Jim Parsons Gay / Harvey / The Normal Heart

24 May 2012 9:42 PM, PDT | Alt Film Guide | See recent Alt Film Guide news »

Jim Parsons gay? Well, as per the New York Times, yes, the Big Bang Theory actor "is gay and in a 10-year relationship." No more details are given out. No explanations as to why the Times made a point of outing Parsons, who says nothing about his private life or sexual orientation during an interview focusing on a Broadway revival of Harvey in which Parsons stars in the old James Stewart movie role of the, huh, eccentric bachelor whose pal is a big rabbit (Harvey) that only he can see. In addition to his stage work, the Houston-born, 39-year-old Parsons has been seen in movies and on television since 2002. His TV breakthrough was, of course, The Big Bang Theory, which has earned him two Emmys and a Golden Globe. On the big screen, Jim Parsons hasn’t made much of a mark yet, as he has almost invariably been cast in minor supporting roles. »

Jessica Sanchez Hopes to Burst 'Idol' 'Bubble'

24 May 2012 5:16 PM, PDT | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

As finalists of seasons past have proven, Grammy winners can be born even if you're not voted the American Idol champ. Jessica Sanchez has nothing to be ashamed of for her triumphant run on the show and surely has a bright future to look forward to in the spotlight.

The morning after her defeat, Jessica was complacent and optimistic while speaking with ETonline. "Jennifer Hudson came in 7th place and she's one of the biggest ones. I have so much respect for her. Hopefully I am one of those people," the runner-up said.

Video: Sanchez Eager to Start Her Career after 'Idol'

One of the first things on Jessica's agenda, besides celebrating with family, is to find a song that is a good fit for her debut single. She didn't mesh well with Change Nothing, the lyrics Jimmy Iovine selected for her. "Now I have time and variety and I can choose and look through »

Taran Killam Cast in Steve McQueen Movie

24 May 2012 2:15 PM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Taran Killam, poised to take over SNL any day now, is adding some dramatic work to his résumé: Deadline reports that Killam has joined the cast of Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave. He joins Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Paul Dano, and Chiwetel Ejiofor in the true story of a New York man (Ejiofor) who's abducted and sold into slavery in Louisiana in 1841. Killam will play the troubadour who does the abducting, which is a pretty big departure from playing a gay Prince Charming or an enthusiastic J-pop fan. »

'Men in Black 3': Pros And Cons

23 May 2012 9:50 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

This weekend, "Men in Black 3" finds Will Smith donning the Ray Bans once again for another intergalactic adventure as Agent J. In the threequel, J must travel back to the year 1969 to prevent the assassination of his partner, Agent K. With the Apollo 11 mission looming in the background, J works alongside a much younger -- but still surly -- K (Josh Brolin) to ensure that the timeline remains unchanged. It's been ten years since we last saw the Mib, and that cinematic outing was poorly received. Despite the new installment's well-documented script problems can the new flick follow suit? Let's find out in this week's Pro-Con. (Mild Spoilers Follow) Pro: It's better than "Men in Black II" The second movie was one of the most unnecessary, forgettable and humorless viewing experiences ever. This is a much more harmless attempt at a sequel. Con: That's not saying much Number three isn't awful, »

Anderson Cooper explains laughing fits to Jimmy Fallon

23 May 2012 8:00 AM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

In addition to his stellar reporting and news anchoring abilities, Anderson Cooper has made quite a habit of breaking into fits of giggles during his RidicuList segments on AC360, which are as endearing as they are hysterical. Last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Cooper addressed his inability to keep it together while reporting on absurd happenings such as Gerard Depardieu’s airline urinating incident, and, most recently, while he explained the celebrated Polish-American holiday of Dyngus Day. Repeating his admission that he laughs like “a 12-year-old girl meeting Justin Bieber for the first time,” watch what else Cooper »

Michael Ausiello has some Glee news for next season, specifically how they'll handle the show-within-a-show aspect. It seems some episodes will be all in high school, and some will be all in New York. And yes, they intend to shoot some of the show on location in the Big Apple. But honestly, after last night I don't really care. I think I'll be getting a life – outside the series.

Special Features - The Ten Most Engrossing Movie Soundtracks

21 May 2012 6:25 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Simon Moore presents the ten most engrossing movie soundtracks...

Let me put you on the spot for a moment. Think of a great film. Right now. An uncompromisingly fantastic piece of cinema you’d be proud to shout your love for at the top of your voice in a crowded elevator. I’ll give you a minute to think of one. Hell, take two minutes, so you can cheat and sneak a peek at the IMDb.

Now that you’ve thought of a great film, ask yourself this – would it be anywhere near half as great without its musical soundtrack? Imagine The Godfather without that trumpet theme. Half the story of Star Wars is in John Williams’ breathtaking score. But consider this too – even the crummiest, the cheesiest, the most head-mashingly daft films can be potentially saved by their soundtrack. Ennio Morricone spent almost all of the sixties saving B-movie »

Ryan Reynolds is in final discussions to play the title role in the reboot of Highlander. I used to love the television show, but this feels like another unnecessary reboot.

