've been hearing that Ben Affleck's new Batman standalone movie will be taking place entirely in Arkham Asylum. That may not be true according to a new rumor. But depending on how you read between the lines, and what else has been said about the movie, it sounds like this solo outing will kick off with a bunch of prisoners escaping the famed institute. Though we know that Deathstroke will be the main bad guy, there will likely be other iconic foes surfacing throughout the movie.

Quite a few rumors have been swirling around the plot of The Batman, which Ben Affleck is both starring in and directing. But in all actuality, very little has been confirmed by anyone involved. Things are starting to take shape. And we keep hearing that the famed Arkham Asylum will be a fixture in the upcoming comic book adaptation. But now »

Emmys 2016: How the Awards Show Managed to Not Suck This Year

19 September 2016 9:00 AM, PDT | Rollingstone.com | See recent Rolling Stone news »

Now there's something you don't see too often — an Emmy night that actually makes good television. The Emmys are usually one of those pop-culture Zen koans: Why is an award show for TV such a painful little hate-watch? But this year's model was easily the most entertaining Emmy bash since Conan O'Brien hosted in 2008, a welcome change after last year's debacle. Jimmy Kimmel kept things moving and got the whole event done and dusted in three hours — with a minute or two to spare, actually. Yes, there was still plenty »

The evolution of the Batman suit on screen from 1943 to 2017

Luke Owen looks back at Batman’s past…

As Saturday was Batman Day [you can read two other op-eds here and here] and following on from my look back at the evolution of Spider-Man and Daredevil‘s costumes (and the Batmobile), I thought it would be fun to look back at all the big screen and (some of ) the small screen versions of everyone’s favourite Dark Knight. Starting from the serials in the 1940s all the way through to Zack Snyder’s Batman who brands people.

But what makes the Bat Suit so iconic? Is it the emblem on his chest? Is it the cowl? Is it the colour scheme? Or is it all of the above. Let’s find out.

1943: Lewis Wilson (Batman)

Wilson starred in the 15-chapter serial Batman against Douglas Croft as Robin, which saw the Dynamic Duo as U.S. secret agents taking down Dr. Dako during World War II. The costume is fairly modest, »

'Game of Thrones' & 'Veep' repeated, yet this was a surprising Emmy night

Sipowicz and Simone, together again! Franz and Smits, together again! Sipowicz and Simone, together again! Dennis Franz, coming out of retirement, maybe?!?!?! Dennis Franz saying "Ipsa this!" 23 years after TV viewers first met Andy Sipowicz?!?!!? What, you want me to talk about the actual Emmy results, rather than the unexpected and wonderful reunion of my beloved NYPD Blue  that occurred right before the end of the telecast? Okay, fine. Though Frranz and Smits' appearance to present the final award — Outstanding Drama Series, to Emmy steamroller Game of Thrones, which tied its own record from last year for the most Emmys for a series in a single year with 12 (many of them presented last week at the Creative Arts Emmy ceremonies) — provided one last surprising and delightful moment in an Emmy telecast largely full of them. Yes, GoT mostly dominated for its uneven but at times brilliant sixth season. Yes, FX's The People v. »