The NAACP has passed a resolution supporting marriage equality. “Civil marriage is a civil right and a matter of civil law,” says NAACP president Benjamin Todd Jealous.

As the Facebook Ipo fizzled (funny how a magic $100 billion appearing is a fizzle), Bono was reportedly set to reap a lot of money through his Elevation Partners, which purchased 2.3% of the company two years ago. Word was, he'd become the world's richest musician, surpassing Sir Paul McCartney's $1 billion net worth. But Bono says that the stock is owned by many partners, and the news of his ascension to billionaire is grossly exaggerated.

Since Mick Jagger's last turn hosting Saturday Night Live (in 1978, when the Rolling Stones hosted and musical-guested in their first appearance), the show has turned into a venerated cultural institution, and Jagger has turned into a 68-year-old man. Hulu.com: Will Ferrell's 10 Best SNL Sketches Ever

14 May 2012 9:00 AM, PDT | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

Will Ferrell's been gone from "SNL" for 10 years now. I don't know how we've kept it together since then, as Americans. He was the closest thing to this country's Kim Jong-Il: Everyone would cry in the street if he died, and sunglasses made him look like something in one of the saltwater tanks at Sea World.

Plus, he defined our moral fiber there for a few years. If there was a Will Ferrell Constitution, it would almost exclusively tell us that it's awesome to yell at helpless dogs, and that you desperately need to get off the damn shed. That was the turn of the century in a nutshell.

Well, thank god, Will Ferrell's back on Saturday hosting "SNL." We get a reminder of the good ol' days, when he could talk about the moon as a food product for five minutes and that would be considered a complete sketch. »

To appease the purists, we have omitted any joint productions with Pixar (we need to give the others a fighting chance, after all). There is a multitude of cinematic greats in The House of Mouse, and we have found the diamonds in the rough. Numbers 10 – 6 can be found here, below you will find the top five.

So why don’t you just ruminate, whilst we illuminate the possibilities.

5. Beauty And The Beast  (1991)

Here it is. The movie whose return to the cinema we are celebrating at Thn. It will no doubt dazzle in 3D but even with a mere two dimensions, it is a magically romantic spectacle. We all know the story, let’s get down to what makes it so glorious. »

Marvel’S The Avengers – The Review

3 May 2012 9:50 PM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

” I’d like to speak with you about the Avengers Initiative ”. Can it really be four years ago that Shield director Nicholas Fury ( Samuel L Jackson ) spoke those fateful words to a surprised Tony Stark ( Robert Downey, Jr. ) at the end ( the very tail end, after the final credits ) of Iron Man ? Marvel fans around the globe were ecstatic. The fabled comic book company was now in the film business ( other characters were licensed to other studios )  and Jon Favreau’s rollicking action hit was the first in their partnership with Paramount. With this bit of dialogue, were they announcing their intentions to team up some of their greatest heroes in one massive movie event? Fans were teased again later that Summer when Stark strode into the bar where General ” Thunderbolt ” Ross was drowning his sorrows at the end of The Incredible Hulk. Expectations rose two years later with Iron Man 2 »

Garry Marshall's Wish For Lindsay Lohan

3 May 2012 3:00 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Garry Marshall’s resume reads like a pop-culture cheat sheet for the past 50 years. He got his start penning scripts for sitcoms starring Lucille Ball and Dick Van Dyke, produced "Happy Days," and "Laverne and Shirley," and then became a hugely successful director with movies like "Pretty Woman" and "The Princess Diaries."

The 77-year-old Bronx native, who still speaks with a "New Yawk" accent, is known throughout Hollywood as one of the nicest guys, and when you read his memoir "My Happy Days in Hollywood," you’ll soon agree. The man has nothing bad to say about anyone -- not his sister Penny, who tortured him while filming "Laverne and Shirley" (her blurb for the book is, "Thanks to my brother I have a life. I’m sorry I almost ruined his during 'Laverne & Shirley'), nor Lindsay Lohan, who was habitually late while filming "Georgia Rule."

George Lopez doubts he'd have wanted TBS talk show 'for the rest of my life'

George Lopez believes, nine months after TBS ended his weeknight "Lopez Tonight" talk show, that it's "probably the best time of my life."

The comedian has a very full plate now: He'll host the Fox dating-competition show "Take Me Out" starting Thursday, June 7; his third HBO stand-up special, "George Lopez: It's Not Me, It's You," will be televised from Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre on Saturday, July 14; and he has a deal with Debmar-Mercury, the company making Charlie Sheen's "Anger Management" for FX, for another sitcom.

"Doing a talk show was something I'd never imagined," Lopez tells Zap2it. "Being as much a fan of Johnny Carson as I was, and having been on 'Late Show With David Letterman' and all those shows, it was fun to do. That's kind of a lifetime gig, though, and I'm not sure I would have wanted to do that »
